Back to Royal Mail this week and no star delivered today. Not surprised really

After having my star come on time pretty much every Thursday by their alternative deliverer the second week back to Royal Mail it was late arriving.

I find it mind blowing Leicester haven’t made a statement on this - all they have done is share the SCB news bulletin. One of your riders has just been banned for a serious offence and they’ve said nothing!!! It honestly frustrates me how bad some of these promotions are at communication and it’s not even my team.

Pretty much par for the course for this sport

Why was no facility granted last night when both clubs can now (rightly) have a facility for the next 30 days?

Because they followed the rulebook and that’s what it states.

8.2.1 I) A refusal to undergo Anti Doping testing will be regarded for the purpose of application of penalties, identical to a positive test.

8.2.1 j) A rider who refuses to submit themselves prior to the start f heat 1to Anti Doping testing will be automatically excluded from further participation in that particular event.

8.2.1 z) If the outcome of the test(s) result is an immediate exclusion from the event, reserves or TS may be used to take the programmed rides where the excluded rider may have ridden

Seems to have been followed to the letter.

The overall consensus of opinion seems to differ from yours. Iversen only just beat the two minutes exclusion, and then proceeded to ignore the Referee and Start Marshall prompts to be ready to race.

How long should he have been given? Another minute..two minutes...?

As explained earlier David, Niels could have been given a few seconds more, he had just done heats 12 & 13 so I dare say he needed some maintenance and possibly a tyre edge change., which was why he was late going to the gate.

    It sounds reasonable to me.

Two seasons ago I remember watch NKI get excluded for 2 mins in the Swedish at his home track that has a countdown clock.

The stopwatch on my wrist is for my benefit so I am fair to all riders, A riders knows when they are short on time as they are told by the Start Marshal at Leicester. NKI choose to ignore this and the following instructions including the ref flashing the green light twice. The only person who deprved the paying public of the oppositons main man was the rider.

Wayne Jarvis by his decision to exclude NKI delayed the meeting even more and made heat 15 a virtual non event bearing in mind FRICKE was unbeaten and Lawson had only been beaten once by NKI.

Common sense should have been applied, supporters go to watch speedway not referees making poor decisions

The only reason the crowds are terrible is because of the way it is being currently run by Chapman. Get him out the door and new owners in place and the crowds will come back.

Surprisingly the crowds at Peterborough have been fairly good all season, a good bit better than Lynn I might add even though they have an excellent No 1.

    There's the irony....

In that time we have had Rickardsson Gollob Louus Loram Nicholls Doyle Sayfutdinov etc

We have also traditionally had great levels of support with arguably the largest consistent attendances of any club

We have been fortunate with great sponsors even before Guy and TRU from the likes of Woodward , Sackers etc

Ipswich is currently very stable and secure but have won pretty much eff all

Yep, Apart from the Pairs last year nothing since 1998

    No need for a clock.

The 2 minute warning was sounded.
    An announcement was made
A 60 second warning was announced.
A 30 second warning was announced.
NKI then emerged from the pit gate.
He came to the gate at a reasonable speed but not with any sense of urgency.
He then started a full gardening routine.
This was permitted for a short time, but eventually the starting marshal called NKI forward to join the other 3 riders who had been ready to race for some time.
NKI failed to come forward and the ref clearly felt that enough was enough.

I have some sympathy for the view that this was not untypical. I had began to get a bit fed up with the delays at the start last night and generally, actually. But arriving at the start well within the 2 minutes and then gardening is one thing. Leaving the pits with less than 30 seconds to go and then expecting to take significant time preparing to race is taking the pee. And it wasn't just Leicester fans who cheered when NKI was excluded.

Some reasonable points but NKI rode in heats 12, 13 and 15 so clearly could have had issues that needed attention including a likely tyre change, fuel, oil etc.

Bearing in mind that the race wasn't deciding anything either points or aggregate etc, I think some time and common sense should have been applied and unfortunately Jarvis showed niether, having stated that Iversen was excluded for delaying the start the exclusion this action then delayed the meeting conclusion for another few minutes whilst his replacement got ready and appeared.

    It was all so pointless.

  9. Poor night from a Panthers team that little has gone right for from the start of the season but I do agree with Rob Lyon that you do need other things to be right for a good night of speedway and the first of those is a decent track.

