  1. This is British Speedway we're talking about here
  2. I've said many times on here that i am no fan of our current promotion and in truth I never have been. I know some will say "without them we wouldn't be going now" and to that extent that is a true statement and Yes, they did also deliver the stadium that promised. But when looking back over the past 9 seasons they have been in charge it has been an extremely poor 9 years that they have been running the club. Up until this season, people i work with or know me thought the club had disappeared and i had to tell them differently and say we have just moved a brand new stadium. At the fans forum earlier this season we was told we would be getting some track covers (that is a subject for another day or previous topics on here) and that they were looking to bring new fans to the club and get some youngsters watching and involve social media to drum up interest. Now, that was back in April and I haven't seen anything that has remotely tried to get younger fans to come and watch the side at all since and has been a case of just telling fans of the Next Aces/Colts and Carvery options available in the Stadium. If you compare the social media aspect to the Manchester Storm Ice Hockey team and another minority sport in this country, the new Storm side have been around since June 2015 and since April 2009 when Belle Vue first joined twitter, they have 4,803 followers on twitter. Meanwhile the Storm have 12.4K in just over a year and that is done through great communicate and involving fans of the side. Manchester were recently praised as well as one of the best Social Media clubs in the Elite League by the league its self and also rival club. So you see the difference between the two minority sports, one is run with fans in mind and is constantly updating fans while one doesn't and fans have to use the Aces Fans forum for meeting being called off or any news that breaks and makes the official side of the Aces looks unprofessional compared to other sides in the league. That said and a valid raised by certain Belle Vue posters on here on about the North West being arguably 'the Sporting Capital of the UK' with many Rugby, Basketball, Ice hockey, Cricket and of course Football with City, United and Liverpool being 3 of the biggest teams in the area, along with the rest of our local North West sides too, and when you take in to account that fans travel to the NSS from Blackpool, Liverpool, and sometimes as far away as the South coast too it can have a drawn back. One thing that does grate with me and WestGorton1884 has brought it up recently, is the pointless bickering of United and City fans sniping at each other on the Aces forum and on here too when it comes to the speedway. The other night City played in Euro and the main road (no pun intended) to get to the stadium is using Hyde Road and so traffic would be heavy and is a valid point. However there has been occassions when England play in tournaments and the club have chose to call the meeting off as this may affect attendences and so they would restage it, but with it being a local team and about 2.8 miles away from the NSS they left it and seemed a weird decision. Our forums also tend to have Gordon taking shot at City when 1. Is there any need to always bring them into conversation when the subject doesn't warrant it and is on about Speedway and 2. He should concentrate more about trying bring crowds in and giving the fans the best product on and off the track and less of the snarky comments. I doubt also if this occurs at any other speedway side in the country, as i don't recall hearing CvS or Pete Adams bad mouthing any West Midlands football sides or Glasgow bad mouthing Celtic or Rangers and at a huge push Matt Ford calling all the South Coast sides in or around Poole as surely this would almost alienate fans for me. I could go on about the failing like the ill-fated meeting against Poole or the PCMT & the cock up of the Swindon meeting, but these incidents have been done to death on here and you read back if you want to see that. For me in the 30 years that I've watched speedway for me the previous two promotions we had have been far better than this one in my own opinion. TM and the late Ian Thomas seemed to have turned the corner for the Aces and woke us out of a slumber and no matter what you thought of the late John Perrin, he was much in the same mould as this current promotion now for me in the way he kept the team going but under difficult conditions by the GRA but he did things his own way rightly or wrongly. He would stand up for himself and argue his case and not bend to others and signed World Class riders and had on paper some of the best sides in the British league at that time, but his managing ability wasn't always the best and just couldn't get the best out of them. However to end this on a postitve note incase you feel i'm being completely negative, for me the ONLY two things the club have right is the team despite having a blip of late and most of all appointing as team manager Mark Lemon, as Lemo has been a revelation since he took over last season and seen us virtually qualifying for the playoffs in first two seasons with us.

Here is a photo of the track taken at 7:00 and then at 8.00 Embarrassing for us Aces fans and yet a new one in a line of cock up's by this joke promotion! https://www.instagram.com/p/BJTTP-9h1ImmyVz572BB9u8qPb6VyM7pXi4wlk0/

Belle Vue Colts-v- Eastbourne Eagles 13/5/16

For me so far this season i've watched Belle Vue away at Leicester and then at home to Swindon. But the Colts matches for me have been far more entertaining than the Elite meeting by a country mile! Last week we had Greaves v Armstrong and then Greaves & Payne v Armstrong in two thrilling races and last week at least quarter of the races were better than any Elite race i've saw for many years at the old B.V or on tv. Credit to the Eastbourne fans that came up and they can be proud how of their riders rode put in a great effort too for the Eagles.
  5. As an Aces fan just move the British Final back to Wolverhampton and the World Cup to King's Lynn, as at least they have rideable track. These track workers have had 2 go's and failed miserable, if they have only discovery further problems now why didn't they spot them to begin with. Thinking about giving this season a miss at Belle Vue and just watch Buxton and Sheffield.

    Belle Vue 2016

I'm torn, as personally i have a hatred for Sky and how they have hardly gave BV any credit over the years much like they did for Ipswich when they were in the Elite lge. It is almost like if things don't include Poole,Coventry and Wolves then they ain't interested. So no shock Sky move Poole fixture forward as they suddenly want to know us now as we get the stadium. I'd love it if the match v Poole was cancelled and stop Sky coming up here, as personally i wish we could ban them from ever coming North of the M6 and showing the Aces at the new home, however at the same time i don't want the club to be hit by a call off.

