No action against Doyle.
Common sensed prevailed in the end. (Six words you don't often see on a Speedway forum).

The first race I saw was at Weymouth v Crewe in 1974.
Heat 1 - Dave Morton, Kelvin Mullarkey, Russell Foot, Ian Cartwright.
As far as I know, only Kelvin Mullarkey is no longer with us.

I agree. Should be awarded 0-75 everytime there is a call off like this where the meeting could unquestionsbly gone ahead.
Promoters doing this kills people's enthusiasm. Someone should have gone there yesterday to investigate it.
We might have a situation where Jason Doyle misses a match through no fault of his own and gets a fine or a ban yet promoters can do this.

It's not really that difficult. They used different flights. Doyle's was delayed. Lidsey's wasn't. Could easily have been the other way round.
It's not an "excuse". The flight is there to be seen on the Stanstead arrivals board. He probably gets this flight every week, and it gets him here in plenty of time for Monday meetings.
Unfortunate, but there you are. RyanAir for you.

Estimated arrival time for the flight is 16:33 (scheduled arrival was 12:20). So he's not out into arrivals until at least 5pm. Even then he's not in Manchester until about 9pm without any delays.

I can't remember the exact logic of it, but they decided to put everyone's average up by about 40%.
For example, Nick Morris averaged 6.41 in 2016, but came in on 8.97 in 2017.
Doyle's real average in 2016 was 9.58, but they upped it to 13.41 over the winter. So he was always going to drop by around 4 points.

27 minutes ago, singy13 said:Well I've certainly never seen a plus 12 average, for any rider, in any speedway publication i.e. Speedway Star or matchday programmes..Also after scouring the excellent British League book by Peter Oakes I don't see any rider with 12 or above. I do of course stand to be corrected.
It wasn't his actual match average. It was the average he was given for team building at the start of the year following close-season assessments.
Good thing was, we were allowed a guest with an average of 14.08!
Swindon 2017 (thanks Arnie!):

Correct. Which is why he was never going to achieve it.
Jason was given an average of about 13.2 for team building one year in a bid to force the top riders out of British Speedway. Thankfully it never worked.

I watched this on BSN. A couple of things made me pay to watch it. One was to see the Workington track - which looks excellent. The other was I was interested to watch Celina ride and see how she did.
It's so typical of speedway these days for people to demand changes immediately - I guess it's a product of the points limit to concentrate so much on figures - but I think it would be a major mistake to try and replace her and I'm sure Workington won't do that. Not in the short term, at least. I hope not, anyway.
Yes, she's saddled with a 4 point average, but they knew that when they signed her and knew that wouldn't be easy to achieve immediately, but you can see just by watching her that there is a good rider there. Sure, she needs to improve her starting and first turns, but apart from that she's a good as many other reserves in the league. If the more experienced riders in the side can help her with that I reckon there's a bit of a star in waiting right there.
Comments that she is "way off the pace" are simply not true. In one race she passed one of the Redcar reserves for a point. In another she snuk past the other reserve momentarily. Not exactly ground-breaking stuff, but not "way off the pace" either.
She's also a charismatic interviewee (her dropping of the F-bomb made me chuckle) and someone whose rides I looked forward to seeing and also the main reason that Workington are the Championship side that I - as someone without a team - am most interested in at the moment.
Obviously she needs to start scoring more at some stage, but I can honestly see that happening if they stick with her and support her. She doesn't come across as someone who will be phased in trying to do that.
It's not all about the average. Swindon took Jason Doyle on a 13 point plus average one year and he was always going to lose about 4 points on that and I think they won the league that year.

