    Oxford v Poole 21/6/23 Championship.

Sam Masters finished second in Heat 10 off gate 4. At least it's possible to race at Oxford - it's not all over by the second bend as it is at Wimborne Road. Terrific racing last night - a number of races where positions were still changing on the final lap. I realise that may have given you a nosebleed, since you're not used to seeing it Great performance by Cheetahs last night - Poole's top end strength didn't do the job and the Oxford heat-leaders dominated, while another fantastic performance by Henry Atkins at reserve.
  2. Henry Atkins has had the last laugh, though. He wasn't treated in a professional manner at Plymouth, but is now flourishing elsewhere.
  3. Is it just me, or is there a mistake in the referee's official scorechart on Saturday? It's here: Berwick 17.06.23 Scorecard / BERWICK (Championship) / Downloads - Speedway Control Bureau (scbgb.co.uk) I had Scott Nicholls down as third in Heat 15 - I didn't even think it was close as to which Oxford rider was third in Heat 15. Does anyone else agree?

    Scunthorpe v Plymouth

FRIDAY TEAM UPDATE: Unfortunately, Michael Palm Toft is not fit to race tonight, after picking up an ankle injury at King’s Lynn last night. Our super Dane is having his ankle checked out today, while we will use rider replacement for Tofty tonight.
  5. He is, but he is quite fun at the same time. Although he seemed to complain and not like it when Henry Atkins and Jody Scott both did a lap of honour after Chargers got "just a 4-2" in Heat 10. A 4-2 that made all the difference come the end of Heat 15!
  6. Fantastic meeting on Saturday - and a brilliant advert for National League speedway. Hope the stream was watched far and wide! I was there in person and happy to see Chargers prevail - especially after a bit of "sportsmanship" from Greg Blair in the final race to stay down and get the re-run. Had an interesting couple of discussions with the Berwick fans after that one! I also wonder if Mr Barrie needs both an eye test and a hearing aid. I was sat in the main stand, opposite the start, cheering on the boys (very loudly after Heat 15!) and yet he kept on going on about there only being two Oxford fans in the stadium. Yup, they were there Dick... spoke to them myself... and so was I
  7. Ah, so you've now changed from a "flyer" to "clearly moved". Kerr didn't get a "flyer" because he was only third in the first bend, whether he moved or not. The ref quite often will let it go if the rider who moved didn't get an advantage. I assume you weren't too bothered about it being stopped until Kerr somehow squeezed between Lawson and the back straight fence to move from 3rd to 1st. And, of course, Lawson definitely didn't move last night, did he? Or Worrall? It's clear you only see the movement that you want to see
  8. Kerr only gated third in Heat 9, so couldn't have been much of a flier
  9. Poole beaten for the first time since 2006. Just like buses, two will come along at the same time, and Cheetahs also to win 46-44 tomorrow.

    Leicester v Kent - Saturday 27 May

Not a bad meeting, but way too much dust!
  11. Yes, because there's nothing like giving the fans extra like going back to an antiquated heat formula and taking two races away from them! Heat 15 was a decent race last night, because it was a competitive race. Heat 13 was not, because of the strange withdrawal of Richie Worrall. Sam Masters and Scott Nicholls romped home easily in that one.
  12. It still doesn't make a lot of sense, though, does it? If he was pulled out of Heat 13 with a shoulder injury, why then place him in Heat 14 as a tactical sub? The Plymouth tactics last night were 'interesting' to say the least!
  13. I thought it was a good race between Barker and Atkins, with Atkins almost getting past Barker a couple of times (which he had already done previously in Heat 14). Don't you agree, or weren't you in attendance last night and merely commentating from afar? Dunno why Worrall wasn't in Heat 13, though!

