Vissing, Kildemand, K Larsen, Bach all qualify, Wortmann reserve (but deserved to qualify!!). Tricky(very, very grippy!) track caused mayhem early on. It was never ideal but did improve somewhat later on. Wortmann unlucky not to qualify. His crash in the third (when he laid his bike down to avoid an almost certain collision with Kristiansen's back wheel) cost him dearly. Danish Fixtures For 2010

Not quite sure where to place this, but figured it made more sense to place it here as opposed to starting a new thread. Vojens' miserable start to the 2010 season with yet another home loss & yet again they were never led until the very, very end of the meeting. Heat 12 looked like the turning point and was one of several fine heats. Vojens were 6 ahead going into this heat. Hougaard was leading seemingly reasonably comfortably, Bjarne Pedersen never far behind whilst Jepsen Jensen was holding off Karpov for third. Vojens were on a 4-2 entering the third bend for the final time, but both Pedersen and Karpov came from seemingly nowhere to pass their men on the run-in to the finish line. A Karpov/Bager 4-2 in the 13th left it delicately poised & Pedersen/Lokajev made no mistake in the final heat. Hougaard (3-3-2-3-2-1) started off like a train, was as quick as anyone for most of the night but just had no response when Vojens really needed him. Larsen (1-1*-3-2*-1-0) like many was involved in some good races. Passed Bager off the final bend in the opener, then looked very good in the middle of the meeting but went AWOL at the end. Jepsen Jensen (2-2*1-3-0-2) fine value. Some dodgy gating but clever first bends & was always in the thick of the action. Lovely style, plenty of speed but just not as sharp at the start as some. Berntzon (0-1-0-2-2) started off slowly but got better and faster as the night on. He might possibly be the smallest rider I have ever seen! Nice style though, never say die attitude and was rightly awarded the battler award. Jakobsen (2-0-1*1*-0) Solid enough as a number 5, looked okay at times, but personally was expected a bit more. Pedersen (2-1-2*-1-3-3-2*) Looked a little sluggish early on, but came real good when it really mattered. Team rode well on a few occasions & was often searching for him team partner. Bager (0-3-0-0-0-1) One good ride (when he won!), unlucky to get squeezed out a few times and otherwise found the going tough. Karpov (1-0-3-1-1-3) A bit hit and a miss. Looked pretty quick more often than not. Gating a bit suspect on occasions but in the thick of the action and good entertainment. Lokajev (3-2-3-3-2-3) Sensational. Just plain sensational if he is only 16 years old as I was told. Definitely one to watch for in the future. One hell of a gater, too! Melchorsen (0-0-0) Not on the pace at all and found it tough.
  3. No worries, Iris. Will ask around later tonight. It shows how competitive Speedway is in Denmark. The 1st QF looks very, very tough!
  4. Hey Iris, do you happen to know what time these meetings start on Sunday? Looks like a couple of competitive meetings...may try and pop along assuming it's not on too early!
  5. They had the POTE as TBC in last night's programme, so I am guessing they are hoping to squeeze it in towards the end sometime, depending on weather.
  6. Not a good one either, although it did liven up a little after the interval, which was after heat 7...how random is that? 3 decent heats; Darcy Ward's pass on Schramm in heat 5, Schramm's and Gathercole's dice for 2nd in heat 14 & Schlein's last to second in 15. Good to see Troy Batchelor riding so well. Looked the best rider on show by far. Proctor was the surprise packet for me - didn't think he'd take to the Foxhall track. All the Aussies chipped in well, most of them improved as the night went on. Darcy Ward made some astonishingly awful gates. Hopefully he'll move a bit quicker out of the starts tomorrow night! Kennett & Woffinden pick of the bunch for Team GB. Kennett giving it everything, Woffinden fast when out in front. Barker was flying until his bike gave up at the start of ht 6 & Wright looked good until his crash. Hopefully he's not too badly hurt.
  7. Can't wait to see the Bridger & Batchelor races!
  8. Might even be tempted to visit my local track for this one, assuming there's not too many changes to line-up.

