I thought Gollob might have given Rickardsson a run for his money in the Final - but he drew the dreaded gate 3, which by the second half of the meeting was hopeless. Poor old Scott Nicholls, who had ridden into the main event relatively easily, then ended up with gate 3 twice and soon said bye bye.

I certainly do remember the bugle boy. He used to stand on the middle of the back straight at Foxhall in the 70's. Infact, I took my brother in law to his 1st meeting at the home match vs. Poole the other week and I was telling him all about the bugler then. I seem to remember he disappeared towards the late 70's then re-surfaced in the Sigalos/Cook era in the early eighties. I then moved away from East Anglia and have only recently returned so I don't know if he's still a regular fan.
