  1. Nope, can’t find a rule about an unsatisfactory start. The regulations show : “15.3. A Starting Offence is considered to have been committed in the following circumstances: Gate Preparation after the expiry of the 2-minute allowance. When a rider’s motorcycle or any part of their body or equipment touches or breaks the starting tapes whilst the green starting light is on or prevents the raising of the start gate. A second offence, following an official warning during the meeting for incorrectly preparing the start gate area, disobeying the start marshal and moving during the illumination of the green light before the tapes are released shall result in disqualification (ie; second warning)” Interestingly the “moving during the illumination of the green light” does not feature in 15.3 as a specific starting offence but is included as a second offence. The actual regulation is contained in : “15.2.9 When the Green Start Light is illuminated, no movement of the motorcycle is permitted, nor any additional time allowance or outside assistance can be given.” There is clearly a case for the rules to be reviewed and rewritten in a clear and unambiguous manner.
  2. Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s not that ‘The 1st bend rule’ isn’t that clear, it just doesn’t exist does it ? As far as I can see, the rules relating to heat stoppages are all in regulations 15.5 and subsections: 15.5 The Referee, alone, may stop a heat, following an incident or accident, by showing the "stop" Signal if in their opinion it would be dangerous to allow the heat to continue. Alternatively, the Referee disqualify a rider, where the offence committed may include allowing both wheels of the motorcycle to cross the inner edge of the track unless such action was for another Rider’s safety, or for receiving outside assistance, including communication to/from the Pits, 3rd party physical contact with the motorcycle or rider, regardless of whether it assists the rider or not, or is lapped, in which case the disqualified rider must withdraw immediately from the course, yet allow the heat to continue 15.5.1 Where a heat is stopped, the Referee shall disqualify the rider, who in their opinion is the primary cause of the stoppage, has indulged in foul, unfair, dangerous or reckless conduct that’s jeopardised the fair chance of an opponent. In certain circumstances, that may include disqualification from the rest of the Meeting, with no facility allowed in a team meeting. 15.5.2 Where a Referee stops a heat, and the leading Rider has completed at least 2 laps, then they have the sole discretion to either order a re-run or award the heat based upon the positions when it was caused to be stopped; Riders, other than the one disqualified being advanced one place. 15.5.3 A rider, unable to cross the finishing line, when the leading Rider has done so or the heat has been awarded, as a result of foul, unfair or dangerous riding on the part of another Rider shall be deemed to have finished in the position he held immediately prior to the foul, unfair or dangerous riding, as also shall a rider who has deliberately laid down his motorcycle, or has left the course in the interests of safety; There is no reference to bend 1, therefore using the logic that there is some unwritten discretion for the referee to put all 4 riders back (for a bend 1 incident) who’s to say that the discretion shouldn’t apply to the rest of the race ? Rosco was wrong to say that there is a rule that allows a referee to put all 4 riders back, there is no such rule to allow this at any time.
  3. I don't know if it's the same rule that stopped Redcar signing Wallinger because I can't find any statement on the official Redcar website to say that they were trying to sign Wallinger and were prevented from doing so. If that were the case then perhaps the BSPA (or Redcar) could have publicised the matter, and the rule, which would prevent other clubs from wasting time and effort. Or would that be to sensible ?
  4. Purely academic to the outcome of the meeting, but what’s the penalty for riding across the centre green ? “5.4.4 No Motorcycle may be ridden on the Infield nor in the Pits (except the designated area)” After being informed that he was excluded from Heat 15 for a second tapes offence, Riss rode across the centre green / infield before returning to the track on the backstraight and lining up off a 15 metre handicap. Should he have been excluded from the race ?
  5. Errrr, apparently they aren’t clear. There is a ‘new rule’, not in the rule book, that has been used to prevent Eastbourne from using / signing Danyon Hume. I believe Eastbourne have appealed but, a week later, haven’t heard from the BSPA regarding this. So, not so clear after all is it ?

    Eastbourne 2019

https://www.eastbourne-speedway.com/wood-hit-with-28-day-ban/ “Terms have been agreed with Danyon Hume and his parent club (Ipswich) were happy to sanction the move. The change has been notified to the BSPA in a revised 1-7. However, at the time of writing the BSPA have not yet ratified the signing due to a new rule (not in the rule book) that prevents riders already signed to NDL clubs being prevented from signing for higher Division Clubs IF there are Fixture clashes that impact on the long held rule that Championship Fixtures take priority over NDL Fixtures. A Club spokesman said: “We have to respect that decision but have formally appealed to The Directors of the BSPA and await an adjudication”. “ A new rule not in the rule book, eh. Fancy that. Sometimes I wonder how speedway even maintains its low credibility. Professional, nah.

    EASTBOURNE V REDCAR

Agreed, some proper speedway from the top drawer. Some gutsy racing from both sides, special mention to Kyle Newman who rode harder and more aggressively than I’ve seen him all season. Thought it would be tougher but Redcar were hampered a bit by having only one rider finishing in 4 of the first 6 heats. Eastbourne need to sort out the reserve slot. I think Jason Edwards was a bit unlucky tonight and will definitely come good in time but only 3 points at home from the reserve rides is troubling. There will be no chance of making the final if that form continues.

NO, I think it’s Mike Bellerby and Trevor Geer. Please read my post again. Sorry to disappoint but there were no altercations on the centre green during the evening, - please stop posting incorrect information. Why do you have difficulty in accepting what The Doctor and I have to say, we were both there.