when 2 minutes have elapsed after the leading rider has completed the heat (12.1.21)
That being the case 12.1.14 applies:
The Referee shall immediately disqualify any rider who they consider indulges in foul, unfair or dangerous riding.
If, in the opinion of the Referee, such conduct produces an advantage to the rider involved or affects the chances of one or more riders, the Referee may stop the heat and order a re-run.
If any rider is unable to cross the finish line as a result of foul, unfair or dangerous riding on the part of another rider who, inconsequence, has been disqualified, the disadvantaged rider shall be deemed to have finished the heat in the placing held immediately before the foul, unfair or dangerous riding and allowing for any advancement in placing following the
disqualification of the guilty rider.A similar system shall apply for a rider who, in the opinion of the Referee has deliberately laid down their machine or has left the track in the interests of safety.
So Kemp should have been excluded and Thompson awarded second.
Thanks for that Arnie. Looks like that is the case.

I didn't watch the meeting, but from what I can gather, the heat 2 incident happened on the final lap and the other two riders finished the heat to get a 5-0.
Could neither of the Leicester riders have pushed round or remounted for a point?
The decision seems reasonable to me.

Citicise Tai all you like, but ask yourself this question.
Which rider at the Premiership Media Day made a comment that resulted in a speedway story getting into yesterday's copy of The Sun?

One thing I did notice is when the riders were brought back for an unsatisfactory start they were immediately put back on 2 minutes. No problem at all, as it was immediate, but what happened to the "one minute" warning?
Anyway, when I think of the atmosphere at some speedway meetings being dead and drawn out and plain dull, Oxford put on a good show. It felt like you were being entertained, which is how it should be.
I still can't get used to the riders not coming out of the pits on the 3rd and 4th bend though!

A good evening of speedway. Once again Oxford are showing how to present meetings, and are probably reaping the benefits of it by bringing in a packed crowd (although attracting fans from Swindon, Reading and Coventry probably helps with that too!).
Sheffield were unlucky not to get a draw due to Woffy's engine failure, but you could see it coming with flames coming out of his exhaust at the start.
Great to have a good scoreboard and a countdown clock with riders ready to go in every race before it got to zero. Is this a British speedway thing or is this an Oxford thing?

Interesting match up. Sheffield stronger at the top but Oxford stronger at the bottom. Could go either way. Might just dig out my old super-fashionable Sheffield Tigers polo shirt and pop along!

I'm sure it won't happen. It's just that I used to drive past the Moto Parc on the way to Blunsdon and it would be the perfect place for a speedway track.
Someone should do it even if it isn't the last lot at Blunsdon.
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. Ooh, I feel a song coming on.

Yeah I know. Never say never though, eh?

Being a "glass is half full" kind of guy, I am at least positive that Terry Russell released this statement as the silence since the statement that they had located somewhere to build a track was deafening.
So, let's play a game. Let's assume this is true that there is a location found that is a similar distance from Swindon centre as Blunsdon. Foxhill Moto Parc, surely? Obvious place to put a speedway track.
Why release this if it isn't true? I'm sure there are many theories regarding that! In the meantime, we can only hope.

I've been seeing this all day, but can't see anything on here about it. As part of a TV deal the Polish league is due to ride on Thursdays next year despite it being reserved for British League.
Not sure what the "nuclear action" is, but it sounds pretty drastic!
From the 2025 season, Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga will also be played on Thursdays. This solution, although controversial, was necessary to take care of the interests of television. Now it turns out that it will also have serious consequences for speedway riders.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An earlier start of the speedway weekend was therefore necessary. However, it is worth mentioning that this solution has one drawback. Thursdays are slots reserved for the English Premier League. The Speedway Extraleague has been talking to the English for several months so that the Polish league would be given priority for these two games. However, there is no consent from the other side for this and there are many indications that there will be none. Therefore, the authorities of the Polish speedway will most likely have to use the nuclear option.
As we have been able to determine, from next year we should expect the introduction of a ban on confirmation to start in Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga speedway riders who have contracts in the English league.
Let's add that, for example, this year in the British Premiership there will be as many as twelve riders who have contracts in Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga.

I always find Moto GP interviews pretty uninteresting, possibly because the interviewer always asks "How do you feel?"
