  1. Pirate

    GP Weekend

The itinerary is: Thursday: Sheffield v Glasgow Friday: Somerset v Glasgow Saturday: Sam's, POW, GP, Party at our place, apparently Sunday: Newport Open Monday: Visit to stables in Lambourn and Reading v Sheffield (if we have time) Tuesday: Royal Ascot Wednesday: Drive 400+ miles home Thursday: Glasgow v King's Lynn Friday: Either Ayr races or Edinburgh v King's Lynn Saturday/Sunday: Collapse in big heap Monday: Back to work
  2. Staying at the SACO Apartments on Cathedral Road...overlooking Sofia Gardens Cricket Ground apparently.
  3. Rabbit, it's both. Normal (6pt down) taccy subs have been removed and replaced with 2 Golden Jokers. However, the Golden Double Tactical Substitute still exists so there is nothing to stop a team trailing by 8 at heat 14 to replace their reserve with the top man. This (GDTS) can only be used once. In theory someone could get a 6 ride 24 point maximum!!! My concern is that both Golden Jokers can be used in the same race....a 10-1 anybody? Here's a hypothetical situation if both GJ's can be used in the same race. Your team is up 45-27 after 12 races...looks a fairly easy win. Heat 13 and your opponents bring in 2 GJ's and get a 10-1 (unlikely but possible). Score is 46-37. Heat 14 and their top guy comes in for a reserve as a GDTS and the opponents get an 8-1. Score is 47-45. All of a sudden it's a last heat decider! Good thing or bad thing, you decide. It makes me think scores could be manipulated to stop opponents using a golden joker/gdts but wasn't this also true of tactical substitutions? Can GJ's be used in heat 15? Could a team who was 8 down entering heat 15 (46-38) nominate two GJ's, get a 10-1 and win 48-47????? Similarly, could a team trailing 47-31 with 2 races left actually get a draw? 8-1 in heat 14 with the GDTS and a 10-1 in heat 15 with GJ x 2.
  4. That would be Gricco at Coventry' date=' previously known as Gazgrell on the old forum. [/quote'] Indeed it was Gricco. Must've been all that dust in my ears (eyes, nose, everywhere) at Coventry! ;-)
  5. Wasn't you Mr Rico...must've misheard or it's a different spelling. We have met on a number of occasions and I know you were too busy to be out and about during the afternoon on Saturday.
  6. Yes...I am the guilty party from Cov on Sunday. Not surprised you didn't hear who I was...it was all that dust in our ears!!! I know I met Gemini, Pawprint, Rico, Jo1515, a61, Dutch Boy and Steve Turner but who else, I'm sure there were at least a couple more! Nice to meet you all. btw, BTL...only saw you at Newport, Cardiff in the morning, the POW....twice. (where's the going off in a strop emoticon?) ;-)
  7. 1. Get Sky+. Recorded on the hard drive, no need for a tape. 2. Get Sky+. One press of record button and it's set automatically. 3. Get Sky+. You can watch other sky channels while recording...you can even watch other recordings on the hard disk while recording! 4. Get Sky+. No need for treats cos they don't need any 5. Got to agree
  8. Newport meet up sounds good....the bar before the meeting...and during...and after!! How much is a taxi back to Cardiff anyway! Also, how about arranging a rain off meet up for Friday night just in case? I'm sure a load of folk were left at a loose end last year when Newport was washed out so why not have a provisional date? The Wetherspoon's place from 7 onwards? Then onto the nearest gutter about closing time!!!!
  9. Does this mean you're always getting pulled by sailors  And I do remember Green Pammie...couldn't even face a drink on the Sunday! tsk, tsk. Only way to do it...don't stop from Friday night....but better tape the GP so you can see what happened
  10. Pammie, if you shout I'm sure we'll still hear you.
  11. Yates' at the stadium. Pubs are much of a muchness but this is just sooo close to the stadium and, unlike some others I visited, you could get served quite quickly!
  12. I'll be there...hopefully Dekker will have on his hula skirt.....wonder if I should bring one just in case he forgets his?
  13. For all those not booked yet....don't give up hope. I just managed, on Wednesday, to book Friday and Saturday in the Hilton (yes, the official SGP hotel) via www.superbreak.com. Confirmation came in the post today. There could be other rooms with other discount hotel room sites. Also, where is the meet up going to be this year? Last year it seemed to be scattered all over the place and I seemed to keep missing everyone :-(