We don’t know. Any recriminations aren’t likely to be made public. Perhaps being stood down from duties for x meetings. We’ll see if he’s there on Saturday. Or perhaps, no punishment but some additional training and advice.

Give it a rest mate, we've been over this. The guy with the red flag walked away from the incident, at no stage did he use aggressive behaviour. If Cook and the others had waited for the presentation to end, I suspect none of this would have happened.

Bob, when you post as "authoritatively" as you like to, you need to make sure you have your facts right. There were no lunges on the Centre green, all the 'action' took place on the track, at bend 2 for the first incident involving Craig Cook and umpteen others, and at bend 1 when Vissing felt he needed to come over and remonstrate in an incident in which he was not even riding, one that involved Newman and Andersen. As for the Eastbourne personnel, well it wasn't too difficult to find on their website : Club Details: Management: Eastbourne Eagles Ltd (Companies House Registration No: 11727388) Company Director: Ian Jordan: Business / Commercial Director Promoters (authorised by BSPA) Mike Bellerby Trevor Geer Team Managers: Will Pottinger & Trevor Geer Head of Speedway Operations: Jon Cook Club Captain: Edward Kennett Announcer: Kevin Coombes Official Track Photographers: Mick Hinves & Tiffani Graveling Track Record: 54.8 seconds 18/4/2008 Jason Crump 23/8/2008 Chris Holder

I think we can agree that Jon Cook should be more professional and grown up. Martin Dugard, I believe, has no connection with the promotion, he is not an officer of Eastbourne Speedway either - he is the owner / director of Arlington Stadium Ltd, as is Jon Cook. I don’t know if it’s the promoter or stadium owner who would be ultimately responsible for track preparation - I guess it would be the promoter as many stadiums or rented / leased.

Doc - a good summary of what actually happened. It looks like Old Bob has the real ‘hate campaign’ - in particular towards Jon Cook, and by association Eastbourne. I think he was vindictive toward Lakeside when JC was there, so I think most of us can see where his issue lies. As I’ve said before, both Dugard and Cook were probably unwise and unprofessional in making their remarks and were making points directly aimed at Craig Cook. A better response would have been just to acknowledge the concerns and then let the riders prove the point on the track - which they did.

Or could the points scored by the rider in the period when the ban could have taken place be annulled ?
  15. Thanks for the good luck wishes Bob. You must be disappointed with that result.

Got to love the statements of those that weren't there! By all means have an opinion, but please don't try to dress it up as factual.

Read it again - “riding in to and around the 1st / 2nd turn towards...” “Towards” is the key word here. He didn’t get as far as his team mates, the Eastbourne Team and Mascots. There was NO “weaving in and out of track staff and kids” Just accept that you have got it wrong, no matter how you want to classify or interpret it.

Probably because the statement doesn’t mention that - Because it didn’t happen, which is why you haven’t seen any comments from those who were there.

From my post in the Eastbourne v Glasgow thread in the Championship section : “The presenter was doing the presentation. As I stated in my early post, the unprofessional comments (in my opinion) before the presentation took place, came from Martin Dugard (no official capacity with Eastbourne Speedway) and Jon Cook, Head of Speedway Operations with Eastbourne Speedway.” Funny how this ban topic is being posted and discussed in the Premiership section when all the events pertaining to it took place at a Championship event. (Yeah, I know the riders partake in both leagues).
  20. That it’s time related and not match or fixture related. As an aside, it’s good to see that the SCB can react within a reasonable timescale. Perhaps they could publish their findings into their “full investigation” of last years cancelled Eastbourne v Mildenhall match - 10 months and counting.
  21. Far too sensible for the SCB and speedway. As it stands I think Kennett misses 3 away matches for Eastbourne and 1 home for Ipswich, whilst Cook misses 1 home and 2 away for Glasgow, and 3 home matches for Kings Lynn.
  22. Check all you like mate, this thread like many others on this forum, can be hi jacked and have any discussions we like. At the moment it’s all fairly current events, no one has come on and started reminiscing about something that happened in the 1950s yet.
  23. No. The main entry and exit to the track is halfway / two-thirds of the way down the back straight and used, I’d say, for 90% of the time. There is another access point on bend 2, where the airbag can be pushed open. This is used for the bikes and riders when they are bought out for the presentation and introductions. It is not used as the “official” entry / exit but has been used for quick access to the track when riders are running late, and occasional exits. I am not aware of any official protocol regarding this. I get the impression that if a rider wants to exit via the bend 2 air bag gap and someone can operate it, then they can do.
  24. No he didn’t . I don’t think you were there. I was. I’m not defending Kennetts actions, but he moved swiftly over about 20 yards. (The introductions are done at the start if the back straight).
  25. Old Bob, you appear to have a strong grudge, or worse, against Eastbourne, or perhaps just Jon Cook. I can understand the latter more than the former. I would just like to correct you on a couple of points: 1. It wasn’t Grachan who referred to “1. Presenter and Jon Cook try and get the crowd going on the mic (nothing wrong in that)”, it was Gavan. However as he wasn’t in attendance, (nor you), he is wrong. The presenter was doing the presentation. As I stated in my early post, the unprofessional comments (in my opinion) before the presentation took place, came from Martin Dugard (no official capacity with Eastbourne Speedway) and Jon Cook, Head of Speedway Operations with Eastbourne Speedway. 2. There was a decent crowd, comparing Wroclaw with Arlington is cheap jibe. The Wroclaw GP was certainly the best I’ve seen this year, and I seriously doubt it will be bettered in the future rounds.
