    Coventry V Poole 1/6/15

To of avoided a fine the Coventry riders just needed to appear at the start & let the Pirates pair get away & follow on without actually trying. Not so easy as a racer tho. I remember Hans charging around Poole once trying to get a meeting on with a wet track, can't remember who it was against when others wanted it off.

    Coventry V Poole 1/6/15

Something to watching tomorrow. Hope it is shown in full only so I can see how bad it was. Hope Gemini never forced Lucy & Molly to go and watch this. Might see them on the gogglebox

    Sky Sports Speedway Intro Noise

[quote name="The White Knight" post="2615975" SAY!!! Who was that masked man? It could be Matt Fords fault, but I'll blame Ansell, Hodder & Stewksbury!
  4. That's harsh Gemini. I thought you were my friend on Facebook!

    Sky Sports Speedway Intro Noise

At Poole years ago we used to have Fanfare for the common man by Emerson, Lake & Palmer at the teams made their way to the parade (At least it's better that most of the **** on BGT). That's a great tune unless I'm wrong. On the downside we had to endure Congratulations by Cliff Richard :-( . For some strange reason we had the William Tell Overture as the riders came under starters orders for every heat.

    Poole V Wolves 6th May 2015

I'm not knocking PK here but he was in a non heat leader position and had easier races, just like Noddy last night.

    Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

Just been watching the GP. What a joke, ok I know that a green light start is within the rules of the sport but if you are going to re-run one race because of a tapes malfunction after 4 completed laps why not do it after Heat 2? I could understand why Nicki P was Peed off when he had to race his heat again so why not let heat 2 be restaged again? A top product this is not.
  8. Silly question here but what's happened to Robbo? Hope he's back on track soon.
  9. Courtesy of the Poole Pirates website POLISH DUO COMPLETE PIRATES11th March 2015 With the Press Day launch of their 2015 season just 7 days away, the Poole ReadyPower Pirates have now finally been able to confirm their full starting line-up. Poole boss Matt Ford has announced that Maciej Janowski will be returning for the Pirates as they seek to win the Elite league for the third successive campaign, and Ford has immediately installed Janowski, nicknamed "Magic", as the captain for 2015. Janowski undertook that role when Darcy Ward was suspended from racing last season and Ford believes that it was "a natural choice for Magic to resume as captain" "He did a great job for us at the business end of the season and took to the captain's job really well. We agreed terms way back last season, in fact he was the first rider I spoke to. I am delighted to have him riding for us and I wanted him to lead the team again" Janowski will be joined at Poole in 2015 by his former Tarnow team-mate Kacper Gomolski who returns to British Speedway after having ridden for Swindon in 2013 and previously Peterborough (2011). He becomes the second member of his dynasty to gain a Poole contract as his elder brother Adrian made fleeting appearances for the Pirates back in 2007. Ford added "Each year there is a signing or two that will raise a few eyebrows and may seem to many to be a surprise, and whilst I am aware the internet has been rife with speculation that Kacper was joining us, I think that he may be the one rider that will capture the imagination of many. "This is a vastly improved rider from the one that rode for Swindon back in 2013. He has developed into a highly talented rider over the past 18 months and his world U21 results last season is testimony to that. He finished runners-up to Piotr Pawlicki and was ahead of Vaclav Milik in that championship and we all saw how good Vaclav was for us last season. "When riders like Chris (Holder), Davey (Watt) and Magic are all raving about him then that's enough to convince me. Add in the fact that Kacper joins us on a bargain 3.94 then he could well be the key to a successful season as it is all about riders who can increase their average and there is no doubt in my mind that he can certainly achieve that. "He might find the going a bit tough on some of the away tracks to start with but I believe he will certainly settle quickly in at Wimborne Road and will be a crowd pleaser." So with the final two pieces of the jigsaw now in place the 2015 Poole ReadyPower Pirates will line-up with 3 Australians, 2 Poles and 2 British riders Chris Holder, Maciej Janowski, Dave Watt, Dakota North, Kacper Gomolski, Kyle Newman & Paul Starke.
  10. The only difference as I see it is that Kings Lynn would of rode at Poole first as neither teams wanted to face either Coventry or Swindon in the Semi Finals as both were depleted by injuries. Now if KL had really wanted a harder Semi would not of qualified for the Final anyway. OK neither would of Poole in that case.

    Lakeside 2015

You might struggle at the start of the season but in theory AJ's ave might come down to enable you to strengthen the team later on. Although not a Hammers fan glad to see AJ back

    Best Gater And Best Racer?

Surprised that nobody has mentioned Per Jonson as best gater? for team riding would say Sudden Sam times that I saw him helping Jan Steachman at Woves Best Racer go with either Mark Loram, Darcy Ward or Tomasz Gollob if he missed the gate at Wroclaw in a GP Final https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-S9RyFEw9_E
  15. My top no1's would be Gordon Kennett Chris Louis Andrew Silver Paul Dugard Les Collins Jens Rasmussen Andy Galvin I would put Leigh Adams in this group but can't remember if he was our No1. I am not going to knock Kevin Smart but he was probably our worst No1 but had an awful crash in 2nd meeting & was never the same rider. I saw Stoney ride at Exeter prior to a GP weekend & was woeful looked like he wasn't trying but looked real impressive in the 2 fixtures I saw at Worky on the night Exeter won the title. I started watching 2nd Division speedway when Poole went NL in 1985

    Kings Lynn 2015

might sound like a silly question but what happened to your other fast track reserve?
  17. As regarding to train drivers blowing there horns, except for emergency it is not permitted from 23:00 I believe.

    Lakeside 2015

just saying that he is signing for Glasgow means nothing. If they want him as an asset he could still be loaned to Lakeside and not be a double up rider.
  19. To me you lost the sound of the bikes. When I visited Wimbledon I would share the atmosphere with the pit bend looneys during the mid/late 80's. Loved all the noise from them. I saw a couple of meetings up at Shawfield one behind the glass & one on the terraces & liked it outside better but was a warmer time of the year.

More On The Decline Of British Speedway

It might also have something to do with the fact that there was a very good chance of it raining and the meeting either being abandoned or even postponed
  21. although harsh Double up riders should only be British IMO prefrebly young
  22. It does state the best facilities and as they were brand new you have to admit they were pretty good. I preferred the old Waterdon Road stadium for the viewing but was extremely run down. When I visited it was a freezing cold day and I was every so glad of the glass stadium, but sadly the speedway to me looses something by missing the sound of the bikes behind the glass.
  23. Have to agree with the above about Wimbledon. The other track would be London Stadium in Hackney.
  24. You seem so sure that Mr Mole has no interest in the long term future. To be fair I think his plan is to get it up & running again for the next owner to keep it running and organise a long term plan. You have to bare in mind that the team this year was awful & no wonder the fans stayed away. As so many people said on so many other threads when you have little entertainment on track you'll spend you hard earnt elsewhere, just look at Oxford a few years ago. Good luck Brummie fans.
  25. You are sort of stuck between a rock & a hard place. You can't be certain that the replacement will be any better. With Hans I can't believe that he has been across the Atlantic 3 times since Friday evening might explain a little of the tiredness
