    Ashworth Over Looked Why ?

At the moment we only have nicholls , loram , stead and at a push richardson and harris who can compete at world cup level . Ricky ashworth is a decent enough premier league heat leader , but a long way short of being able to compete at international level .
  3. Punishment for a late cry-off at the british final maybe
  4. Maybe he can think about his gate position in the final now to save a bit of time on the day .
  5. Somehow i dont think going down the rune holta / poland road with hans anderson would do britains future prospects any good . We are not that desperate yet , but we could offer jason crump a british license after all he was born in bristol .

    Cardiff 2008

Nobody who spent a sunny saturday in a wonderful city like cardiff would want to lose that experience to wembly . And anyway its almost 30 years since us victorious jocks swung from the crossbars and dug up the pitch and they still havent finished rebuilding it But if they hold a GP in march will our domestic season have to begin in january so as to allow certain riders time to get their set-ups perfected .
  7. My first cardiff and it was pretty good , but i took my daughter ( she was the main reason for going ) and she was overwhelmed by it all . She is 11 and her face when the riders came out in the trucks and with all the noise is something i will never forget . £7 for a flag , prog and airhorn (thats each) is a bit steep , but what the hell its only once a year . From where i was sitting , high up in the back straight , it looked like speedway in slow motion although it had its moments . Fireworks were good and poor old tony christie could hardly sing for laughing because of the airhorns . For me though the two highlights were seeing glasgow win at newport the night before and the poles - what a great colourful bunch of people . I was sitting with a few of them and their excitement at being there rubs off on you . I think it is a safe bet i will be back next year and i hope they sit me next to the poles again .
  8. Just got back - great weekends entertainment . Seems the dust problem must be an afternoon thing cause towards the end of the meeting it was swirling about eveywhere and on friday evening there wasnt a problem at all . How those people could stand at the 3rd and 4th bends is beyond me . Anyway i am not normally too fond of these individual meetings , but this one wasnt too bad - what a prospect chris holder looks . This was the first time i had seen him ride and his pass on troy batchelor at the 3rd bend was breathtaking . Bet the IOW are sick he is riding in the under 21s next sunday . Only dissappointment was there was no zorro or andre compton , but i really enjoyed my two meetings at newport(especially friday) - its a great little stadium and regardless what anybody says there are poorer tracks in the PL than newport . Definently three days in the warm welsh sunshine with brilliant speedway i have enjoyed immensely and cant wait for next year .
  9. I think it wont take me long to get sick of listening to rod stewart in drag . So it will be turn around and go back to the bar .

Doesnt really matter about what the weather does on the saturday as pubs and the stadium both have roofs . But we want really nice weather for the real main event of the weekend at newport the night before .

    Cardiff Track

In last mondays rained off broadcast on sky when the lovely sophie was interviewing colin meredith i am sure he said him and his team move in on monday . They do this track every year so im sure it will be fine and i for one cant wait as its my first time there .

    Lee Richardson

Whether simon is ready or not doesnt matter . He will replace richardson next year as the second brit as lee has had his chance and is evidently not up to it and nobody else is remotely near able to race in this class .

    Tips For The Swedish Gp

Trouble is crumpie was the obvious choice , but at 6/4 you have to lump plenty on and then an EF or a fall and your well out of pocket . So were left to try an look for a bit of value for a smaller stake - betcha greggie was decent odds for a each-way bet .

    Lee Richardson

Watching that tonight you really have to wonder if we are going to have any GP riders next season . Nicholls looked paceless and richardson looks completly out of his depth . Will be interesting to see how simon stead does at cardiff because he might be the only hope for next year .
  15. According to the advert in the SS its one o-clock .

    Paddy Mills

Can anybody give me any information about a rider who rode for norwich just after WW2 called paddy mills . My father used to talk about him a lot and i was wondering what happened to him ? He rode for norwich from 1946 till 1952 , but i cant find anything more about him before or after .

    Nikolai Klindt

Im sure this is the same rider i saw at the scottish open at armadale last season . According to the programme he is 17 -born 29-12-88 - and at the time rode for fredericia in his homeland(denmark). He took his time to find his feet at armadale that night(not the first and wont be last)- two unplaced outings followed by two wins. He won ht10 beating daniel nermark, ronnie correy and jason lyons then won ht14 beating rusty harrison, anders nielsen and the meeting reserve adam mckinna . he finished that night in third place in ht18 behind mark lemon and david howe for a total of 7 points . But i was immpressed by him that night and as you can see by the company he was keeping is another decent danish prospect we can expect to see over here in the not too distant future .
  20. Is danny bird seeded through to the final ?
  21. I vaguely remember a rider for glasgow in the early seventies called nils ringstrom - im pretty sure he was norwegian .

    Rider Allocation

we were talking the other day about one of my favourite ever tigers riders - charlie monk. and i remember when the tigers rode at hampden park ( i was only about twelve at the time ) charlie was dragged kicking and screaming down to ride for sheffield for a season.it was blamed on the SCB - something about rider allocation. was this average based ? and as i remember charlie actually guested for us on numerous occassions that summer.