The Leicester track was a disgrace, super slick, dry and dusty and produced little passing after bends one and two of the opening lap, it was exactly the same for the Pairs last week so clearly that’s the norm.

Jarvis also had a poor meeting with some very strange decisions ( especially the farce in heat 6) and making a point of excluding Iversen in heat 15 for delaying the start when all 14 riders had done exactly the same for the previous 14 races was frankly ridiculous.

I observed all the riders off their bikes at the start trying to establish a decent start, surely if you wanted to make a point the first four heats would have been the time.

All this talk about Poole being a crap track is utter garbage. If the racing was so poor there would be no one there. Yet Poole have the biggest crowds in the whole of the U.K. They wouldn’t turn up if it was follow the leader. Last night was an exception due to woeful opposition. Glasgow fans need to look no further than their team, rather than blame the Poole track.

Wimborne Road produces excellent racing, but it needs two teams in the meeting. If Poole riders both gate over lesser opposition, what do people actually think will happen?  Last night, heat after heat, Glasgow were found wanting out of the gate. People want passing but it needed the Glasgow riders to gate for the Poole riders to show how it’s done. Plenty of dirt on the outside but never really needed in anger as Pirates were away and gone. Pitiful Glasgow had no answer. It looked like they didn’t change their setups to suit the conditions after all having one ride.

Remember Halifax coming to Swindon in around 1974 and it was something like 60-15.

At Poole we normally get both.

Firstly Glasgow was very poor that goes without saying as 15 last places is a shocking statistic but let’s be fair Steve the Poole track is crap and that’s backed up by the almost complete lack of overtakes.

Poole have an excellent home track advantage and took full advantage of Glasgows shocking performance.

I am not sure who thought Vissing and Complin were a good idea but Brennan was outscored by Pijper.

Its all been pretty downhill since Dickson left.

so trying to be positive - Josh Pickering seems to have settled back in well Lewis Kerr seems to be a concern now two meetings at no 2 where he hasn;'t scored what I would expect of him given his form since arriving from KL last season.

There was local rain throughout the day at various times yesterday and it did rain fairly heavily in the evening and I did think to myself oh this couold stop the meeting. For the record wasn't there!

The weather forecast for some the day at Sheffield was rain, so anybody going or planning to go was pre warned, if promotions don’t provide race day updates (and Sheffield are part of that) then you risk this type of problem.

Its clear that it started to rain prior to heat 8 and then we had three heats where race times were 5 seconds slower than the previous seven, so clearly they raced it through to heat 10 and then talked about it, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that the home side wanted to get to heat 10 and I dare say pit talk was over that scenario.

If the track was not raceable then they are basically saying heats 9 and 10 were completed to get a result and stuff the riders, you cannot have it both ways and yet that’s exactly what’s happened.

This is something Phil Morris should be having an input on, I dare say he wasn’t in attendance, that coupled with the fact that Horley was the referee says everything we need to know.

We decided not to travel bearing in mind the forecast and it proved to be the right one.

A fantastic meeting - well done to Scunthorpe for producing such a brilliant race track. However...as an Oxford fan, I should be pleased with the outcome after the 'superheat'. But I just can't get used to the stupidity of the idea. For one thing, what's wrong with a draw? It would have been a fair result. But to have another heat - where the object of the 'race' is not to win, but to avoid coming last - is just absurd.

Glad I am not the only one who thinks Superheats are just a waste of time and additional expense.

We should have 3 points for each match, win 3, draw home team 1 and away team 2, lose 0.

Let’s make it simple, their is nothing wrong with a draw.

    Hi SJA,

This is not true. We at BSN work around the club and their own grading schedules. We don’t and never have dictated anything in regards to the running of a meeting - we are simply there to document it.

We interview to fill time because there is a track grade or interval, not the opposite.

    Regards,

    Ben Duffill (BSN)

I must be honest Ben I think your coverage is superior to Eurosport

Congratulations to Belle Vue.  Whilst the Leicester track continues to be a slick borefest it should not have a major event there going forward, it really needs some sort of remedial work on there

And Dickson stated that he had prepared the track different to normal, I am yet to see a decent meeting at Leicester in all the years it’s been open.

The Panthers did very well, it’s clearly Worrall’s favourite track and Cook generally backed him up, but it’s almost always gate and go with very little overtaking.
