    3-3s

NL match yesterday at Coventry featured 13 3-3s! Anyone know if 13 out of 15 3-3s in a match is a record for the third tier? My guess would be it is... Indeed has there been any more thasn 13 3-3s in a 15 heat match since this format was introduced?

    Newspaper Coverage

When Wimbledon reopened in 2002 we tried everything we could to get coverage in the London press; the Evening Standard (then still a paper people used to buy) and the freebie, Metro (run then by the same people who ran the Standard) The Metro Sports Editor flatly refused to cover Speedway even having the cheek to say "it wasn't something that would appeal to his readers" Quite how he knew what his 'readers' thought considering they're just punters picking it up on train seats or at station entrances I really couldn't say! The Standard equally blanked us. There were some days when there was no football on and the crowd at Plough Lane would certainly be the biggest paying crowd attending a sporting event in London that day/night and yet still the London local paper wasn't even giving the meetimg a one line mention as a fixture.. Around this same time the Standard stopped covering Dog Racing too so I suspect some 'politics' were at play.. Am happy to report we get excellent local newspaper coverage at Kent Speedway from the Kent Messenger's Sittingbourne News Extra weekly paper.

Are you serious? These grossly inaccurate comments about crowd levels are getting extremely irksome now...

What can I say. 300 is a massive underestimate. I think perhaps you have no comprehension of how large the main grandstand is at CP...

The 'person' who wrote it was standing with the promoter Mr Cearns who knew the turnstile figures..! Quite where you got the idea it was a tiny crowd from I really couldn't say. Other than you should've gone to Specsavers!!

Moggo was NOT "missed" as you put it. I'll leave it to Bryn to explain but he most certainly DID email to the very address only a short time before he was communicating with Moggo.
  13. Don't suppose this is going to get rearranged for next Weds is it (after the KL vs. Swindon EL match)?

I thought it was any sport you could get a ticket for Rob - which in your case is ANY sport!! Always think that the Badminton equestrian event is a bit cruel - I mean what would happen if one of the horses swallowed a shuttlecock?! LOL!

    Crayford Reunion 13/4/2015

You tell me a system then whereby EVERY rider who's ever ridden for a club (who's still alive that is!) can at a stroke be contacted (oh, and then replies back) and we'd have the perfect blueprint for a reunion. Instead we have contact numbers and sometimes emails and people (often VERY hard pressed already people) contact those who they know of and seek out others. In the process emails are sent (as to Moggo) and no reply received... Did they receive the email? Did they read it? Am I a mind-reader? And others never get contacted because, er, no-one has details for them. After all, 'Trap1' on here hasn't even revealed who they are NOW! So quite how they think that'll help them get invited to such reunions in the future I really don't know!

Invicta Pairs At Central Park Mon 13/4

Not at all. The 4-3-2 is flawed as it discriminates against a winner and surely no Speedway race should do that. If you have - as we did yesterday - a Pairing structure based (broadly) around one 'heat leader' type rider and one three pointer then the 3-2-1 format works best. The fact that two points separated the top five pairs is absolute confirmation that the format chosen was the correct one. I understand that the International Best Pairs competition is 3-2-1 and of course the World Pairs always was too..

    Crayford Reunion 13/4/2015

I suppose I should be used to the natural position of the average BSF poster: to pour scorn on all the efforts of others but even by those standards this is truly something else. For your interest (though frankly I've no idea why we should explain ourselves to you) the idea of having former Crayford riders along - with the first priority considering it's the 40th. anniversary of '75 being marked, being the 'Class of '75' - came as soon as it was agreed that the meeting on April 13th. was to be this Invicta pairs meeting. The Press Release shows who have confirmed their attendance: FIVE members of the '75 team (including THE two most important riders in Crayford's history - I'm sure noone will be offended by such an assertion - Laurie Etheridge and Alan Sage). Now there appears to be an exception to that statement as Moggo seemingly wasn't aware of his invite. As the person who wrote the Press Release do you honestly think I'd have included Alan M's details in that if I had not been assured by one of the 'team' charged with inviting riders that Moggo had been contacted? Obviously I've been badly misinformed and to Moggo I profoundly apologise but I'm NOT going to apologise to gustix who indeed owes US an apology for his trouble-making on this thread.

    Crayford Reunion 13/4/2015

Have to say gustix's question puzzles me! What does he think a reunion is..? A reunion is what it says on the lid really - people gathering together to meet up again and share memories, catch up etc. And yes that's EXACTLY what our very welcome guests from the Crayford Kestrels teams of the past will be able to do on Monday at Central Park.

Hmm, sorry Waco but I really have to dispute your assertion (made in two postings now) that it was impossible to hear anything at the Fans Forum. there was an extremely lively debate with many great questions posed and answered! If noone could hear then a lot of people were making an extremely good impression that they could!!!!
