Workington v Redcar 20/04/24 3pm BSN
Yearbyred replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well in this case Jonas had already signed for his Polish club and only signed for Redcar after TJ said he wouldn’t be fit to ride. Probably makes the Bears stronger in this case, hopefully Connor can score some points after a difficult start for the Bears. -

Redcar riding order change - Knudsen moved to 2, Edwards to 4. -

On paper this is a tougher meeting than last week for the Bears. 3 ex Bears in the Scorpions line up, plus Howarth and Lambert who both score well at Redcar. Need a much better performance from the Bears or it will be another home loss I fear. -

Replacing King with Riss doesn’t solve Redcars problems of not having a third rider currently being able to be a consistent heat leader. Losing TJ so late gave the promotion limited options with who they could replace him with. It’s also very early days, I’m sure of riders aren’t performing as the season progresses, changes will happen. -

First of all well done to the Comets on a fully deserved win after a really poor start. Rode like a team thy wanted to show those who had written them off that they were wrong. Really impressed with the new riders, Zischke in particular and Liebmann showed she deserved to be riding at this level. Hope she’s ok after her fall. For the Bears it was a worrying performance , both Wright and King were not at their very best and the rest of the team look inconsistent. Yes it’s very early in the season but think we could be in for a tough year even at home. -

Don’t think Scunthorpe is one of his better tracks, I can’t remember him having a good meeting there as a Redcar rider. -

Agree, Bears favourites , no idea on the score but think it could be close. Looking forward to seeing the new Comets riders, might be a new track for a few of them but Celina has ridden here before and Zischke and Vuolas will soon get dialled in as most away riders always do. For the Bears a first home team meeting, need Bailey and Mulford to improve from their performance at Scunthorpe, where they were both well off the pace. -
Condolences to his family and friends. One of the big names from my earliest days of watching speedway, can’t think of him without hearing Dave Lanning saying “Tiger Louis” in my head. RIP.

5.4.2024 - BSN Series - Scunny v Redcar
Yearbyred replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Comfortable win for Scunthorpe, who will take some beating at home when they all click. Allen and Ablett particularly impressive. Only Wright and Edwards (and to a lesser extent Trigger) were on the pace for Redcar and the 3-4 pairing looks very vulnerable (as suspected). But it’s early days and hopefully they improve. Agree about Schlein thought he was very good but Roynon’s questions were often longer than the replies! -

That soft spot has caught a few riders out, lucky there hasn’t been a more serious accident. -
Me too……..was told the track was fine.

Looks a bit damp and soft on the preview. Hope it rides ok.

Championship Predictions 2024
Yearbyred replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think Berwick have a decent team this year, would be surprised if they weren’t closer to the top than bottom. Poole, Scunthorpe and Glasgow top teams for me. -
Seeing as though other teams are doing it, thought I'd start one for Redcar. Given that the points limit is expected to be reduced (think Redcar were in favour of it this year) then the team will look a lot different next year I think. Wright (if fit) and Edwards are the only riders I think we can say will definitely be back from this years team. Think Riss needs a change of scenery and not sure we see King or Hume back (I would have King, not sure on Hume). Would have liked to see Bailey but suspect the Worky news means he will be there. Mulford could return. Thoughts?

First match of the season for Redcar. First and last match of the season for Newcastle. Strong looking Newcastle line up, think it’s over the points limit but we will let them off (this time) which should be a tough test for the Bears. Bears have as good a top 2 as any in the league but will need the other 5 to up their game this year to be one of the top teams. All of them are capable of winning races but whether they can do it consistently is the question. The Bailey/Knudsen partnership looks to be critical to me. Hopefully see a decent crowd and a few Newcastle supporters making the trip. Forecast looks ok for tomorrow.

Redcar v Newcastle Select 29/03/24

Think that’s fair. The bottom 5 all have plenty of potential and for the Bears to be near the top they all need to up their averages. -
Always enjoy the streams from Scunthorpe. Racing is generally always good and what the commentary lacks in slickness it’s more than made up for with enthusiasm.

16 rider individual, semi final and a final so 22 heats in total. Really good line up. Full details on BSN -
I believe 8 cans leads to a rolling average.

Is this an actual 4.1 or an assessed 4.1?

TJ needs an operation, no guarantee he rides this year at all according to Jamie last night.

The fact Redcar ride on a Friday was a factor , due to his Polish commitments on a Sunday.
