Just remembered the crass and embarrasing "come on England" thing.

    Cardiff 2009

Really enjoyed the whole day as usual. Re the alcohol. I love a beer and a boozy day as much as anyone. Drove yesterday so couldn't partake, but having been to over 80 football league grounds and been on some boozy away days by train, just cos' you drink it does't mean you have to kick off. Going back to the first GP's at Cardiff, there was trouble with some Poole fans near us all booze related, and every year there is some form of incident. Sadly it appears that more security / police, and more regulating of who is sold booze is required. If you're in a pub, or at a football match, you don't get served if you are obviously off your face. That way the people that don't drink, and the people that can enjoy a good drink sensibly can enjoy the day, and the people that can't don't ruin it for everyone around them. Re Emil / Scott incident. They were meant to be in front of the jury straight after the meeting, so why hasn't news been put out as to what the punishment is? Would expect a fine, and suspended ban. Finally, I know this comment has been made re football, but why use a ref from a speedway backwater like Germany. He called it the way he saw it, and not doubting he doesn't know rules, etc, but has he been involved in a meeting with as high proflie, and as much atmosphere as that before? Crumpie was lucky to get back in with AJ, he looked like he leant back in. Bomber did connect with Hans, who would have stayed on if he could have held his postion, but dropped it when he saw he wasn't going to, and then the same thing happens with Nikki P, and he gives the opposite decision?

Sat between 1st and 2nd bends, and could hear it too much! Maybe I'm getting old, but there was no need for it to be so loud. To the point of distortion. Even the air horns didn't seem as loud, as they were drowned out by the music /shouting. Presenter was good in comments, etc, but just loud. Music seemed to be trying to hard. I'm all for atmospheric stuff, and witty tunes for winning riders, but not to the extent it was tried last year and last night.
  6. Anyone know if they are doing the autographs and pictures again. Got a cracking picture of my (then) 5 year old with Bomber from IMG last year. If so; what time?
  7. Unless you count Master Gollob's team rides using other nations riders to his advantage; twice in the last couple of years. Class.

    European Gp 2009

I would have no objection to Hampden or Murrayfield. I am not trying to upset Scottish or Welsh fans here (honest), but why not have an English GP at Wembley and alternate between Cardiff, Hampden and Murrayfield for a British GP? :takecoversmillie: My only problem with Cardiff is access and hotels. Londons hotels and tube would easily stand up to a GP. I was at the England V Scotland Euro '96 game, and there was plenty of pubs, bars, etc to keep 80 odd thousand entertained in and around Wembley. For selfish reasons I would love to be part of an injection of colour in to Richmond, as I started my journey to Wembley for a GP!
  9. Guess I'm with you now. Laughed at the time, then thought; hang on a minute, but looking back my 5 year old didn't have a scooby doo. Liked the overall theme of the music, but would have thrown a few different tracks in. Guess thats just like any other DJ tho'.

Thanks Sandie. Hope you has a good 'un as well. Was hoping to get to say hi to some of you, but had promised the little un a pressie or few at the fayre thing, and then autograph session, etc, so didn't get a chance. "Wizzer" Phil Morris was outside the POW. Did he join up with the forumers?

    Looks Like A Record

"Londoner" here. Or suburbs at least. Give me a track to go to, and I'll go Can't go week in week out, but can be seen at Reading, Somerset, Rye House, Mildenhall, Eastbourne, and Weymouth, Sittingbourne and Lakeside from time to time. Put myself firmly on the fence, between the leave our speedway alone, would rather be part of a cult in crumbling stadiums, with anoraks and badges for merchandise and the smiley, gleaming grand prix, occasion type of speedway fan. Personally I love nothing more than a sun baked afternoon / evening watching the nitty gritty at Reading, Mildenhall, etc. However last night was my 8th in a row at Cardiff, and once again it was one of the best weekends of the year. How do the Poles and Swedes feel about GP? League racing doesn't seem to suffer in those countries. Are we being typical insular islanders?

Stayed at the Travelodge Central, over the Walkabout. Had some worries about noise (8 month pregnant wife and 5 year old son), so rang last week and asked to be put in a quiet back room. Ended up on the 3rd floor. Lift not working, but for lack of noise, value for money and proximity to stadium, it was spot on.

Can't say he's one of my favourites, but don't have the same dislike of him as many. Don't let other people get to you, and enjoy supporting whoever you want to Now if it was Hans Andersen

Ah. It was all pantomine! Was one of the few clapping him back in to the pits, whilst the scottish fella behind me hurled abuse. Think it got to him, as at the end he shouted "bet you want Germany to win tomorrow as well"

    Who's Going To Cardiff

Understand exactly what you say (well from a male viewpoint ), but I'm gonna be taking great pleasure from doing it the other way. Took our 4 year old last year expecting him to be a pain and to detract from everything, but he was glued to it all. He's now 5 and understands that bit more. I can't wait to see how much pleasure he's gonna get from it. Have done the getting on the lash bit before, but looking forward to the best of both worlds; a few beers, and seeing my son's wide open eyes Mind you we're going to look like a confused family, with bits of Wimbledon and Bomber merchandise, and he hasn't made his mind up if he's wearing his home made Nicholls race jacket, a Somerset Rebels race jacket, or (if he continues behaving himself) the new race jacket we get from the Rugby club fayre. Birmingham Brummies a favourite for some reason Thats without him flashing his Wacky Racer membership card around! We're both using your terminology now, and as we're going Saturday morning its 3 sleeps 'til Cardiff
