Well, looking at the weather forecast, I think that Josh is going to get another week to sort his equipment out!

depends which forecast you look at!  few showers in morning ( saves John watering) then dry from 2 with a possible shower after 9/10 .

Negative postings don't help with weather !!

It's been very dry and windy so I'd be shocked if there was much dirt on it.

Most of any top dressing would have blown away especially on to the dog track which wouldn't have pleased the landlords.

I'm sure they'll get some water down if it doesn't rain and some dirt created or added.

No top dressing blew away!!  They got water into it although had to do a repair job on the bowser .... track will start slick till it beds in and more dirt will be added. The riders all commented at the track being good to ride ....

You do not seem to have understood his not very well phrased point.
Yes, the teams will have been run by very enthusiastic individuals but out of those ‘ ghost teams ‘ how many were actually trying to find land and build a stadium to bring that team back into existence ?

    Answer : Probably almost Nil.

Both Halifax and Castleford , who appeared in the NJL, had advanced plans in place and Halifax even had land secured before the schemes collapsed and both teams ceased to exist as an entity in the league.

totally wrong on NIL . All those who were the nomadic clubs were actively seeking sites and some came near and this was monitored. The pandemic has made this difficult but there are active searches progressing.

And the Midland [Northern/Southern] Development Leagues need to be reinstated. This was an invaluable stepping stone between training schools and the National League; now it has (mostly) gone, people wonder why there is a shortage of riders!

there will be more clubs in the 2022 MSDL ..... a lot of work going in to getting riders valuable track time

One of the major issues is investment in the sport at 'lower than grand prix' level. Instead of paying riders daft money, clubs should be buying one or two smaller bikes and give the kids a taster an hour before the meeting starts. Parents aren't willing to spend on all the gear for the kid to hate it after one lap, unless they already have a speedway background.

Advertise it as a free trial for kids and the parents get in free just the once. Even if they don't want to be a rider they may just become a supporter. Needs to be a huge carrot to get people through the gates, this might not be it but it's a different idea..

Apologies for hijacking the Brum thread.

quite a few tracks would not be able to do anything an hour before within their planning permission which only allows even the warm up of engines from a set time . Plus the track man is usually finishing off his watering etc . Nice idea but not practical

  6. Track work starts this Wednesday and the drains are being updated and cleaned out and some more of these were done today along with a variety of other jobs . The air fence had to come down as there will be a new one for the season and the kickboards are in the process of being painted . Was good to see a few new volunteers there with most of the regulars.

Unfortunately your admission pricing model doesn't  make good business sense.
A family ticket at £20 for two adults and unlimited number of kids actually means adults at £10.00 each kids free. And absolutely no way would two adults (no kids) happily pay "full price" for tickets meaning that the actual admission price for adults would need to be £10.00
Given that £10.00 would yield only £8.33 after Vat the promotion would need to attract double the number of adults just to make the same income if they charged for the normal going rate for adults and kids.
Much better that the promotions charges something along the lines of full price for adults and allow 2 children per adult in for free and charge "young adults" between 16 & 18 half price.

    Birmingham have u11's free, 12-16 £3 and students with proof 17-22 £5

With respect will that even be possible next season? There were 3 teams only this year (thanks to the board) of which Eastbourne aren't competing) so leaves Brum, Wolves (who will also be PJL) and possibly Kent?

A sad demise when it featured double figure entries 10 years ago

there may be other clubs entering teams in 2022 .... but this level of racing is important and the tracks that do run it are giving their fans more value for money at the same time as giving important track time to the youngsters coming through

I'd be happy to give Roynon a chance on a 5ish average. A good gater which is a bonus for a second string or reserve because they get the inside gates and once ahead has speed and good track craft. I know he's had injuries but a lot of them haven't been his fault, he's just been in the wrong place at the wrong time, whereas Bates seems to create his own issues.