    Danish News 2009

Over the last 15 years or so, somewhere between 100-200 I'd guess

Absolutely ludicrous, if true. Why a track like Grindsted would need an airfence is beyond me. They hardly ever move off the white line there!
  11. The website pronounces "Pedersen" the proper way, not the Johno-butchered manner, which as Rabbit rightly says, is more like Petersen.
  12. What on earth happened to Piraterna?? Have they just vanished?

    2009 Youth Gold Trophy

There's half a Brit in there...does that count??
  14. Announced in last night's programme that Olly Allen will be replacing Shane Parker in the re-staging
  15. I think we all know, with a degree of certainty may I add, that that won't be happening! Silly Bagpuss.
  16. Nothing in life is certain, but I reckon there's a very good chance there'll be live updates
  17. Pretty sure it's "Association for Blind Dogs", which has been the case for the last couple of years

    Danish News 2008

It was a shame this match was ruined slightly by the weather. Good to know that not only England has dreadful weather! It started to rain just after 5pm in Grindsted and to be honest it never really stopped. It was light at times, but other times it got harder, which was especially evident after ht 9(the interval) and certainly caused Henka's accident. But full credit to all the riders - it couldn't have much fun towards the end of the evening! Had it been in the UK, I definitely don't think we'd have gotten more than 8-9 heats. As for the meeting, it was a pretty close affair. Grindsted started strongly with an opening 5-1 courtesy of the team riding Henka and Jesper Kristiansen (the Stoke one) and after that they were in control. Outrup kept it close at times but they were never really consistent enough to cause a threat. The match ended 47-40.ish! 2 programmes and a pen gave up after about ht 11, so not 100% on the final score, but it was defnitely a home win.

    Danish News 2008

Bjerre 14 Immense after a poor first couple of rides. Lyngsø 12+2 Most impressive I thought pulling off a few fine passes. Korneliussen 12 Like a rocket from the gate but seemed a little sluggish IMO. Jacobsen 7+1 Usually there or thereabouts and seemed to improve as the meeting went on Nilsson 1 Certainly not at all disgraced. Monberg 14+3 As you'd expect. Looked pretty sharp. Bit of a shame he's not riding in the UK this year Risager 12 Good showing, especially later on, but still doesn't seem like the same rider he was a few years back. Hansen 7+2 In the thick of the action - had a cracking battle with Korneliussen in one heat. Kus 3 Was expecting a lot more TBH. Was outgated more often than not. Kristiansen 2 Definitely had his moments. For what its worth, it was a rather enjoyable meeting. Not been to Esbjerg for about 10 years, but definitely looks like the track has shrunk! Some great racing though - Bjerre's third to first pass over the teamriding Kenneth Hansen and Jesper B Monberg was probably the highlight but some good battles all through the meeting and Esbjerg were the deserving winners.

    Danish News 2008

The weather is absolutely glorious 30 minutes away (from Esbjerg, not Hamburg! ) Stunning blue sky and barely a cloud in sight. Remember your shorts Iris! Can see a narrow away win tonight, but what do I know?

    Elrc 30/08

15+1 (from 6) in 2003, plus rode in the Tomas Topinka Testimonial (if memory serves) the following year, but was pretty average and struggled to beat Jan Jaros
  23. Think you do need to look at the bigger picture though. Considering they decided to hold the majority of the meetings on neutral venues, it was always going to be case. With only Belle Vue being a northern club in the EL, would a neutral venue such as Glasgow, Newcastle or Redcar generate a big enough crowd? It's a long way to go from Poole (who regularly have the biggest crowds in the whole country! ). It's a shame it got changed at all, as Sheffield can be a cracking racetrack on its day, but which other tracks would have been available on the Thursday?
  24. Reason given is "technical reasons", whatever that means. It will now be held at King's Lynn. Date remains 30th August. Official statement on British Speedway website. Interesting