Poole Vs The Aces For The Title

I was stood at the starting gate and a lot of people down below shouted up towards the referee's box about the goggles and if you want to be more picky, he wasn't at tapes when the clocked struck 0.00 either. Personally, he could have been excluded and then gone 15 metres back as he may well have come 2nd or 3rd based on how our reserves were on Monday. The fact he was struggling with them and everyone else was looking across at the incident at tapes, makes you wonder what on earth Graham Flint was doing? As a starting marshall with goggles in his hand the referee not noticing it, he should be banned from refereeing for half the season and take lessons. If this has had been Jim Lawrence then the situation would have been dealt with there and then, as he is the best referee in the UK for me.
  8. If people are moaning about Manchester not be central enough for all, what about the football and England playing in LONDON, that is pretty bang in the middle for everyone in England!! Also the World Cup events have always been hosted in the South, like King's Lynn, Poole, Reading, Eastbourne, Swindon. The only time it came North was in 2001, when Sheffield hosted an event and besides that was Coventry. For me Wolves would have been a better venue for fans for the World Cup, as i think it is the fairest and best track in the league.
  9. Glad it wasn`t on SKY, personally hope they NEVER EVER come to the New Stadium but sadly that isn't going to happen. Right meeting wise and i`m still drained from it now. Ward did all the all hard work for the Robins, with Summers and Batchelor chipping in with points. Nicholls and Worrall looked down on power in the meeting and No idea what Cook was doing in his first ride, as we all knew he had less than a minute and just waited on the 1st bend till the red light came on. A crazy meeting with 3 races which i think took over an hour and a bit to race, saw the tension played out more and in some ways kinda of killed the excitement too. Special mention for Rider of the night for me in Stefan Nielsen, out gated Ward in nearly every run of heat 13 and is getting better and better for me.

    Aces 2015

To be fair Speedway is getting the same as football, Everyone not long ago that was within the British isles had at one time or another had trials with Man Utd and now the elite is getting the same with basically everyone with Poole Connections. I could go on about Poole, but would be repeating the same thing about the hundredth time. Getting back to the topic, I`m quite happy to see Lemon at Belle Vue as if he puts as much effort into his managing as he did riding for us a few years back i can see us possibly being mid table, which would be heaven since 2006. The biggest question i have on the season isn`t the new Team Manager, the track or hell even the riders that are will don the Aces colours for 2015. What i hope and manay others will hope for is the promotion to keep and stay away from the actual running of the team during the season and letting Mark get on with the job at hand, as can`t be a concidence that the Aces have had nearly as many managers as the Pirates have league title since 2007. Something doesn`t seem right as Eric Boocock, Chris Morton, Jim Lynch and Jason Attwood have come and gone or just moved upstairs. Plus if you take in account the way the club refused to acknowledge the work of Attwood via their PR statements, of which was re-edited 3 times! It isn`t any shock that i`ve never been won over by this promotion since day 1 and the way certain things have transpired and rumors have gone round, then i`m not surprised that we finish near bottom every year. Hopefully 2015 is better than it has been, but jury out for me and not on Lemon.

    Aces 2015

To be honest, we know what to expect for next season, another Aces team that will be good on paper at best and will struggle all season as always and be fighting to avoid the wooden spoon. Maybe 2015, but we haven`t moved on from 2007 at all. Aces won`t sign Fricke if it costs money, as we have a stadium to pay for, so therefore that is more important. The 2016 season will probably be the best season us Aces will have since 2005, as we`ll have a new stadium which will please us and will depend if this new track will entice any top riders and not ones that come to get their average down. So roll on 2016 i say!

    Sky 2014

Personally i`d be happy to see no television coverage of the Elite League, as it may have the promoters sit down and try to salvage the wreckage that is British Speedway. It`s clear speedway needs a good clear out of the people at the top an bring in people with either no ties to any teams or ex riders that are no easily got at. IF they can sort that out and chuck out the stupid tactical rule along with the playoffs , they can make the league title respectable again in my eyes as the team that has won the most game should be rightfully champions. It was SKY idea to bring playoffs to the league and if it means that the playoffs is stopped with Sky going then i`m all for it. plus i don`t have to hear Tatum and Pearson going over the top every week using the same old phrases.. drama in the extreme , great stuff and WOOFY, WOOFY, WOOFY! I`ll be honest, as much as i pained me to do so i cheered anyone but Woffinden just so them wouldn`t say that stupid phrase!

    Ipswich V Edinburgh 25/7/13

Make it seem like he is Katie Price. "Want the juicy gossip on what happened to little old defenseless me, pick up a copy of tomorrow Sun newpaper with a Free voucher on boxing classes inside! My story will be on page 3!"
  14. Kyle is a trier for sure and if it was on effort he would score a lot as he tried in every Colts race. Holder and Ward normally moan about Belle Vue track, but name me a rider that hasn`t moaned about our track before! And only occurs Aces rider pulling out when the Sky cameras come to us. As apart from other week, they normally involve our riders sitting out the meeting. Personally i think Belle Vue will win as Poole have a couple that may struggle at Kirky lane. But i think Poole may take a point off us.
