  1. Taken from today's Evening Star: Foxhall to stage benefit meeting for Kim FOXHALL Stadium, Ipswich is to stage a Kim Jansson Benefit meeting on Thursday, October 2. The teams will be Ipswich versus a Kim Jansson Select side. Six-rider teams will compete over 15-heat match plus a champion of the evening second half. The meeting is being sponsored by Brian & Pete Simmons of Sano UK, Gordon Holloway of Parkside Transport, Brian Clay of Plusdot Computer Services and Clive Webb of GC Webb & Son Builders. All proceeds from the evening will go to the Kim Jansson Fund. Jansson was left paralysed after crashing in Sweden.
  2. I have to say, that I agree with you Lupus.
  3. Can I add my voice to the coming up to tapes music....what was that all about, 3 tunes intros all played at the same time , just need a fanfare of some sort, then at least if you had snuck off to the loo or to get drinks, food, you could at least identify when the next race was about to start....just my opinion you understand. Also can't stand those cheesy, Wonderful Copenhagen, Wizard of Oz type themes, but I think the Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia bit when all the crowd (of Brits) were waving their flags in time to the music was brilliant.
  4. Something not quite right with Jarek ATM I reckon, family bereavement aside that is. He looked very pale, last week at Ippo

    Danish Gp

I thought Bomber said that Hans and he had a problem, as well as Hans and Freddie, not Bomber and Freddie And Rob, no-one is saying that Dribble did it intentionally, just that Freddie should not have been excluded For you to call Freddie names, is rather pathetic TBH, and don't go blaming your cold on your total biased viewpoint.

    Gp Series 2009

No disputing the fact that Bomber and Nicholls are good solid BEL riders, but that is all I'm afraid, they just cannot seem to cut the mustard on the World stage and are found wanting everytime. Time as has already been said, to let others have their chance, from whatever nation they come from. It's ridiculous to say that the 2 Brits have to be in it for the sake of Cardiff, people don't just go to Cardiff to see those 2 do they . Anyway we would have a British wildcard there. And as for Tai, when Johnno interviewed him the other night on TV, I'm sure he said that "he was born in Scunthorpe and you can't get anymore British than that"!!

    Danish Gp

Good GP I felt tonight, and big well done to Tomasz. Must admit bad decision by ref over Dribble/Lindgren, no way should Freddie have been excluded, still justice was served when Dribble was excluded. (not saying it was dirty or anything, but Dribble definitely went into Freddie ) Roll on Cardiff.

    Team Gb

With that first team Rob, I don't think you need worry about the 2nd team . I'm with Star Lady and Spook. Blood those youngsters this year, we are not going to win anything this year, so get some mileage in those youngsters. Kennett Woffinden Allen King Wright.

I think you will find that it does : http://www.british-speedway.co.uk/news.php?extend.1490
  11. Oh Lordy....this was in the local paper: OPERATION Stack is again in place today in Felixstowe Suffolk. Lorries stacking up at the Port of Felixstowe caused by Danish lorry drivers seeing a queue at the checkouts at Tesco and thinking it was Johnno's testimonial ticket queue so have parked up and joined, as they want to guarantee they can get some tickets. Apparently there is a big demand for them in Denmark and so they have been sent over to get some. Bit difficult at work though as there are now about 100 drivers queueing in the store, and it's making it very difficult for the shoppers to get their trollies round the store.
  12. I can now see why Johnno fitted in so well at Brandon last year
  13. Think this taken from speedwayworldtv: THE FIM have confirmed the regulations for the richest race in speedway at the end of the season. A prize fund of $200,000 will be up for grabs in the last heat of the Grand Prix series at Gelsenkirchen on October 11. Last year, Andreas Jonsson won $100,000 for his win in the German Grand Prix to mark the 100th GP since the competition began back in 1995. However, this year's prize heat will be an extra race on the card after the German GP has completed - and it will feature the winners of the four meetings deemed as Super Prix, those being Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Cardiff and Gelsenkirchen. The winner of the race will pocket $120,000 with the consolation prizes being $40,000 for second place, $25,000 for third and $15,000 for fourth. A chance to the World Cup regulations announced at the FIM Congress was that teams will revert to being made up of five riders, as it was agreed that the six-man format used in 2007 was unsatisfactory. Ole Olsen has signed a new three year deal to continue as Race Director for the Grand Prix and World Cup series, and Olsen is also a member of the SGP Commission alongside CCP President Roy Otto and FIM Sporting Director Ignacio Verneda. will help push the tickets for this year, an extra race for a large purse, sounds like a great finale to the GP's , however have to hope we have 4 winners of those picked GP's, otherwise could cause problems

    Scott Nicholls

Well, my first thought on seeing the incident from on the 1st bend was that Scott took Bomber out, and we were shocked that the red lights didn't come on.Bad bad decision (or non decision by the ref) However, what concerned me more, was the fact that with Bomber still down on the track Nicholls didn't even go check he was OK or did he want a lifty back or anything. And before any of you ask, yes I do know Nicholls. And I'm fairly certain he will not be at Ipswich next season, why on earth would Coventry want to get rid of, in all honesty, probably their most successful Captain. What I would like to add though, is why should it matter what nationality Scott Nicholls is, as regards to people seeing incidents differently. What I felt I saw was Scott, having been 3rd, Holta taking 2nd placed Bomber wide and allowing Scott through briefly to 2nd before Bomber re-passed Scott,...... going into the last lap, Scott then smacking into Bomber causing him to fall. And no exclusion.!! End of.

  19. taken from speedwayworldtv.: JAROSLAW Hampel has suffered a complicated hand fracture in a Swedish league meeting. He may not be back on track this season. A worse setback could hardly have happened for Jarek, at this moment of the speedway season. Hampel, who had some motor problems in the spring, was now getting back to his best form. He won the Speedway World Cup with Poland, and he took second place in the Czech Grand Prix last Saturday. "I am back on the right track. Now I can chase," he said with a smile in Prague... In the Swedish league match between Dackarna and Elit Vetlanda, Hampel had an accident with Fredrik Lindgren. The Polish rider lost control of his machine and his Swedish colleague was unable to avoid him. "We still do not know how long Jarek will be ruled out for. It depends on a medical examination. First speculations suggest three months' break," says Stanislaw Kryjom, Unia Leszno coach Poor Jarek get well soon.
  20. As Starman has said we are in a cross over period, and think Middlo's probably got it right, although my reaction was David over Simon TBH, but as events have turned out what a good judgement call that turned out to be.(get well soon David) The youngsters have to be given a chance, and this year is probably better than ever for doing just that. That's what the Aussies are doing, and what Denmark had to do a few years ago. So, whilst I think they will qualify no problem, realistically can't see them winning, but there time will come. It's interesting, that people on here, blast fans for supporting foreign riders in GP's etc., but feel it is there right to belittle the Team manager, double standards I feel, let's get behind the whole team, and that includes the manager
  21. I have to agree TC, thought that was the most boring one-sided meeting I've ever seen, and Ole Olsen should be ashamed of himself. To my mind we had 3 of the Worlds top teams there tonight, and 2 of them were not even at the races. Just hope that the Coventry track team don't let him get any where near their track for Monday. For me that meeting has summed up all of the rubbish sky have been dishing up week after week this season (Cardiff the exception of course), and no wonder people are not interested in speedway anymore or are leaving in droves.
  22. Don't forget Tobi Kroner Edit: Even more reason not to forget Tobi now, he's got through from Lonigo tonight, beating the likes of Jarek, Max, Holder.
  23. There is a full coach load of us coming from Ipswich
