    Plymouth Gladiators 2024

It’s a sad state of affairs for the league and speedway in this country, not a solely Plymouth issue when a team is starting a brand new season with only 6 of their 7 permitted riders. Guests are the bane of the sport and it just gives a complete unprofessional look. The fact that teams and rule makers havn’t already come to this conclusion in advance that in the event of injury, there isn’t enough riders to cover and go round is the biggest worry of them all. This has now happened for at least 2 seasons for multiple teams but instead of doing anything about it, just continue to plow on with the farcical guest situation. The Premiership has started to get its act together and is becoming more professional and things are being put in place to make an overall better product - The Championship is being left behind massively.
  2. Was there nobody else there to talk to?

Stop making such sensible suggestions - although, I’m going to assume even if this idea was explored it was quickly stopped to ensure the Premiership had 7 teams and less riders to find in the Championship.

How many times have I suggested that they should be 6 man teams? It makes no sense to be continuing in the Championship with 7 rider teams
  5. Refreshing to see and for it to be made public so quickly.
  6. This is why I love watching Tarasenko - great style and balls of steel. He really is a classy performer.

    Brummies 2024...

Copy and pasted from Polish site Sportowefakty: At the beginning of March, the Falubaz Zielona Góra team went to a training camp in Świnoujście. Unfortunately, the trip ended unlucky for Piotr Pawlicki, who returned home with an injury. Piotr Pawlicki was preparing intensively for the new season and suffered a muscle injury just before the first training sessions on the track. The athlete did not hide that he needed a few weeks to get back to full fitness. The Pole had to withdraw from the first matches in Great Britain. From the machine park, he also watched his friends who were training at 69 Wrocławska Street in Zielona Góra. - Rehabilitation is going well, I feel very good and I can't wait to get on the motorcycle - admitted the Falubaz Zielona Góra rider . ADVERTISING The 29-year-old was on the starting list of the Golden Helmet final, which is also the Jerzy Szczakiel Memorial. The competition will take place on April 1. There is a good chance that we will see Pawlicki on the track. - It's not easy watching the boys skate, but I have to be patient and wait for my turn. [...] Next week I will get on a motorcycle - he added —————— For further context, Zielona Gora have said that Pawlicki won’t be riding next Tuesday or Wednesday in sparring meetings either. But, Pawlicki will be back on a bike from next week at some point - So I wouldn’t expect him to be riding over here next Monday almost certainly…. Or even the following Monday at home to Oxford, as it sounds like he could be busy elsewhere in Poland!

There was definitely a guy from the sun there as he asked a question.

No need to apologise to me. I’ve asked a question, not made a statement - if the answer is no, then that’s fair enough.

Rumour that Milik has already gone - any truth in that?

Unibet offer Polish top flight, Swedish, GP and World Cup also. Bet365 offer all of the above, plus the UK Premiership and Polish Liga1 and the televised Liga2 match usually plus individuals.

2 weeks away - and it’s already been said that Piotr Pawlicki will mark a decision nearer the time if he rides in that or not.

Zielona Gora practised in Poland today, minus Piotr Pawlicki who didn’t take part

When will these promotors ever learn? Before a wheel has even been turned, they serve up an absolute crap team and already threatening the “if fans don’t turn up every week, then we won’t be racing next year” line. Who had that on their bingo card before the end of March?

Absolutely correct - the red ‘B’ all over the legs makes you feel abit like you’re tripping and is abit of a design mess. Pawlicki not being there isn’t a surprise at all and has made Rogers look even more stupid than normal.

Admittedly my nearest track is about an hour and a half away from me now, but I havn’t been to a single speedway match since Somerset closed down. I travelled all over the country and beyond to away matches for a number of years. I’ll watch it on the TV, especially Polish leagues, but half of the appeal of going every week and paying admission was to watch my team.

They’re starting early to ensure that all of those blank weeks in the middle of the summer when it’s lovely weather outside and prime conditions for speedway, everybody can sit round and do nothing to allow for 3 matches in a week and double headers in September and October. All part of the plan!

In this scenario, I don’t think that is actually the case. He is now due to be missing sparring meetings in Poland and other parts of their fitness preparations for the new season. That’s going some just to avoid Perry Barr at all costs in March!

    Pits crew attire

Im just waiting for someone to give the argument about team suits being a bad idea because they can’t identify them or because it means they can’t show off their individual character…. Get with the times!

Again, something we are already miles behind on in comparison to Poland. All clubs over there already have to do this and use a set template with league sponsors all positioned the same on each club’s shirt, along with their role and which rider they are representing. It looks very professional although probably not an essential, given some of the costs already facing teams in this country. All this about limiting riders to only 1 mechanic and health and safety is a load of nonsense too.
  24. Unless he managed the same feat at Newport too, he 100% cleared the fence at Somerset. I can’t recall who that was against though. On that note, I remember Jordan Frampton crashing and going up and over the fence at Somerset aswell along with his bike. Got up, walked back to the pits and then scored a maximum against us. Some effort!
  25. One of my favourite debuts for Somerset was Matt Read. Must of been back in 2003 if memory serves me correctly, as we had been pretty rubbish and he came in as a new signing against Exeter. He romped to a paid maximum from his programmed rides before finishing on 12+2 from 5 rides and featuring one of my favourite speedway photos of years gone by as seen below. He became abit of a cult hero at Somerset… even more so when he had an almighty crash and ended up clearing the safety fence. Unfortunately his career was cut short but a long track crash I think it was but a definite triumph!
