  1. Gutted to miss this due to holiday but apartment WiFi and mobdro did the job. Yes racing wasn't awesome but as a spectacle it looked and sounded fantastic. Those criticising Danny are completely wrong. He is an absolute breath of fresh air.

One change I found interesting during the close season is that Coventry abandoned concessions presumably to keep a lid on their top line price. A fascinating precedent. Another option that friends have ventured is too categorise your meetings based on the expected challenge of the opposition. Enabling attractive pricing for certain meetings. I am sure the owners are aware of the back straight issue and it will be resolved at some point. Personally still pinching myself at how lucky we are.

    Periscope. A Promoters Nightmare App.

Glasgow hope to make much more use of the platform this year having dipped their toe in last. The new streaming integration within twitter is an exciting development. Although of course full race footage will not be permitted. Facebook mentions will also be great, once they relax it's current constraints on celebrities only.

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?

Another interesting team locally is the Glasgow Rocks basketball team. They have very little money, two full time back office staff, coach and players. There strategy is schools and they go for it in a big way. The players are contracted to train for two hours in the morning then every afternoon they are out at a local school taking workshops, preaching good health and handing out discount coupons. There crowd must average between 1000 - 1500 and its packed full of kids and families with crowds growing. Again they play in the fantastic surroundings of the Emirates arena. Personally think schools is tricky for speedway as the riders are off here there and everywhere. The Tigers did have Schools programme a few years ago run out of the learning centre at Ibrox but that fell away after Shane Parkers departure.

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?

Glasgow's crowds doubled last year, peaking at 2000 for the Grand Final. So a huge step in the right direction but still a lot of work to be done. Locally Braehead Clan set the benchmark with their use of social media, fan engagement and match day entertainment. No secret that the Tigers are trying their best to emulate a lot of what the Clan do, as it works! IMO what succeeded for the club last year. First and foremost the stadium renovations, Ashfield became a place you were proud to attend and tell others about. Partnerships with Glasgow Celtic, Glasgow Rangers, Knockhill and the Braehead Clan allowed the Tigers to promote at their venues and tap into their existing support. Signage - You cannot drive by Ashfield now without noticing it be it the fantastic Tiger mural at one end of the street, the 14 road signs dotted around the local area or the bright inviting billboards plastered all around the entrance. Use of Social Media to fill that dead time between meetings to keep that Sunday buzz going as long as possible, engage with the support' keep them informed and make them feel as important as they are. In British speedway the Tigers have the largest following on Instagram, second highest on Twitter and fourth highest on Facebook. They will become the club with the largest social media following in British speedway around March next year, passing Poole. Exposure on Radio Clyde through sponsorship of their morning sports desk slot and regular features in the Daily Record and Evening Times. Race Day - Pre Match entertainment (Bubble football, regular singers, face painting, lookalikes the list goes on) A fantastic well motivated Mascot, Races for the Kids, Jungle Balls (ball in bucket win a prize), Start Girls with dancing routines, a varied choice of music, theme tunes for the riders. There were numerous other initiatives that were tried last year some deemed a failure others whose long term success is hard to quantify. The work continues this Winter with working parties made up of fans, sponsors and management focusing on key growth areas for the club...There are already a couple of initiatives in the pipeline which should greatly enhance the fans enjoyment of their Sunday afternoon show. Of course a lot of what was done costs money but maybe just maybe with Glasgow, Belle Vue and (hopefully) Swindon leading the way Speedway can start to emerge from the rut its wallowed in for too long.

With Nick declaring no interest in the Premier lets hope Josh G pops up for Somerset tonight. With Mitchell Davey getting race practice back home you have to think that Edinburgh fancy him for their No7, presume he has or is going through the naturalisation process.

As much as I love team success, exciting racing is the be all and end all for me. That 2016 team will deliver in spades. Very happy.

    Ticket Prices 2016

No one celebrates paying more for anything but when you can see the improvements before your eyes then it is easier to swallow. I don't think you have been since the changes maybe your opinion would mellow if you had.

Yes you are right, you cannot rely solely on the racing to hook the fans.

    Ticket Prices 2016

Previously we couldn't benchmark ourselves against our local peers as the facilities were sub standard. That of course has now changed and our pricing compares very favourably against the ice hockey, rugby and football. Only the basketball offers better value for money. Our local rivals with their own 'facilities' were 17 last year and it's safe to assume they won't be any cheaper this. Other teams charge less but are handcuffed by both the condition of their stadiums and surrounding demographic. Don't agree with some of the pricing but I know that in March I will be walking into a clean, safe, well appointed stadium which will have been improved again over the winter.
  12. Congratulations to the Monarch's, far too good last night as we took our usual medicine at Armadump. Logging all these triumphalist videos in the memory banks, it will make what's coming even sweeter. Loved the passion shown by Sarj last night, that as a fan is what you want to see. Normally feel pretty jaded with speedway by this time of the year but this time around I can't wait for March. Bring it on!
  13. Must admit was surprised by the price rise, hand wringing. Glasgow cut their entry by 50p at the start of the season, have improved the stadium beyond all recognition at huge expense and put an exciting team together. Then shock horror they raise the price for a final by £2 (if you aren't disorganised) and £5 if you are. Seriously? Moan about that?....The club was dead this time last year, shutters were coming down but we are asked for £2 and it's grumble grumble, garbage! Edinburgh have again provided a winning team and again are losing money i think they are perfectly entitled to try and minimise that deficit if they can. And for Edinburgh if you were organised there was no price difference at all! Anyway should be a cracking weekend, really hope we keep it close on Friday so that Sunday can be an awesome contest.
  14. Hello, Are air horns allowed at Brough Park? Thank you.
  15. If you want secure parking then head past the stadium and the car park is 500 yards on your left. The walk back will keep you fit. The car park is well marked with banners.

Would imagine they will... Wouldn't surprise me if it was donation only, with the place packed to the rafters

It's excellent as was the Ipswich videos... You get the feeling that the clubs could do some very cool media work if the gospeed shackles were removed. Can't understand why home meetings are not broadcast via an Internet paywall. Charge 12 pounds and reap the benefits from away fans who don't travel anymore. Ice Hockey seem to manage it and they have a TV deal. Basketball has BBL TV and a TV deal.

It was a comment made by a fan who was a wee bit deluded. No one in an official capacity has been so rash. If Glasgow can increase crowds to around 800 then that would be a great bounce back.
