This is a classic case of the IMG selling the series out, with the NZ authorities appearing to go about buying a GP and stipulating who they want in it.
With the announcement of the NZ GP,without an Aussie GP I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought it didn't seem to much sense, but I suppose the answer is as above
NZ has a great history in Speedway in years gone by and it Bunyan needs to be on the pace to a degree or it's not exactly going to reflect too well on NZ Speedway, with the possible 7 time National Champion being British too is it?
I agree it is a strange decision and would have expected one of the Aussies like Schlien or Batch, but I don't agree with the selling out of speedway.
Motogp (occassionally) and World Superbikes (often) have local wild cards compete and they are not up to the standards of the main competitors generally, so all sports are the same.
Alot of the riders in Motogp and the drivers in F1 are there because of the money they bring to the teams and not on merit.
Generally the field in speedway is very much the top riders. The faces are mostly the same because they are the best riders not because they are given an advantage. The people at the top in the GPs are usually those at the top of the averages in the league racing also.

Regarding the costs aren't Sweden employing a salry cap this year after a few of the teams got into financial trouble?
Secondly could Vetlanda be getting some help from Red Bull as their top 3 are all Red Bull sponsored riders.
-
Yes-tried a comeback in the swedish tv match about a month ago but had to pull out
There is a suggestion that he may ride for Leszno in the 2nd leg of the polish playoffs this weekend.

Was Emil a Wildcard, Philip?
Emil was one of the BSI picks for the season in 2009 after his two victories in the u21s. He had failed to get through the GP qualifiers in 2008.

There has been some fantastic racing tonight so why don't you celebrate this

If this is true, I also must question the wisdom of holding this event during the school summer holidays, and to go for August Bank Holiday weekend seems even more strange. Many people will be on their annual holidays over that week and the traffic on the roads during August bank holiday weekend is horrendous. Cardiff has limited hotel capacity and they are always booked solid for GP weekend in June, so many people are going to have to brave the holiday traffic for this one.
Would have been lovely, just for once, to have had Cardiff as the final GP of the season. I know BSI have to work around stadium availability etc but to see the world champion crowned at Cardiff would have been a great 'thank you' gesture to all of the British fans who have supported the Cardiff GP over the past 11 years.
Perhaps BSI have already signed a contract elsewhere for the final GP of 2012.
Everyone has known for ages that the olympics would cause stadium problems next year so no real surprise it had to move to later in the year.
The stadium is used a lot through the year with pop concerts, football and of course rugby. The final grand prix could prove very problamatic at the stadium as there is autumn rugby internationals usually in November and Cardiff Blues have used the stadium for Heineken cup matches before now in October.

The blank in the GB team is due to Nicholls no riding tomorrow. It has been suggested that Lewis Bridger will be the replacement.
In the rugby union premiership the clubs are required to announce teams in advance after some problems with team line ups a few years ago when some clubs would turn up with substantially weaker teams than had been expected.

I would have thought that the most likely reason was just leaving application too late and so badly organised. It was along time ago that the date for Cardiff and Laguta's entry into the Grand Prixs were known.

argh!!! can someoe excplain to me how Bomber got 7th place to qualify for semis. Surely with him being excluded BEFORE Nicki it should be Nicki in 7th and Bomber in
8th. Wrong semi final. Or have I missed something ????
Lots of guys on 7 so individual race doesn't apply. Nicki had two exclusion so was 8th compared to Bombers one exclusion

Headline from streaming site: Fatalna kraksa Pavlica. Zawiniły nowe tłumiki?
Polish speaker please translate....
Think fatalna doesn't mean fatal necessarily. The second bit is the usual polish habit of blaming every single crash on the new silencers

That's what I'm going through, but the moneybookers payment site isn't working and says it won't make any transactions for 24 hours.
You can usually get tickets on the day at Leszno with ticket offices on the main concourse up to the stadium and also on the back side on the stadium.

Think the Danish article suggested 18 gps in future and this was translated into 18 next year in polish article
-
Danish article also includes Nicki and would suggest that things have moved on with New Zealand.

The Travel Club always look after everyone very well and are very well organised. Enjoy your trip

The speedway grand prixs have generally been fantastic this year. Cardiff had plenty of exciting racing as did Leszno and Torun. The racing has far outweighed the racing on F1 and also MotoGP which has been very poor this year even before Rossi was injured. The commentators go on about exciting close racing on MotoGP but even allowing for the extra speed it is nothing compared to the quality of the racing in SGP

I used the app at the stadium on Saturday and thought it worked extremely well. I was very quick to enter the race results, pickm riders/gates for the semis and final and to check the progress of each riders.
-
Saw Emil in World Under 21 final last year. He was head and sholders above everyone else on view. Only made one gate but was extremely quick and overtaking others with ease. Road for Bydgoszcz and Masarna

Totally shocked by this thread!! Cant believe all the Crump bashing!!!Personally - Gutted for Crumpy - fighting through obvious pain only to have an EF on the last lap of he final. Both ref calls were right - Ped clearly panicked and leant onn Jason and Gollob took his leg away. Hope he's fit to ride tomorow!
As for his miserable mood afterwards - He'd just lost his tiny glimpse of the World Title as well as the GP. Add the clear ankle and hand injuy to that and I'm pretty impressed he bothered with rostrum at all!!
Agree with Jen. Decisions were exactly as pointed out above. Obvious Jason wasn't going to be happy afterwards after losing win and also looked very uncomfortable with hand and leg injuries.
Nicki has been a bit of a prima donna lately. He has had a lot of ref decisions go his way this year ie cardiff (3) and leszno. Without these decision he would not have had such a commanding lead. Also his antics recently in the gps at bydgoszcz and latvia with his fued with Tomasz, his comments last night and during the edward jancarz memorial meeting do him no favours as a triple world champion at the end of the season.

Along with most people on this thread I can't believe that Leigh and Bjarne were excluded. The replays show clearly they were very close to the white line whereas Nicki have moved sharply left. The only reason Bjarne went so wide in the first bend was that he was straighten up after Nicki hit him.
No doubt that Nicki should have been excluded for touching the tapes also.
I have some sympathy with Leigh's "Danish influence" comment, especially where Nicki is concerned. It is very clear so far this season that he is getting all the variable decisions going his way. It wasn't just tonight but there was also the semi final in Leszno where even by his own comments Nicki fell off when he could of stayed on. It was clear Jason made contact with Nicki but he fell well after this collission and the picture in the speedway star showed Jason was well ahead before Nicki fell.
All of the decisions have had a great affect on the GP table. Nicki has a 10 point lead but it could be very very close indeed if the decisions had all not all gone on way.

Can see your point but can't see it happening. If your not from GB, Denmark, Poland or Sweden, you don't get nominatedZagar was a wild card pick in 2006
-
I know I may be biased as Cardiff is close to me but if the meeting hadn't been in an indoor stadium it would never have been on. Also the closeness and steepness of the stands means the atmosphere is not lost.
I'm sure that those trying to push Wembley would have had no meeting if it was held there.

I've been to all the Cardiff GPs and thought that this was the best and a fantastic performance from Bomber.
Track was the best at Cardiff but probably not as good as Parken three weeks ago.
Hopefully this will help bring in the crowds at some of the teams who are struggling.
-
Personally as a Jason fan I would like him to win it again, but I think Nicki will go very very close. He has started the season very well and seems fit this year.
It will be interesting to see how Hans goes now so much more is expected of him.
If he can improve his consistency then AJ could also challenge.
