  1. Re. telling us the stadium was full (Andy Jaye said this not Pearson or Tatum - Scott Nicholls only agreed, somewhat embarrassingly). Jaye also reckoned Chris Holder was "helping" Tai Woffinden in the semi-finals. Total and clueless spring to mind.

Bottom teir straights were fairly full both sides and the first second corner straight section was pretty full as well, big gaps on the corners and the upper teir was the same.

10 to 15k would be my guess, the row I was in had 6 other supporters and choice of about 70 seats and we had several rows around us just the same, they concentrated the supporters shots on the straights which were mostly full.

The top teir wasn't used at all and screened off.

  2. THE finishing order in the 2013 Challenge was used down to Michael Jepsen Jensen with Smolinski, Harris and Batchelor having already gaining SGP places despite not finishing in the top three.

For the final three SGP meetings this year the FIM decided to nominate a rider ... Beck in Vojens, Nilsson in Stockholm and who knows who in Torun.

Re SGP reserves... once a rider has signed on (either before practice or before 4pm on race day) he can only be replaced by a reserve (as was the case with Woffinden in Gorzow). Hancock did not sign on but didn't officially withdraw until Saturday when it was deemed too late to find a rider other than one of the reserves,

    Thanks for that

All that is clear and understandable-but why don`t they replace the reserve who has been called up into the meeting ?? It just doesn`t make sense that they don`t.

Probably lack of time, as it's generally last minute.

  3. WHEN compiling the programme for Stockholm was told that as Ward was only suspended and could conceivably still ride if his ban was lifted, MJJ was in fact replacing the injured Iversen.

When the programme went to press we still weren't able to include Kim Nilsson as the replacement for Ward although we knew it would be him.

MJJ will continue to replace Iversen in Torun and a substitute for Ward, should one be required, will be named later and most likely be a Polish rider.

    Phil

It's clear substitute riders are done different from before when previously it was done with riders from the challenge.

Is their a list of substitute riders that's published or do they just pick someone from the home federation.

  4. SEEMS that my admittedly clumsy wording about Lakeside theoretically looking at joining forces with the Premier League following the closure of Eastbourne, geographically their nearest EL opponents, has given the wrong impression in certain quarters.

Lakeside promoter and BSPA co-chairman Jon Cook is adamant that Lakeside will remain in what will most likely be an eight team Elite League in 2015 and that his club has no aspirations about entering the PL.

Happy to put the record straight and that Jon and his colleagues know they face some difficult decisions in the next few weeks to stabilise the EL which is, frankly, suffering from a shortage of available riders. But that is a problem not confined to the UK.

The EL and PL racing on different weekly race nights would solve most doubling up issues overnight, allowing any rider to double up taking into account league points limits wouldn't hurt either.

I also don't see the problem with squads, judging by the amount of guests some teams have used in recent weeks what's the difference, it would just be using the same guests on a regular basis.

  5. Cant do countback with similar scores and riders winning each other in rotation. It's a runoff or ballot.

Current rulebook says three substitutes. MJJ was and is 3rd on subs list for 2014. Batch and another (Harris?) were before him but were taken in to the series after Gollob and Emil withdrew.

That explains why I thought MJJ was the only substitute but the FIM regs say

    077.3.4 Nominated Substitute riders

In case of the absence of one or more riders, the first available Nominated Substitute rider or riders, according to their placing in the official Grand Prix “Nominated Substitute Riders list”, will be elevated for that meeting, and take the place of the relevant missing rider or riders.

The riders for the official “Nominated Substitute Riders list” will be nominated by the SGP Commission and the SGP Promoter.

  6. Official results sheet from Lonigo states that 5th THJ, 6th Pawlicki and 7th Covatti have been balloted.

Now until someone explains me otherwise, I say that an error has been made. There should have been a runoff between the three to decide riders fininshing 5th and 6th to make for the three substitutes under the current rules for 2015. With Janowski being 1st substitute as it stands.

Dont even mention Zagar, it's irrevelant AT THIS stage. ;)

I read somewhere that the lower places are determined by count back if they finish level so your first sentence looks correct.

As for 3 substitutes I think they only have 1 now which is Jepsen JENSEN at the moment and will be THJ next year.

  7. Phil Rising he comes on to the forum as a speedway fan, for me why does he bother? The crap sometimes he has to take is unreal, some of your comments have been uncalled for.I for one enjoy his posts, and he gives us alot of feedback that we would never get. For me if that was lost that would be a shame and to honest if he didnt bother posting again who could blame him.

I think most people who come on here know their are some head cases and allowances have to be made, Phil Rising is smart enough to know a lot of people appreciate his inside knowledge and help and I am sure the crap he gets from some is mostly ignored like the rest of us have too.

  8. Simple, if the BSPA are going to be seen as consistent, then these riders who choose to ride in Poland on Sunday should receive the same as Zetterstrom, time will tell.

And since when has the BSPA been consistent, apart from cock ups that is.

They're lucky, at Peterborough we cant get them to ride in league matches!!!

    .

    Naughty Dodger

Workington have said that all their riders contracts in 2015 will have written in them that, if they qualify, they will have to ride in the PLRC:

    http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100372

To be fair this is nothing new and it makes not one jot of difference.

Biggest problem is the pay rates they offer, it's generally much lower than the rates the clubs pay.

  9. For all the faults of Rye this year at least Len pays the riders in FULL and ON TIME, this he should get respect for, just look at Peterborough (although there was never a problem at Peterborough or Oxford before, or was there?) And to think that Steve Ribbons was regarded as not a fit and proper person to be a promotor.I hope this year at Rye was all about a small budget due to the installation of the air fence, as I say I hope, as having lost Rye before I so hope we don't go there again.

And you know this as a fact - because?.

  10. perhaps seen as some sort of loyalty to fans as the majority probably just go to home meetings so by missing just away meetings they arent perceived as hitting the fans? Perhaps so as not to hit home gates as thats where the money to pay them will come from? I dont know if its true or anything, just making hypothesese

It's an interesting idea, haven't heard that one before.

An old promoter I knew once told me riders don't go out to come last, I can only say he clearly didn't have the same level of experience of watching the DRYML,s away from home over the years that I had.
