    Brummies 2024...

What are Brent Werner and Chris Kerr doing these days? Interesting how the Brummies get an American team manager whilst Laurence Rogers is spending his spare time helping the American Dream Team plan for the FIM Speedway of Nations.

    Brummies 2024...

I wonder if the Alan Graham Memorial Trophy 2024 will be a 3-Team-Tournament with nominal Cradley and Wolves teams in it? Or a 4TT with a notional Coventry team included?

Will Graham Drury be tempted out of retirement?

    Brummies 2024...

Announcements were promised for the Christmas Party on Saturday, so on my wish list would be: 1. A top quality Team Manager (Critical) 2. A top quality track curator (Vital) 3. A top quality witch doctor that can fix some decent weather for Monday nights. We'll let it rain as much as it likes Tue-Sat next year, but in exchange, Sundays & Mondays have to be nice.

    Brummies 2024...

Shamek is on his way down. Potty is OK But in any case, there are better alternatives. Kubera, Drabik or Fajfer would do a far better job than the Pawlicki bros IMHO. Birmingham constantly using tactical guest riders for an effectively non-existent rider??? The Brummies? Really? What kind of team manager could possibly devise such a cunning plan, then? I'd have thought that the importance of having and sticking with 7 actual Brummies riders is now more important than ever. The more the management prat around with guests and R/R the less and less the chances of new fans that are attracted through the gates are likely to stick with the sport.

    Brummies 2024...

As has been said, what the Brummies don't need is a "has been". Shamek Pawlicki fits that description down to a tee. Out of interest, What average would Dominik Kubera come in on? 24 years old, 7th in the Polish averages, rides in Sweden, so not unfamiliar with commuting. Just saying... If we're playing fantasy speedway predictions, he'd be a better bet than Dudek or either of the Pawlicki brothers. If there are to be 3 x Polish riders in the team, then to get solid performances, without requiring superstar salaries, I'd go for Dominik Kubera, Maksim Drabik and Oskar Fajfer. Potty Pawlicki is an option but he strikes me as being a "mini-Pedersen" and I don't know how long he'd be able to stay out of trouble. And trouble is one thing we don't need.

    Brummies 2024...

I was wondering where on earth Wiktor Lamparts name entered the equation. Did someone just pluck that name out of thin air or was there method to this? I can think of several names from the Polish League who I'd rather sign than Lampart. I don't think that just naming them and raising peoples hopes / driving them to despair, is really a constructive thing to do though, because then, when they are not signed, those in charge get the blame for not signing someone who was only ever on a fans radar and never on theirs.

So, will you be sticking to your word then? You never know, admission might be £1 cheaper at Leicester next year?

    Brummies 2024...

Two big variables in that statement. Firstly, the word "If" and secondly number "1" Say Zagar was intended to be a #2 or #3? There's another thread where someone has posted a fantasy Brummies team that has the Pawlicki brothers in the Brummies team, and Piotr would certainly be above Zagar in those rankings. Another fantasy team lists Artem Laguta as the Brummies #1. I won't worry about Zagar being in the team until I see the whole team and what his part is in it. Until then, chill!

If the MainSpeedwayManFan is truly in charge of team acquisition them don't rule out an attempt to coax James Shanes out of retirement to become our "rising star"

    Brummies 2024...

I guess that Paweł Przedpełski would be out of the question then? I'd hate to think how that poor guy's name would get mangled up out of all recognition.

That's 2 full sized buses or coaches per 100 fans, and some say give them free admission too. Have you ever asked for a quote for coach and/or bus hire? That said, let's see what Parrys Coaches are made of and can offer And going back to the point about how the home fans would feel about it, well pretty aggrieved, I would suggest, if they are being asked to pay for the same buses to go to away meetings.

    Brummies 2024...

You forget the age demographic. It's not like those 200-300 are youngsters whose fickle fancies can be tempted back at the drop of a hat. Brummies fans were "older generation" when speedway was reintroduced in 2007, and now they are 16-17 years older still. Getting older people back (those who are still with us) is a much harder thing to do. And attracting a new young crowd has been something that not only the Brummies but the sport in general has failed spectacularly to do.

Look at the race suit of the team he'll be riding for next year in Poland.

If it's "the Shed" then buy shares in Tipp-Ex, quickly, as that name will be mis-spelt SO many times

    Brummies 2024...

Ahh, just because Piotr Protasiewicz appeared in the Jason Lyons farewell meeting doesn't mean that he'll be returning to ride for the Brummies next year. He retired a year or two ago. UNLESS you're expecting him to do "a Jason Crump" and shoe horn himself back into a race suit and give it another go, are you? Or is it some other Mickey Mouse rider that you're referring to?

    Brummies 2024...

The point is that everybody is just playing a guessing game at the moment. We're told that the first rider announcements will be made at the Supporters Club Xmas Party on 8th December. Let's wait and see what gets announced before either jumping for joy or jumping off a cliff. I just hope that someone with top division experience is brought in to help with team building, because if the Brummies were disappointed at how they failed to land Vadim Tarasenko, then they ain't seen nothing yet. That was just a curveball. In the Premiership the teams chuck fastballs and someone whose peak of team building experience was the 2008 "American Dream Team" is no match for the top flight.

    Brummies 2024...

It's like turning the clock back 12 months...when we were promised a team that would make it into the play-off's. Agree though, a top-flight team manager is needed. SpeedwayMainManFan can the concentrate on the junior commitments that ALL (apparently) teams have to contribute towards, which is what he enjoys doing anyway.

    Brummies 2024...

You've just noticed? And they complain about paying for programmes, and they complain about paying more than £10 admission, and they complain about the cost of catering....notice a trend? If speedway fans can't complain about the cost of something, it ain't worth having.

The official line will be that you can't, however I see nothing to stop you. There are parking restrictions which are enforced up to 8pm, which restrict parking to 4 hours up to that time. So basically, unless you park up BEFORE 4pm, your 4-hour tenure will take you into the unrestricted time. If you park there, I'm sure that KFC will appreciate your custom on the way out, as they will still be open when you are on your way home.

    Brummies

CVS is hoping for a Wolves return in 2025, so I suspect that pinning hopes on "Rent a Crowd" is more a BSF solution of convenience, rather than any sort of long-term planning by the Brummies promotion. It's be interesting to know for how many years the use of the stadium has been secured, and when the search for another venue in Birmingham will begin, per what Tolley said in his interview a few weeks ago.

    Brummies

So, when are the BSF Admins going to lift & shift the Brummies thread into the right forum?
  24. uk_martin

    Brummies

I dare say that if past years are anything to go by, the news will filter out "on the drip", to, er, "maximise the publicity value". The first announcement will have to be the securing of the stadium and the intention to run in 2024, which no doubt will follow the BSPZzz AGM in the sunshine of Tenerife. After that, let the drip-feed process begin.

    Promoters Conference

No chance of anybody quietly slipping back to Edinburgh on a train without paying their fare then???
