  1. I've done Somerset a fair few times and always seen cracking racing, M5 on a Friday's a nightmare though. Really enjoyed Glasgow seemed upbeat and loads of youngsters which was unusual for speedway. Went up and back the same day, no problem!

Had an overnight stay when we did Edinburgh then Workington. Still got Newcastle, Berwick and Redcar to do so that's my plan for next season

no bother with somerset on fridays next year , mondays and thursdays or drop back down so the m5 shouldn't be too bad , Like you and give us a b ,I have no team and I have had enough , I wont travel about to watch speedway because unless I'm watching my own team I'm not interested , Ill just read about speedway sinking further into the mire pandering to a few top riders and Poland , and spend the dosh on takeaways to enjoy ,while I watch the GP's use league speedways bread and butter earners to run their profit making circus

  2. How does a rider alter it on the fly,or is it altered by an ECU

originally the poles had a switch concealed . until martin smolinski revealed the magic button thinking he had done nothing wrong . but the new ignitions just have the advance and retard built in . I think it can be programmed with a laptop as well , It's the same system as fitted to trials bikes and Mx bikes

I would like to see some sort of award doled out to Alf Weedon , the bloke had a huge history in the background of speedway. and I think he deserves a bit of recognition

  4. Like he buys all the stadiums where Speedway and Darts are played ?

What are the crowds like for these mx events and what do they pay to get in ?

british national championship MX events have far bigger paying crowds than most speedway and the admission is more ,but they don't get paid ,in fact some teams pay to enter , road racing Ducati Cup part of the BSB series , teams pay unbelievable entry fees ,and riders rent a place in those teams, riders don't get paid ,

  5. SPOKE to someone today who had a conversation with a prominent promoter. He said that he was disappointed at what I wrote in SS and wondered why I was always putting British speedway down. It is in fine shape he said. What planet are some of these guys on?

But they all think anything they say and do Is 100% right especially the wannabees , offer an alternative opinion at your peril because every single one of them has a troop of of sycopants ready and armed with a keyboard

  6. If Teterow had been a one off world final meeting, Zagar would have been world champ.

I would love to see Zagar as world champ as IMO he is a class rider, BUT the way he has ridden this year he is not up there, and it would have been an injustice if he had been crowned world champ.

Thats why I favour the GPs these days.

I dont mind the Gps . but i think theres too many rounds , 6 would be enough to sort out who's the best ,and enough for the best to have a bad one and still not lose out overall , minimum disruption to league speedway , and leaves time for the European big open meetings ,like the gold bar etc ,

  7. ...I'm in my fifties and don't regret for one minute not going to University.

Having worked in a University Department for 17 years I saw the process first hand.

I wish I had gone to university , In the 70s full student grants , living with a house full of mates ,great bands on the uni circuit , the education side of it ,

just enough to keep me in for the 3 years ,,

I , like Phillip Rising have just enough education to perform , Whoosh straight over his head

  8. Doyle got to anticipate the start but Janowski got excluded .Not consistent.

Doyle gets rollers all the time , and when Woffy beat him to the first turn the ref called it back and Woffy got warned ,,, rubbishe ref

WASN'T at KL or Teterow but can we compare the condition of the two tracks? The track at Teterow didn't appear dangerous although it was far from perfect and not conducive to decent racing until the final stages.

As I said, wasn't at KL but have had some interesting confidential conversations with people ho believe that all the facts of that fateful night at KL have yet to emerge. They might if Holder goes ahead with an appeal.

Why would he bother with an appeal ? he doesn't want to ride here anyway , or is he now rubbishting his pants because he's crap and the Poles might not want him .. never mind Holder you can stay home and earn a living from speedway there ..

  9. The irony of Holder having his best night on a wet track in difficult conditions! Terrible GP looked like a bigger version of Buxton without the views. This was taking the series back to the days of Norden. Hope Doyle goes on to win the title now after his bad luck last season, if its not to be for Jason Id like Lindgren to come through, hes not always brought his league form to the GP,s but this season has seen him step up, he was very unlucky to be excluded, why does a rider have to be thrown out if its on the back straight if its a racing incident and no one is to blame?

actually Imho zagar should have been excluded , sweeping from the outside straight across Dudek leaving him no option other than to turn in straight into freddie , if that had been Nicki he would have neenm out before freddie hit the floor

Not really. Five rides, 14 points & Doyle wins. Don't like him at all, but he is the best there is right now.

On form he was a worthy winner, but he shouldn't have won. Nielsen did have him off though in that same race & had Sam been excluded when not under power (he had lost a chain) in the same race, there is a good chance Andy Smith could have won it

It's only Pearson that does that.

    Yawn.

It was an absolutely appalling GP. Track was terrible, but from those I have spoken too in the past, the racing there is rarely decent anyway.

The venue as a GP venue is terrible. Basically a speedway track in a field. I went to Pocking in 93, Norden in 83 & Vojens in 88 which were all much the same. Have we really come nowhere in all that time. They should not hold another GP.

