    Speedway On Eurosport

Happy with this. Will do the sport no harm to have another runner in forthcoming negotiations over EL
  2. Well I actually enjoyed the meeting. (Although I concede that Ben Barker winning the meeting played a big part in that.) As others have said Somerset is a good race track and one of my favourite. I really miss my visits there particularly with some of the racetracks (if they can be called that) we have the pleasure of in the EL. I even hanker after the Rye House track and I never thought I would say that! It was good to see some speedway again and I now cant wait for the season to start proper. Having seen how fast Ben was I think we could be in for a good season.

    Piratecast

Check out sports-radio.co.uk on Friday nights then. We have been running for over a year and do a programme predominately about Birmingham Brummies called the 'Speedway Tavern'. We also do a weekly cricket, Birmingham City and Midlands Rugby programme. Good to see other speedway teams joining in the fun and we have already invited the lads from Piratecast to join us live on air in the weeks prior to any Brum Poole matches. Should be lively lol. Good luck with your venture piratecast.
  4. For Pure drama you just cannott beat the old one of finals. (Would have been even more drama full if they had used the GP formula of a final race tho) Dont really like SGP. And like others have said I believe it is sucking the life out of British speedway in particular. Whats one of the most talked about subjects in Speedway? Penhall V Carter in Los Angeles. Would not have had the same impact if they then had gone onto another eleven rounds.
  5. TAI Woffinden is the latest big name star to agree to ride in the forthcoming Phil Morris Farewell Meeting. The event is set to take place at Birmingham on Thursday 1st September and Woffinden’s inclusion means that all five members of the Great Britain team that rode in the recent World Cup Race-Off will be taking part. The Wolverhampton favourite will join fellow Brits Chris Harris, Edward Kennett, Ben Barker and Lewis Bridger at the Perry Barr stadium, along with the earlier announced Lee Richardson and Ulrich Ostergaard. Morris is naturally delighted with the addition of Woffinden to his big night line-up. He said: “Tai is a sensational rider who is just going to get better and better. “I was over the moon when he said would ride in my farewell meeting.” Another rider who has agreed to take part in the event is former Reading Racer Zdenek ‘Sam’ Simota. The Czech Republic star is keen to put himself in the shop window for a 2011 team spot. Morris added: “I know Sam from our time in the 2007 squad at Reading. “He is a rider who was very popular at Smallmead and has appeared as a track reserve in the Czech Republic Grand Prix. “I am really pleased he is coming over for my meeting.” PHIL MORRIS RACING Website – http://www.philmorris.info Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Phil-Morris-Farewell-Meeting/230570440291934 Twitter - http://twitter.com/philm_farewell

    Elite League Pairs

Many thanks for the understanding for our plight. Speedway family my buttocks!

    Elite League Pairs

Barker is nursing an injury. King is injured. Nermark is in Sweden. The problem is that this was thrust upon us with hours to go and riders are not ready. Bikes are probably in pieces or riders are out of the country or engines at tuners or any number of reasons that would be impossible to sort out at such short notice.

    Elite League Pairs

And if your so clever please tell me exactly what we could do about it? See if you can find a rider prepared to ride with only hours to spare. Oh and By the way to update an earlier list. Nermark is in Sweden and Barker is injured. The real culprits here are the Polish authorities and not Birmingham who are already going to suffer enough thank you very much without sugestions of fines. so I ask again what exactly can birmingham do about this situation?

Bees & Panthers Fans Lets Take Action

How about writing to my two young sons and explaining to them why they should lose their speedway because of the actions of two clubs? How about writing to my dad and explaining to him why you are trying to lose him one of the last chances he may have to support his beloved Brummies. How about writing to my wheelchair bound friends and tell them why two clubs are trying to take away the only thing they have that gets them out of the house.
  12. Nice to see that Phil is being given a testimonial by Birmingham. Announced by Tony Mole at the recent fans forum. No date for this as yet.
  13. Actually its been one of the good things about joining the EL for me. The close season in the PL is boring compared to this.
  14. God knows I have no love of KL but this statement is so far from any sort of truth as to be in another Galaxy. What bung? There was none. What backstabbing? Or are you refering to trying to hold the league to ransom? Chances are without KL and Brum Sky would have pulled the plug a month ago and there would be no EL for Coventry to return to. Ridiculous.

