    Nigel Pearson RIP

Such sad news , so sorry to hear this . Kindest thoughts to his Family and friends another life gone way too early. RIP Nigel, The Speedway family will miss you.
  2. That's not what I am saying at all, as well you know!
  3. What a ridiculous analagy. The premier league players, you talk about are not playing at Anfield every week ; unlike the GP riders who are plying their trade at Polish tracks every week. Tai has been there for more years than i can remember, for the same team. You cannot confuse football with Speedway they are so different. Your comment about fans also doesn't stand up : for example Aston Villa did much better behind closed doors than they did when they had passionate , capacity crowds. it may be better to think your answers through a little more.
  4. Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I am looking for a Cradley Heath Programme from 1969. I am not sure who the match was against but it had Jimmy Squibb on the cover. If someone can point me in the right direction to find this I would be very grateful Thanks
  5. looking forward to this one, hope to get there if traffic allows

Speedway On Tv And The Internet In 2024

Has the schedule been released yet? Many thanks
  7. hi all, what are the line ups for both teams tonight then? Thanks
  8. Sadly speedway has become unattractive, The facilities at Swindon are dreadful. The loos are a disgrace, the food dreadful, Stadium very tired. Track preparation all year has been iffy bends 1 and 2 like a dust storm.. The sun goes down right over bends 3 and four making viewing from start finish not great. I am not picking on Swindon, many of our beloved sport"s tracks are no better.Hence the sport attracts "enthusiasts "who are prepared to put up with that. After all a lot of us are happy to stand in a muddy field watching grass track. Then have a look at the riders available to watch, if you are an armchair fan, watching Grand Prix, then British speedway is a little like watching the third division in football. The big stars are not here. I have a mate who comes with us every year to Cardiff , wouldn't miss it, but league racing in the UK no longer appeals to him, his choice. Just think if you were not an enthusiastic speedway fan, would you dream of taking a date to the Speedway, Don't think she would be too impressed. Sorry but the society we live in these days has high expectations , and British Speedway just doesn't deliver on so many counts. This is such a shame for the Sport I have loved for so many years!, I hate to watch it die!

    Cardiff 2018 21st July

For us Cardiff was great, middle tier 4th bend. sat with some very nice people, a whole family new to speedway, who, thoroughly enjoyed it. Some great Polish families in front of us who were getting so excited. This really is a spectacle and if it was just given a little more thought it could become a real showcase for speedway. It is noticeable that the Polish attendees are a much younger group. The Brits are all that little bit older. We are watching top level speedway die in our country mainly for the lack of investment. the facilities at most tracks are little better than standing in a field watching Grass track, hence it is less appealing. There were a few things which could be improved on the Cardiff presentation and experience 1. Don't have a band without a decent PA, the house PA is just not good enough! Really felt sorry for those guys. No one was interested anyway, and insisted on blowing horns .SGP must be able to be a little more creative. 2. Get rid of the screeching female, before the event and during the track grades, she totally failed as no one could tell what language she was yelling The PA again is not suited to that type of screaming, she tried several times and failed. It was like a really awful wedding DJ, but all in a high pitched whine. It really was torture. 3. Maybe take footballs approach of a couple of refs, like the VAR team, decide what decisions it should be used for. 4. Make more of that fact that the riders are accessible, the rider introductions with them in the crowd was inspiring, this would never happen in other sporting events 5.GWR trains sort yourselves out - couldn't answer questions, had no clue what was going on, couldn't even say what time the next train was, despite the high viz jacket proclaiming " Happy to help" I am really not a grumpy old man , I just hate watching a sport i love die