The referee. Awful. Too many restarts when not required, got the Zmarzlik exclusion woefully wrong & thought was very harsh on Lindgren who was riding in a straight line when Dudek wasn't & they touched.

Holder. What a git. Whined like a baby about the track at Lynn & lo & behold has a great GP on a track more suited to motocross. But then he was riding for himself last night, not his team.

Finally Doyle. Don't like him at all, but it does look as though he will get a deserved world title this year.

I thought Woffindens warning was duff as well , and the subsequent restart cost him a win ,

  10. Surely the one with the most points will win unless they change the rules, haha, so no need to deserve it?

By the way for no apparent reason I dislike Doyle, but that doesnt mean that I dont recognise that hes been the best rider in the world over the last 18 months

makes no odds whether I like him or not ,( I don't think theres an question about that ) In 1 year Hans Nielsen went a whole season without being beaten at Oxford and won almost every race at away tracks , he was far and away the best rider in the world , Didn't win the world championship theough ,because someone scored more points than he did , What Doyle has done in the last 18 months in speedway terms .counts for about the same as Woffinden collecting money for chariity ....Nothing ,

  11. Rubbish stadium, rubbish racing. Nothing at all to enjoy. Needs to be knocked off the GP calendar. Eith the Germans come up with a better stadium or its left off. Nothing redeeming about it sorry to say.

There was a nice one in Gelsenkiirken , and they were all set to try a radical new approach to track building , getting the spectators to bring the shale in with them when they took their seats, sadly some idiot left the shale uncovered and there weren't enough polystyrene cups to go round to bring it in ,so it had to be abandoned last minute ,

What an absolutely awful GP. Back to being in a field in Germany, Thought we were over that! Sure they had weather problems but last nights 'entertainment' was very very poor.

Looks like Doyle will be World Champion this year and who can say that he doesnt deserve it after he was by far the best rider last year only to be denied by injury, and currently is at the top of the pile by 10 points.

I can , the rider who deserves to win will be the one with the most points after the last GP , not not because of any incident last year .. you don't get world titles because you deserve them otherwise whats the point of the series .

Imagine winning a GP and finding out that that's the trophy!! ebay?

there was another trophy ,but that was kept in case Doyle didn't choke at the last minute , a much bigger and better trophy because "He deserves it "

Always wondered why when a track is wet and the meeting goes ahead (just), why don't they have the riders just blasting round to turn the dirt over an hour or so before the meeting, (maybe even have locals on standby so no one gets an advantage)..

4 riders doing 40 laps would replicate ten heats..

Every time I see a meeting like this the racing improves as it slickens off and the thick dirt/mud/slime gets moved out..

It just happens too late to make the meeting entertaining..

sidecars would do and even better job , or even quads

  12. Can't believe how fans still hang their hats onto fantasies like this...can someone who advocates independent fantasy promoters please explain:

    1. Who appoints these independent people

    2. Who they have in mind to do the job

    3. What the experience and expertise in speedway that an independent person has to have to be of benefit to the sport

    4. Who pays these independent people and how payment is made to avoid the "he who pays the piper" accusations that will follow if not done correctly

    5. How much should an Barry Hearn type of character be paid to make it worthwhile for them to take on the job? Bear in mind that these people didn't become millionaires out of altruism or charity.

    6. Who gets rid of independent people who prove to be bad at their job?

A Barry Hearn character should not be paid , If they are worth their salt then they will be confident enough in their own ability to get paid on results .. the SCB was set up to be an independent body .and Initialy it was ..SCB officials were not allowed contact with promoters or riders ,over the years the SCB has just become an offshoot of the BSPA , All riders have to buy an ACU permit to ride , and pay start fees to them to race abroad the promoters also have to pay to tun speedway under their auspices , THEY should provide an Independent jury to oversee disputes and penalties , otherwise what are we paying them for ?

  13. SORRY but I cannot agree with most of that. As far as I am concerned all riders are vastly underpaid although that doesn't mean they can expect what isn't there. However, considering that most have to fund their own equipment and transport, face increasing insurance, know that every time they go to the tapes it could result in serious or even life-threatening injuries or worse and more often than not for a relative pittance earns my admiration. Without them there wouldn't be speedway and as we see now, fewer and fewer youngsters are coming through the ranks in places like Denmark and Sweden because a career in speedway simply isn't that attractive.

Your comments about brain surgeons is particularly insulting. I know of one young rider who can earn between £800 and £1000 a week as a plumber. He knows he will never be a World Champion but he loves speedway and tries desperately to combine the two. But it isn't easy and if he had to make a choice on purely financial reasons he would quit. One down and many more in a similar position.

each weekend ,literally thousands go racing MX for nothing other than because they want to , not one of them gets paid , but they go out and take the same or even more risks as speedway riders , even some of the speedway riders who are always wanting more money ,will pay out of their speedway earnings to ride MX , you have to laugh ,