    Oxford Chargers 2023

Yeah, I've got a strong feeling that JJ won have done the business in either Heat 13 or 15, but we'll never know. Terrific meeting between two committed sides, with plenty of incident, while the questionable refereeing calls just about balanced out, although the harshest one was to excluded Sam Woods as he was pushing around for a point in Heat 8 - slightly perplexed by that one, since a winning time was given, suggesting the race was never stopped! Oxford Chargers want to win, but it's not the be-all and end-all. It's good enough to have a talented and strong side that provide entertainment and are progressing to become the Cheetahs of the future, which has already started this season, with three Chargers in the Cheetahs. I thought Jody Scott was brilliant yesterday - he didn't allow Alfie Bowtell a way through in Heat 10 to join Henry for a 5-1 that created yet another flip in the fortunes of the meeting. That was a stunning ride from Jody, and then he made no mistakes to win Heat 14 as well. Jody is another Cheetah of the future. Sorry I didn't manage to say hello during the meeting yesterday, Mimmo, hope you're doing well.

    Oxford Cheetahs 2023

And you really need a grow a sense of humour.

    Oxford Cheetahs 2023

You need to look at Wednesday, when Luke rode in wet conditions at Oxford (I know you're not used to those at Glasgow, where you call off the meeting if there's one little white cloud in the sky somewhere in the forecast - well you do, when the Danes are missing in any case), wasn't excluded once, and the only time he came down was when another rider brought him down on the first bend. The lad is learning all the time - yeah, he made a mistake last night. Mind you, so did Sam Hagon, but was got away with somehow bouncing off the fence, during a breath-taking battle with Henry Atkins.
  17. "Jumped in again"? I haven't commented on this thread before today since Sunday. I'm amazed you've kept it going since then and that you still seem to have a problem that I expressed an opinion that you didn't agree with. Tough!
  18. Blimey, you still harping on about this? You really don't like people having an opinion that isn't the same of your own, do you? Well, though luck, because it's a forum and that's what it's for. Incidentally, Oxford showed how you do it last night. Bit of rain in the forecast, but not enough to call it off. When a heavy shower did arrive at 6.45pm, the track staff worked hard, and it resulted in a very entertaining meeting and everyone went home happy. No-one was ever against early rain-offs on this thread. Just against early call-offs, when there isn't enough rain in the forecast to justify it. But carry on with your head in the sand, while wondering why there's less and less people stood around you at Ashfield each week.
  19. I'm over it. You're not over your denial, though
  20. Danes not advertised as missing, as otherwise people might put two and two together regarding the call-off on a fine evening...
  21. No torment at all. Last time I checked this was a speedway forum and, therefore, we comment on here about speedway topics. If my comments are causing you torment, I suggest you leave the forum.
  22. I didn't go to Scunny yesterday to prove a point to anyone. I went because I go whenever there isn't a fixture clash with Oxford. I was also there a fortnight ago and will go around 2/3 times in June. When I looked at the forecast, it had around a 90% chance of taking place, but then that forecast changed at around 5,30pm, at which point the rain clearing by 6pm was replaced by a thunderstorm, which could hit Scunny or could pass it by. It hit. That's part and parcel of following the sport. Scunthorpe v Oxford was called off at 8.30am in April, because the forecast was obviously hopeless, and otherwise it's a waste of everyone's time. You only had to look at the forecast. It wasn't showers that day, it was a big band of rain working its way up the country. On the other hand, the Glasgow v Oxford call off surprised me, because when I checked the forecast on Thursday evening, it looked fine. Yesterday, after the call off, checked it again and it still looked fine. There's no point in an early call off when the fixture so obviously could have taken place. Unfortunately, as I said before, and I wish it didn't, but events like yesterday badly hurt Glasgow Speedway. People stop trusting them. I've already knocked Glasgow v Scunny on the head, the day before Workington v Oxford, any other fans will make similar decisions on future meetings at Glasgow. I would also imagine local Glasgow fans, who witnessed a nice evening last night, were left a little miffed. It's damaging and it's not good.
  23. Nah, prefer to leave you sweating on it.
  24. Look back at the rest of the thread and it should become fairly obvious.
  25. Based on what people local to the area have told me.
