Thanks for that Arnie. Looks like that is the case. -
Leicester vs King’s Lynn - Thursday 21st March

I didn't watch the meeting, but from what I can gather, the heat 2 incident happened on the final lap and the other two riders finished the heat to get a 5-0. Could neither of the Leicester riders have pushed round or remounted for a point? The decision seems reasonable to me. -
Citicise Tai all you like, but ask yourself this question. Which rider at the Premiership Media Day made a comment that resulted in a speedway story getting into yesterday's copy of The Sun?

Oxford vs Sheffield - Thursday 21st March
Grachan replied to Bojangles's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
One thing I did notice is when the riders were brought back for an unsatisfactory start they were immediately put back on 2 minutes. No problem at all, as it was immediate, but what happened to the "one minute" warning? Anyway, when I think of the atmosphere at some speedway meetings being dead and drawn out and plain dull, Oxford put on a good show. It felt like you were being entertained, which is how it should be. I still can't get used to the riders not coming out of the pits on the 3rd and 4th bend though! -

A good evening of speedway. Once again Oxford are showing how to present meetings, and are probably reaping the benefits of it by bringing in a packed crowd (although attracting fans from Swindon, Reading and Coventry probably helps with that too!). Sheffield were unlucky not to get a draw due to Woffy's engine failure, but you could see it coming with flames coming out of his exhaust at the start. Great to have a good scoreboard and a countdown clock with riders ready to go in every race before it got to zero. Is this a British speedway thing or is this an Oxford thing? -

Interesting match up. Sheffield stronger at the top but Oxford stronger at the bottom. Could go either way. Might just dig out my old super-fashionable Sheffield Tigers polo shirt and pop along! -
Polish League to race on Thursdays from 2025
Grachan posted a topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've been seeing this all day, but can't see anything on here about it. As part of a TV deal the Polish league is due to ride on Thursdays next year despite it being reserved for British League. Not sure what the "nuclear action" is, but it sounds pretty drastic! Slag. No more driving in the English Premier League?! The authorities of the Ekstraliga will use the nuclear option - WP SportFacts From the 2025 season, Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga will also be played on Thursdays. This solution, although controversial, was necessary to take care of the interests of television. Now it turns out that it will also have serious consequences for speedway riders. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An earlier start of the speedway weekend was therefore necessary. However, it is worth mentioning that this solution has one drawback. Thursdays are slots reserved for the English Premier League. The Speedway Extraleague has been talking to the English for several months so that the Polish league would be given priority for these two games. However, there is no consent from the other side for this and there are many indications that there will be none. Therefore, the authorities of the Polish speedway will most likely have to use the nuclear option. As we have been able to determine, from next year we should expect the introduction of a ban on confirmation to start in Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga speedway riders who have contracts in the English league. Let's add that, for example, this year in the British Premiership there will be as many as twelve riders who have contracts in Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga. -
I'm sure it won't happen. It's just that I used to drive past the Moto Parc on the way to Blunsdon and it would be the perfect place for a speedway track. Someone should do it even if it isn't the last lot at Blunsdon. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. Ooh, I feel a song coming on.
-
Yeah I know. Never say never though, eh?
-
Being a "glass is half full" kind of guy, I am at least positive that Terry Russell released this statement as the silence since the statement that they had located somewhere to build a track was deafening. So, let's play a game. Let's assume this is true that there is a location found that is a similar distance from Swindon centre as Blunsdon. Foxhill Moto Parc, surely? Obvious place to put a speedway track. Why release this if it isn't true? I'm sure there are many theories regarding that! In the meantime, we can only hope.

I reckon I got grassed up. They should have flogged me a ticket while they had the chance. I've kind of lost interest now.
-
Yes. The same website that provides the ticket information.
-
I emailed to: club@oxfordspeedway.club cc: tickets@oxfordspeedway.club (Both are shown on the website)
-
Sent an email chasing them up on 14 January. Again, no response. I guess they don't want my custom.
-
I don't really have a problem with either of these. One is the luck of the draw - typical in most sports - and the other isn't really relevant as they are separate days and separate points. A more negative thing, for me, would be a rider winning the World Championship in practice.
-
Copying MotoGP, who have a half-distance sprint race at the end of practice. Don't see the point, really, although it does make practice a bit more interesting. Actually, that probably IS the point.
-
Hi Hilly. Are you connected to the club? I sent an email of 4 January, to the "club" email and the "tickets" email, asking: "I was wondering about your 10 meeting pass that you mention on your website. Can this be shared between 2 people. Would I, for example, be able to use it for both my son and myself on the same night - making that two meetings out of the 10?" EDIT - seeing your response has in"spire"d me to re-send it so let's see if I get a reply this time.
-
Thought I'd mention that I did this. I sent an email to the General Enquiries address, and copied in the tickets address. Never received a reply.
-
Er... no.
-
Don't see what the problem is. After all, to quote the article: "Gulls owner Clarke Osborne says he can give a ‘cast iron guarantee’ that the club won’t leave the ground unless there is a ready-to-go new stadium to move into."

Well, this is a signing that has attracted interest by quite a few people - including myself. I'm not sure if I've even looked at a Workington thread before. The only time I've seen Celina Liebmann race when she was in the SGP2. She struggled in that meeting against riders who, I guess, were above Championship reserve standard. At the same time, she had no trouble beating the reserves who, presumably, were below it. It would be great to see a female rider in the sport who can compete against the men. If anyone can, she can. She's a proper rider with a good style and looks like a decent gater from the couple of races I watched on Youtube.

For a short period of time, Swindon used to have local bands playing on the greyhound track by the starting gate during the interval. I thought it was a shame that they didn't keep that up. I liked it.

24 quid to watch 4 blokes following each other round for less than 15 minutes! What the Henry!
-
Ha ha. I thought they were topical jokes based on my name and then suddenly realised that you can't actually see what my name is!
