  1. BIRMINGHAM and Cradley will attempt to do battle once again on Wednesday (September 14, 7.30) with the restaging of the Alan Grahame Memorial.

The West Midlands rivals were originally meant to meet last Wednesday, before the fixture was pulled on the same afternoon due to a waterlogged track.

But the season finale is now all set with two balanced, competitive line-ups.

The Curtis Sport Brummies include both of their fit regular riders in Justin Sedgmen and James Pearson and are led by Josh Pickering who has been a Perry Barr crowd pleaser on numerous occasions this term as a guest booking.

They also include 2015/16 National League winner Jack Smith at reserve with rising American star Dillon Ruml the new addition to their line-up from the original sides.

Former Birmingham captain Tom Perry will be back on a bike for the first time in three years - but will be in the Heathens’ camp having begun his career with the former Dudley Wood outfit back in 2010.

Former British Under-21 Champion Tom Brennan also rides for the visitors with fans’ favourite Max Clegg their only new face after being unavailable last week.

Season Ticket holders and Advanced ten ticket holders are reminded that general admission prices apply - UNLESS they didn’t use their tickets for the Coventry challenge fixture at Perry Barr last month.

BIRMINGHAM: Josh Pickering, Dillon Ruml, James Wright, Simon Lambert, Justin Sedgmen, Jack Smith, James Pearson.

CRADLEY: Ryan Douglas, Max Clegg, Tom Brennan, Adam Roynon, Paul Starke, Tom Spencer, Tom Perry.

My second visit to Perry Barr last night as I was craving some speedway after the lions weren't riding last weekend.

Positives- Track can produce some decent racing. I liked the main grand stand and the facilities in there were good. Getting there isn't as bad now.. now the road works have calmed down. The Birmingham folk were friendly along with other supporters

Negatives- I felt disconnected from the action as you can't get that close to the track. The viewing is restricted in certain areas of the stadium. The support is low considering its in a major city. Parking is an issue with it only being open from 5 onwards. Didn't feel  and look like a long term home for the brummies

Only my opinion ofcourse but I don't get to many away meetings part from Leicester. In the end I will be back there to support the lions next year.

car park opening at 5.30 is normal ---  have to wait on volunteers arriving to man it and as gates don't open till 6 then this works for the club.  It is the Brummies home for as long as an agreement can be reached with the landlords .

  6. WOLF CUBS BACK ON TOP OF MSDL

The PARRY'S INTERNATIONAL Wolf Cubs regain top position in the 2022 MSDL with a 19-15 victory at Iwade over the Sittingbourne Crusaders.
The Wolf Cubs lost guest Jacob Fellows in the preceding National League clash with a broken leg. With Sam Woolley also out they were down to two riders. The home side four riders' names were put in a hat and drawn out with James Laker moving sides for the clash. The Crusader's captain was unbeaten in his four rides to notch a full 12 point maximum ! With Jamie Sealey winning two rides before a final heat crash causing extensive bike damage , this was sufficient to secure a win for Wolverhampton.
The home side lost Nathan Hargrave after two falls with Rhys Laker top scoring with 10 points with five second places and backed up by lady racer Taya Thirtle with 5 paid 8.
The league title will be decided at Iwade with Birmingham Bulls due there twice.
    SITTINBOURNE 15 ( Rhys Laker 5r 10, Taya Thirtle 4r 5+3, Nathan Hargrave 2r 0_

Never any dust at the NSS, which is what I'm accustomed to. Berwick were disappointing considering they needed a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

We left after heat 14 because we'd had enough, early start in the morning and if the traffic lights at the Scott Arms junction were still out  as they were on the way it would have taken an age to get home.  Thankfully the lights were working.

I understand why the promotion get kids involved in stuff on the centre green but it's hardly a compelling 15-20 minutes for others I'm the stadium.

the interval is normally 10 minutes. With the heat more track work and watering was needed so an extra few minutes was allowed --- not 20 mins of interval .

I hate to say it, but the weather forecast does not look good. :(

depends what weather forecast you look at . Met office gives  a 50% chance of some rain at 10am which helps with watering then rest of day a 20% chance of rain !!

Metcheck shows 0.1 mm of rain till 1pm!!

so please don't put people off going !!  BBC Weather is notoriously wrong anyway .

This is a night for Coventry fans to see a Bees team back on track for one night and hopefully many will travel the short distance up the M6 to Perry Barr

Read the Birmingham preview and seemed to me like they wanted it off. It being up to the Poole management to decide and about Poole prob wanting a stronger opposition. Also there were some fan comments on speedway updates meeting thread about Brum wanted it off and Poole wanted it on??

