    Eastville, Bristol

Old bulldog the site i refer to is a current sports site that overlooks Bristol and is to the East, not under Bristol council. But its gone for now as i said in an earlier post would have been ideal,i will whisper it now "Lansdowne"i had a couple of site meetings the manager there used to be at the millenium stadium. I will return to my efforts at Cradley but tell me Old Bulldog what Council is Swainswick under?,that aint to far really is it?.

    Eastville, Bristol

It is somewhat unfortunate that a new location for Bristol has been rejected only this week. The local management were in favour, but the National board of Directors rejected the idea saying somewhat shortsightedly in my opinion. That the idea of Speedway did not tie in with there future ongoing plans for the site. This site was around 14 miles from the old Eastville site, and overlooked Bristol.

An Evening With Bruce & Co

Saturday night with Bruce, guest appearances by Bobby Boogaloo Swartz must say he hardly looked a day older, than i last saw him 15 years ago,Rocket Ronnie Corey now living, and settled near Gloucester,Kelly Moran, and Michael Lee. Bruce reckoned the rider he most feared as an opponent was Michael Lee who just shaded Kenny Carter, and he said he definately did not knock Kenny of in LA,just shut the gate on him, best team mate rider, and friend Boogaloo. As an evening i thought it was interesting, but Dick Bott? asked the pre arranged questions perhaps 4/5 taken from the floor, and that aspect was dissapointing not helped by microphone problems.Must admit the blond locks have gone, now wears glasses, and slightly heavier,on first imps he looks a lot different to 20 years ago,in fact at 1st i did not reckognise him,my missus says she would rather have Boogaloo any day now as opposed to Bruce, just a brief summary of the evening.

    Chasewater 1977

Nope it is still there they only used the old trotting track stables for the toll Road it is unused and falls under Cannock Council, the outline of the Trotting track is there one or two Floodlight pylons, no stands, cost a small fortune to erect a perimeter fence. I believe Main Man could give you details of the long track meeting.

    Coventry v Cradley 83

Would,nt be the one where Coventry never had an Heat winner would it?,i could not go that day,my mates walked in the pub after going to Cov and i would/could not believe Cradley had won everyheat, thought it was a wind up. Falcace if you log on to the Cradley site i am sure Steve or Phil Johnson will give you the details www.cradleyspeedway.co.uk

    Memories Of Station Road

SJW,maybe one day your memory will return to find your way to the NEW Cradley Heath.

    Memories Of Station Road

SJW surely mentioning Ivor Brown & dudley, you are mistaking Cradley Heath, and Long Eaton. Why? Well Ivor rode for Cradley, and is in Dudley but i agree the facilities at both tracks were similar, and i can understand that memories get longer.

    Costings

Could someone possibly help me with some costings please?. What would be a ROUGH cost to take up some turf, and put down a Speedway track of some 280 mtrs, with drainage, safety fence, starting gate etc, providing they would not be to prohibitive,i intend pursuing a possible opportunity that may be there. Also what guarantees have to be lodged with the Conference league prior/on joining?. I realise that i can find out most if not all of these things by going directly to the BSPA,but i would prefer not to involve them at the present time, until such times that we have progressed matters further.

An Evening With Bruce & Co

I believe that Bruce said his eldest is 21,and is the brains in the family, then he has a 17 year old who rides must be Ryan,he does moto cross, and then young Connor who does moto cross, but has dabbled with speedway causing quite a stir by all accounts,Bruce said Ryan was a little envious of the publicity Connor had received, and was now showing an interest in speedway.

An Evening With Bruce & Co

Just goes to show how persons opinions differ,I,and my wife were slightly dissapointed with Saturday night, maybe because Dan the Man was cut off before he really got going, maybe it was because of the few questions from the floor. I felt the evening was a poor attempt at a stagemanagement,I know full well had Bruce arranged it the show would have been better,as he is the ultimate proffesional, and still full of charisma. We both felt we paid Ten pounds for a Five pound night.,all in all i spent over One hundred pounds over the two days would i do it again?.No. I say this as a Cradley fan of over fourty years, and a Penhall fan for twenty years and a person who is constantly attempting to find a new site, but as i say this is just MY opinion.

    Costings

Mylor,i only wish. I know you were joking about Dudley Wood, but the guys behind the return of Cradley have everything in place except for LAND. No what we have in mind may be an opportunity that may or may not be there, and it arose during a conversation we were having about the plight of Dudley Wood. Cheers Deano. Christmas Quiz

Frigbo don,t insult Eric by suggesting he rode for the wolves, how they would have wished. He only ever rode for one British team "CRADLEY".apart from the guest appearances

Cradley Heathens <post 1980 All Time Team >

Hi Gemini i Know the question was not directed at me,but to Mark, but since we <Cradley>closed i have been to Coventry say 5 times, and Wolves about the same, but i am a Cradley fan. I still live in hope i only had a reply from Dudley council this week about a prospective site, this was a tentative enquiry, and they asked for Amplified details, and a business plan,so as you can see they are being Helpful.

    What Happen To

Well unless my memory fails me <thats all we have at cradley>,Peter never seemed to ride the Cradley track very well <i am sure someone will prove me wrong>for what reason i dont know,as it was far from a gaters track.Phil was the same as the other brothers could not gate to save his life.
  22. greyhoundp

    What Happen To

I think Phil was the most naturally gifted of the brothers Collins,i think he was to nice a guy,had he been mentally tougher then he would have been world Champ.
  23. greyhoundp

    Name These Riders

    Birmingham Speedway

There are people actively seeking a new site in Birmingham,my money is on Perry Barr greyhound stadium, leased by the GRA,freehold held by the b,ham city council,Oxford, belle vue, wimbledon, are all combined greyhound speedway sites owned/leased by GRA,I feel sure that if some business man/Promoter came forward "The Brummies"could be added to that list, for those of you that don,t know the location it is across the walsall road, from the old stadium, and is the OLD alexandra athletics stadium,so come ON forward PROSPECTIVE promoters.

    Dudley Wood R.I.P.

Hey i have,nt given up but WHAT are the fans doing???,we cannot just sit back, but thats whats happening,No one is going to knock anyones door and say here is a track for your speedway team. It looks to me that is what they are waiting for, cause NO-one is putting any sort of pressure on Dudley council. How many fans do Cradley have, seems to me there must be less than 50 of us,the rest are in the woodwork.
