Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April

Emil burnt his on an exhaust a few weeks ago and are allegedly at the tailors for repair. JJ, not so sure.

The thing is we live in an information media age, it's the easiest thing in the world to put out a statement explaining the circumstances and then there is no speculation (Unless it's Buster at King's Lynn that is )

Almost as ludicrous as penalising a team for 1 night because a rider has not passed a drugs test

Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April

The trouble is in this new era of transparency we have no idea what went on with Tungate, the SCB don't seem answerable to the media, public or fans
  5. Hasn't there been a similar case recently with a Scottish football team?
  6. No, but equally calling meetings off when there is nothing wrong with the weather can also cause damage in a way that isn't immediately obvious i.e. when punters are making their own minds up whether to attend a meeting weighing up the chances of whether it'll be on or not because clubs haven't been consistent with their decisions in the past

Belle Vue v Ipswich 22nd April

It wasn't though, if Doyley was due back in the UK at 12:30, that's cutting it all a bit fine... it's the fans that suffer as usual

The same thing as Lidsey? Doyley has been a loyal servant to British Speedway, you're correct. It is disappointing though

Charles Wright, who was out injured yesterday replaces Doyley... you couldn't make it up
  12. When the automated starts were not used at Leicester recently it was announced over the PA, not sure if it has been at other tracks. Surely the ref would only need to press 1 button, once, to switch the green lights on and initiate the automatic procedure. What I did see looking at the BSN coverage was the tapes going up as soon as the ref pressed the 2nd button, every time.
  13. All of this cancelling meetings shenanigans needs setting down in the rules in some way, there's far too much of it going on by many clubs in all leagues

  15. Just caught up with this... My first look at the new Worky and it is indeed very impressive and should only get better as a Speedway venue, track is a nice shape and actually seems to use a red shale, which is a rarity in Speedway these days. They'll need to get the dust situation sorted out if they're running during the day, sending punters home covered in dust is simply not acceptable to many people. It was good to see Craig Cook back to his very best, when his head is in the right place there will be few better than him in the CL. Celina showing a few of the men up with her very clear and loud dropping of the F-Bomb... would make a docker blush. Tai Woffinden watch out! Something I did notice was that the ref was starting the races, you could clearly see him through the patio door of the ref's box making exaggerated movements putting the green light on and then releasing the tapes, so much for the new automated system. I wonder if riders will stop looking at the magnets and start watching the ref?
  16. Meeting was not being staged in Chesterfield... treat yourself to a map book from the money you've saved yourself by not going tonight.

    Ipswich vs Oxford 18th April

Track grading times do not appear to be in the rulebook, I thought it was set, apparently not. Kingy did wipe Riss out, no doubt, but Riss was turning in far too early for a rider of his experience. It would not have surprised me to see Riss excluded although admittedly it would have been controversial and I would have been seeing it the other way lol

    Ipswich vs Oxford 18th April

Just caught up with this... Tungate's non appearance cost Spires big time! Good win from Boughen despite losing his steel shoe after a couple of laps. Why was there grading after heat 10? I thought it should be after heat 11, where the interval should have been. Kingy harshly excluded in 12 for me as Riss seemed to be turning into turn 3 halfway down the back straight like a junior! He did it again in the rerun but managed to miss Rew. If Nicholls had the wrong helmet cover on at the end of 2 mins in 14, shouldn't he have been excluded? Fair play Schroeck for fronting up after the match and holding his hands up. The ref should be heading for a spell in the cooler. The standard of reffing seems to really declined over the last few years. There must be big question marks over Tragic Janowski, I really thought he'd excel for Oxford but at the moment they're carrying him.
  20. Phil Morris has a pretty good track record of getting meetings on... unlike British Speedway! There are people that want to see a GP held at the NSS, if they think that they're going to pick up a ticket for the same price as those at Cardiff they're living in cloud cuckoo land, it's simple supply and demand economics... and like you say everything in this country pretty much costs double what it did a few years ago. Dreamboat Phil will get these meetings on, whatever the conditions
  21. The situation Birmingham are in lies completely at Tolley's door, with p155 poor rider selection, that anybody with an inkling of knowledge of the sport could see wasn't up to the task of even being competitive in the PL, Brum are going to face tougher tests than Leicester at home, it doesn't look good for them. Before the season started Tolley was claiming that he had 6 or 7 riders to "choose" from and when he announced the riders he had chosen just about everybody predicted this kind of performance, especially now Nicholls has moved on. Maybe @Col is correct in thinking that once everybody has an actual average a wonder signing will be made that will make them into title contenders as the title is won in September/October and not March/April... but looking at the make up of Brum teams over the last few years I doubt very much that this will happen I think you may have hit on something here, it must be very tempting when your riding on the continent in your shiny new race suit with the Union Jack emblazoned on it and covered in sponsors, with a impressive support team around you to think you've made it! Maybe he is, the sport needs these kind of riders to survive though, not every rider is going to "make it"
  22. 012.1.3 2 Minute Time Allowance Except when the Referee considers that there are valid reasons for delaying the start of an ensuing heat, the interval between the finish of one heat and the start of the next shall not exceed 4 minutes including the 2 minute allowance. I'm pretty sure that 2 consecutive rides does not constitute a valid reason for delaying the start, unless the rider has damaged his bike in his previous ride or something similar , of course this does leave it open to interpretation from the ref. I have heard it announced over the PA in previous seasons that the referee has left the maximum amount of time and all riders are on 2 minutes, so I don't think it's anything new.