Not denying they worked hard with guests considering a lot of riders who they asked and turned Birmingham down wanted a lot of money apparently.

just read it and I don't think it reads that way. Just stating the facts that any cancellation would be up to Poole and that Poole would have preferred a full strength Brummies side --which they would too . In the end the team that represented them was under strength but never gave up and did the club proud producing some exciting racing and a total walkover some expected ,

What Dan Rose (Bournemouth Echo) put on twitter. So don't shoot the messenger!

The Brummies have just one of their own riders set to compete. Just spoke to Danny Ford, who addressed why the meeting wasn’t cancelled… (1/3)

“We only got the line-up yesterday afternoon from Birmingham. To put it simply, it wasn’t fair to those people who want to come down for holidays and see speedway.

“People have gone through expense booking hotels and stuff. While we appreciate it is two very different teams, hopefully we see some good speedway.”

and they saw some good speedway from a makeshift team that was unavoidable ... as for the line-up being Thursday afternoon --the original line-up was sent on time but Birmingham lost 2 riders with  injury on Wednesday night and spent hours finding late guests which they did --- how could they have given a revised line-up any earlier ??? Taking into account other fixtures that night, riders out injured, Speedway of Nations taking some away , time off work at short notice all credit to the lads who stepped forward to ride --and give Poole a tough battle.

We don't have any fixtures that need rearranging atm (well we would if was up to Birmingham!) so I don't see the problem!

really???  where do you get your information from?? Birmingham worked tirelessly to get riders to fill in for INJURED riders etc ... and those who rode for the Brummies gave it a great go and gave the fans some good racing to watch

  12. RAMPANT DUCTAIR BULLS REGAIN TOP SPOT IN MSDL

The Birmingham DUCTAIR Bulls were in rampant form at Perry Barr as they handing out a comprehensive defeat to title rivals Wolverhampton , who lost their young skipper Luke Harrison in heat 1. The 15 year old had bike problems during the race and pulled up on the centre green where his bike went up in flames. Thankfully the track staff put the fire out but Luke was out of the meeting which was a blow to his side.

The Bulls though took advantage of this and posted four maximum 5-1 heat wins plus a 4-2 as the match reached the stadium curfew time and reached heat 5 to give a result and two league points to Birmingham with a 24-6 scoreline.

Two crashes and a replaced air bag in the main meeting held proceedings up but the MSDL lads got all but one race in after the frustration of the previous week when delays meant that they only raced three heats , one less than is required to achieve a result against Sittingbourne.

DUCTAIR Bulls skipper Arran Butcher posted a three ride 9 point maximum whilst Freddy Hodder recorded a paid maximum of 8+1 in his 3 rides and Jacob Fellows weighed in with paid 10 with his 7+3 return.

For the Wolf Cubs Kyran Lyden and Jamie Sealey had 3 points apiece.

Birmingham DUCTAIR Bulls  24 ( Arran Butcher 3r 9 MAX, Freddy Hodder 3r 8+1 PAID MAX), Jacob Fellows 4r 7+3)

    Wolverhampton PARRYS INTERNATIONAL Wolf Cubs 6 ( Kyran Lyden 2r 3, Jamie Sealey 3r 3, Damian Nowakta 3r 0, Luke Harrison 1r 0)

Be lucky if you can afford Mulford never mind the rest if you run next season.( sorry for the negative comment, but it doesn’t look good for next season,by all reports)

where have you seen that reported ???  Not from the club or its owners -- they have a meeting soon with the landlords to discuss lease for 2023

Repeating gossip from the uninformed? I spoke with two riders who took to the track yesterday and both said it was garbage, peeling up in chunks, ruts and holes all over the place. John is a good track man but watering too heavy in advance can make the surface loose and dig out badly. The early reports about the Brum track were good, recent reports have been sketchy and last nights conclusion was it was dangerous and neither rider was excited about riding there again.

As you say i wasn't there and im definitely not likely to be there until the issues are resolved, Brum are hanging on by a thread anyways and blundering through meetings whilst denying any issues certainly won't last for long.

really ?  Be interested to see which riders they were . And getting water down into the base is essential and John had problems on the big bowser and had to use the small one in the afternoon .... and watering too late is not what tracks do so not sure what your experience is of track work ??  as for ruts and holes "all over the place"  ??  and dangerous ???? Having seen several tracks in recent weeks I can say I have seen much worse and that it was not bad as you have said ... there were a few problems which John worked on after the meeting till 1am but track was not as painted above .
