    Glasgow 2015

A quick round up of the highlights from last night's Supporters club night (that resonated with me) Gerry and Michael took to the mic to thank the previous promotion for keeping the club alive and enduring heavy losses over their tenure. Particular praise was singled out for Gordon Pairmen who had been great to deal with and had had the Tigers interests at heart from day one. The purchase was completed in the 29th of Dec so the work done since then has been huge. New stand roofs. Plumbing, drainage Toilets, Catering, electrics, brand new PA (special thanks given to Ian Beattie for his assistance) Brand new pits designed around comfort and convenience for the riders. Concrete has been laid around end of home straight and first second bend to allow installation of new modular welcome complex and bar, restaurant? area. Which is built and is being craned in next week. Floodlight poles are up with lights delivered next week. Back straight has had new walls built offering tiered viewing across the embankment. Disabled access is a priority New Fencing around the stadium Items not ready for tapes up Conversion of tote building into 3 hospitality units, awaiting planning permission Club have bought land from council at the back of new pits area to allow construction of academy (presumably including training track) and 4-500 car park. Brothers have spent £600k to date, club is clear of all debt. Michael asked that the supporters bring a friend and he seemed excited about the academy and the chance to turn some of the local kids lives around. Loads of new sponsors coming on board partly because of the brothers clout but also because they buy into the rejuvanation story and prospects for the local youth. Stewart D came on and ran through the team and his new role as stadium/team manager described as his dream job. Stewart was very funny as usual. Next up were Aaron and surprise guest Dimitri - Usual rider chat, looking forward to new season hope to do well, increase average, beat Edinburgh etc no love lost for Havelock. Jim MacGregor next up to summarise rule changes, was at the bar so only caught bits of this but apparenty the 'cant get off your bike rule at the tapes has been abandoned' (thankfully!) and Glasgow are going to have a 2 minute clock. Richard L and Kozza rep (Mark Blacklock) were up next - My drinks was kicking in by this point but main point of interest was Kozzas visa, lot of effort and money spent on securing it, special immigration advisors have been employed and all being well visa should be forthcoming in next week or so. Kozza was then phoned and gave a brief chat about his problems and desperation to get over. HOF presentation was made to Alan and Stewart with Gordon Pairmen statement (In South Africa). Raffle, Auction and Close Other Bits - Tigers now own a bike to use on promotional stand Michael Max back as centre green presenter New mascot costume arriving. CCTV fitted around stadium with alarms and 24 hour security Overall A great night as always, turn out was high largest I have seen for a supporters night, fans are excited and cant quite believe whats happening #monthetigers

But the revised criteria wouldn't have been known before the state championships?

What's happened with the track itself MD? , all that extra space at the back of turns one and two looks tempting!

Yes what's happening is incredible, feels like the days of the 261 Tigers... At that point the support of Radio Clyde really raised local awareness could be wrong but it felt like crowds dropped when they ended their involvement. I am not sure if commercial radio still has an impact. The website is packed with excellent content but in my opinion it's presented in a cluttered manner.

Hi DjEuan, The previous Tigers presence on Facebook was an embarrassment, the petty internal bickering and language would have put any casual observer off. So far the reinvigorated pages seem clear of that, which is great. Now to sort out that's dogs breakfast of a front page on the website. Its way too busy, tries to do too much on one page and has far too many fonts. Again our rival sports lead by example.

Hi MD, The Rocks average was taken from a newspaper article so it was no doubt embellished. I have been a regular at the Rocks this year and only twice would I say that 350 was a possibility, one on the snowy evening and the other was a Friday night game in the main hall which had a small crowd for some reason. I would say the true average falls between 800-1000. Which given the Rocks pricing, facilities and show indicates the task ahead for the Tigers!

I think a 1000 would be a great achievement given how far the sport has fallen from the collective consciousness. The use of social media has improved dramatically in the last month. A quick look at our 'likes' shows how much catching up to do there is when compared to others. Warriors 25k (average atten 5229) Clan 11k (average atten 3000) Rocks 9825 (average atten 1500) Tigers 1578 (average atten 550?) Facebook is a great way of keeping current fans engaged but twitter imo is a better way of spreading the word. Need to create a buzz to get fans through the door then create a slick entertaining event to keep them coming back. Mingin toilets, crackly speakers and hour long delays for an ambulance appear to be off the agenda in the brave new world of the Tigers.

    British GP 2013

Track was poor compared to the last few years at Cardiff. Didn't enjoy the meeting as much as usual partly because of the racing and partly because of Tai's accident. All things considered, BSI dodged a major bullet.....this year, may suffer from the ricochet next.
  12. Was probably the most processional meeting so far, but the ref kept it moving along so wasn't too bad. Screenie had two fantastic passes and Joey R was all set for a cracker of a pass when the track caught him out and he took a purler. Redcar offered nothing from an overtaking perspective. Still an enjoyable afternoon given the local weather conditions.

    Gp In Auckland 2012

Enjoyed that, some cracking heats and what a crowd, local promotion must of worked their socks off to get that crowd, in (nowadays) a speedway back water. A wee change to hear clapping and cheering rather than the airhorn.

    Monster Energy Sponsorship

Great news a fast rising global brand, who are a perfect fit for our extreme sport. Hopefully their involvement will open a few commercial doors that were previously closed. Crikey is Speedway cool after all?

    Leszno Gp 28th April 2012

Gutted that there are no meetings after the GP, has put the kibosh on me going this year. I have been to Leszno a couple of times now and I have gotten greedy for two meetings during my Polish speedway weekend.