    Brummies 2011

Three tier structure remains in place, Elite, Premier and National Leagues. ELITE LEAGUE Now includes Birmingham who have exchanged league membership with Ipswich, league numbers are not finalised consequently fixture planning has been deferred. PREMIER LEAGUE Still consists of 14 members including new additions Ipswich and Leicester, who have replaced Stoke. The Potters will apply to join the National league at that league’s AGM in December. The league continues with the third year of it’s 3 year plan for teambuilding with a 42.50 team building limit. The Premier Trophy and Young Shield competitions do not continue in 2011. The Premier League Championship involves each club racing 19 home and 19 away fixtures. PREMIER LEAGUE KO CUP DRAW Scunthorpe v Ipswich, Sheffield v Edinburgh, Redcar v Workington, Somerset v Kings Lynn, Rye House v Newcastle, Leicester v Glasgow. 1st Round byes - Berwick and Newport. NATIONAL LEAGUE This league will hold it’s own AGM in December. GENERAL Official Posts ratified so far: The 2010 Management Committee to remain en-bloc with Rob Godfrey to replace Graham Drury as the Premier League reserve member SRBF Secretary – Paul Ackroyd SCB Representatives, Chris Van Straaten and Alex Harkess Super 7even Co-ordinator – David Hoggart Commenting on this year’s AGM, BSPA Chairman Alex Harkess said: "This has been a tough year for British Speedway which has called for harmony and some compromise from our members, we have seen a tremendous amount of goodwill extended between clubs and leagues so that we can look forward to 2011 with optimism. "The potential to expand or consolidate the Elite League still remains and will be finalised before the end of the year." Bye Bye PL. It was good being here and gonna miss you.

    Brummies 2011

I would say that the first half of that statement is true and the second half less so, Particularly if Ippo has really left for the PL. I just hope that if this is true (and I hope its not to be honest) that we have negotiated some favourable entry conditions. Given that we have to re-apply for Planning Permision in two years if the new silencers dont come in I would have thought some guarentee's on that issue would be the minimum, along with financial help for a new air-fence and solutions for the viewing that this causes.

    Brummies 2011

On the way from the forum last night I decided to listen to Radio WM on the off chance. There was a piece advertising the airing of the forum and the commentator said that TM had just confirmed to him that there would be an announcement about the team manager within a week. Make of that what you will.

    Brummies 2011

Nothing underhand here. As it was explained to me, Kyle is a lifelong Poole supporter and when it became apparent that Patch would not be promoting at Birmingham next year this would have meant that Kyle would have become an assett of Swindon. Kyle did not want that, being a Poole fan, and so now remains a Newport assett. This has little bearing on whether or not Kyle rides for Brum next year as the club he has just ridden for has first choice for the next season (or so I have been told) and, in any case, it is up to the rider to make that choice, not his parent club.

    Brummies 2011

I think you will find that Johno is an assett of Birmingham until midnight 31st of October. At which time Gary Patchett will no longer be in Charge at Brummieland. I presume that Johno's contract then reverts to swindon.
  22. This is an old chestnut. The bottom line is while the rules are what they are then team managers will choose the best riders they can get regardless of nationality. Or do you think that Birmingham should penalise ourselves by tracking only Brits while the rest of the league cherry pick the best riders from whatever nationality? To put it another way name some (available) brit riders that could do the same job our current team is doing. Oh and we also have our named number 8 Ben Taylor (Currently injured) and have links with Dudley in the NL that have Brits that will hopefully be ready for the PL soonish.
  23. And you can now add Ben Barker to the list.
  24. Which must mean that you dont think that Jay is good
  25. I for one am risking it (220 round trip) starting out now. I havent seen any speedway for nearly 2 weeks! The wife is monitering this forum for me and ready to text should it be postponed so would be grateful if its posted asap should the worst come to the worst. Fingers crossed.
