  1. I'd have to spend too much time in the rule book trying to figure that one out but I have to believe it is a legal change or Belle Vue would not have allowed it to happen.....well maybe!
  2. Harris would be guesting for Becker!
  3. Agree with lot said on here, the no helmet colours were a big problem. National Anthem was just about the worst I have ever heard, muted my way through that one. The fence BTW is NOT concrete, its plywood. This is normal for USA tracks and no air bags yet for this country and of course, no dirt deflectors. Commentator continually said "first USA v World" since 1988....totally untrue, they have one every year except for the COVID years....results are on the International Speedway website if anyone is interested. As others have said "Cairns" looks to be a great prospect for the future at only 13.....definitely one to keep an eye on. Glad I watched it though.
  4. Seen various start times for this 1:00pm, 3:30pm and 9:00pm.......anyone have anything definitive? Even the link above has two different times. I'll take UK time and deduct 5 hours!!

    All Time Favourite Tracks?

1959 was my first season at New Cross......although he didn't score maximums every week in that very short season he was spectacular in his style, don't think anyone could argue with that.......might be wrong but I think his only maximum that year was in the Tom Farndon Memorial....a fifteen pointer....you would certainly know better that I for that one.

    All Time Favourite Tracks?

Between the two, it was really from the smallest to one of the largest, both gave great racing but because New Cross was so small it always looked like close racing. Craven and Young were fantastic there!

    All Time Favourite Tracks?

New Cross, West Ham and Hyde Road.
  9. Used to go to them in the USA and a few that were held in Canada......most of the racing was not really racing but was shall we say for lack of a nicer word....."Staged".
  10. um..er....I am....um...er.....surprised...um..er...you needed...um...er to do um...er....that

    Speedway Cigarette Cards

Badges have been a real problem over the years, tons (literally) have been copied and sold but for the main part most vendors have been honest......not so many programmes over the years, Photographs have been a big problem seems most people still think they can copy them and that is OK.......its not of course. Race jackets are another item that have been mass reproduced.

    Speedway Cigarette Cards

Do be careful with these, they have been reprinted so you must ask if they are original.
  17. None....I answered that previously.
  18. OK so according to my Nottingham Final Round programme the scores from the previous four rounds are as follows. Greenwood 45, Price 44, Goulden 40, Dallison 39, Bravery 34, Dook 29, Shepherd 29, Hart 25, Hobson 23, Jones 23,Blain 22, Wise 22, S Hart 17, Collins 10, Gregory 7. My final round programme is incomplete but the full results are on Speedway researcher so just add them together as norbold has already provided. The four previous rounds were at Bristol, Plymouth, Liverpool and Southampton.
  19. There was absolutely nothing in those years, the next title after the 1936 Nottingham came at Birmingham in 1946, Walthamstow 1950 (Div3), Cardiff 1951 (Div3), 1954 BV (Div2) then the SAL riders Champs in the late 50's before the PLRC and then BLRC came in.

    Oldest Surviving World Finalists

I first met Tony in 1977 at Welland but I had seen him at Crayford, never remembered him though from there. Pretty good rider at Welland winning one Canadian Championship. An absolute quiet spoken gentleman....Yes you are correct he went to Edmonton to live, I did visit him once out there.

My old friend now deceased, Tony Armstrong used to ride for Crayford.

    Oldest Surviving World Finalists

Four a week for me sometimes and I went to all four. Monday: Wimbledon Tuesday: West Ham Wednesday: Oh dear, what can I do? Occasionally it was Crayford....think that was a Wednesday. Thursday: Wembley Friday: Hackney Then it was follow wherever West Ham was on a Saturday and Canterbury or Eastbourne on a Sunday But, it would not be unusual for me to go six times a week. Damn, what a Speedway NERD I was!
