  1. They do. With Scunny if it's called going to be called off, it depends slightly where the away fans/riders are coming from. For instance, for Sheffield, Rob Godfrey knew he didn't need to make a decision by around 2.30pm-3pm, whereas if it is Glasgow, Edinburgh or Plymouth, it will be first thing. But if anyone checks before setting off, they will find the answer before they leave. With Newcastle yesterday, it was off a good 2/3 hours before anyone needs to leave Newcastle to get to Scunny.
  2. This forum is amazing at times. Scunny make the right decision in plenty of time to prevent people making a wasted journey, publicise it well... and yet people still find something to complain about. The meeting was called off just before lunchtime - at around 11.45am. By noon, the news of the call off was on social media, the club website and the BSPL website. Scunthorpe make early decisions to avoid having to make late decisions and waste everyone's time. And it works. I live over three hours away and yet I hardly ever end up at Scunthorpe for a rained off meeting. You can trust Scunny, because by lunchtime, they'll decide they are going ahead and they then try their absolute hardest to go ahead and complete the meeting - Scunny v Poole was an example of this.
  3. Indeed. Both social media and the club website updated at midday, well before anyone needed to set off.
  4. Yeah, just a misunderstanding. Now told Rob G where the incorrect information stemmed from, so he can also make sure there's no further misunderstanding tomorrow.

Leicester vs Oxford 7 May 2022

No it wasn't! The riders were concerned about what they were faced with if they were behind. Scott Nicholls isn't a moaner. When he calls out the track, I think there's a good reason to listen to him. It's good that Leicester have called in Andy Meredith, but they should have done that years ago.

Leicester vs Oxford 7 May 2022

Awful meeting. The blade used during the week had cut into the clay base. It wasn't a problem for those out front, but those behind were bombarded with huge lumps of clay, hence the riders being so strung out. More tractors than bikes, with a huge gap after Heat 4.

    Oxford v Poole 20/4/22

Home track advantage? We're only ridden at home once. Looking forward to hopefully seeing Oxford winning, despite our complete lack home track advantage. See you tonight mate!
  8. That's a shame. With Tai there, I think they would have got maybe over 1000 people to stream it and it could have brought over 10 grand into the kitty. But I wasn't going to do a four-hour drive on a Monday night.
  9. Is this meeting being streamed?

Andrew Edwards Book & Peter Collins

To be fair to the 1984 Aces, they only dropped nine league points (three defeats and three draws) - but the problem was Ipswich only dropped eight! Belle Vue's away form was pretty exceptional - 9 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats in the BL. Plus a 100% home record. Most seasons that would have seen them walk the league. A season of two incredible sides!

    Oxford Cheetahs 2022

It's 2021. Speedway Forums are largely redundant. Plenty of interest on social media.

    Top riders during each decade

No Jan O Pedersen during the 1980s or 1990s? World Champion in 1991, World No 2 in 1986 and World 3 in 1988. Rode in the World Pairs Final twice... and won it twice! Rode in the World Team Cup Final four times... and won it four times! Throw in a BLRC (1988) and various honours with Cradley Heath and surely he should be in there for both decades.

    Who is number six?

No, he wasn't a number, he was a free man.

    Who is number six?

Well, you'd gone as far back as a rider who rode in UK Speedway in 1952 (Briggo), so I just went back a tiny bit earlier But, yeah, going pre-war does open up a different kettle of fish, so maybe we should restrict it to post-war. I rescind Bluey Wilkinson and add Anders Michanek

    Who is number six?

    1. No, they all deserve to be there. 2. Tricky question. I think I'd go for Bruce Penhall, although IMO the other outstanding candidates (in chronological order) are Bluey Wilkinson, Vic Duggan, Jack Young, Ronnie Moore, Peter Craven, Ole Olsen, Anders Michanek, Erik Gundersen, Greg Hancock and Jason Crump. As for Tai Woffinden and Bartosz Zmarzlik, I'll decide where they fit once they retire.

  25. Watching the stream tonight. Hoping Poole stream the second leg as well - with such a forward thinking promotion, I'll sure they will - money to be made from streaming the final.
