Grand Prix Challenge.
mickthemuppet replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If people think this meeting is expensive why not go to Coventry City Football ground . £22 for an away supporter. Whats the better value. For the £3 difference give me Speedway any time. This is not the dearest priced ticket either. -
Slovenian Gp, Krsko 12.9.
mickthemuppet replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Surely we are now in the twilight era in the life of Grand Prixs. With three Gps to go everyone knows Jason Crump will be the winner. How can you have proper meetings when the inside gates completly dominate the meeting, and it's not the first GP to do so. Sky are showing their lask of interest in Speedway with the red button farce. How long now when they start showing recording's of these meetings. Let's get rid of the GP's and get back to the old world championships one off finals. Lets get back to Saturday night speedway in Britain like it used to be and get the crowds back Grand Prix's have been the worst thing that has happened to British Speedway and no clubs benefit from these meetings. The sooner they are gone the better. -

Swc- The Final
mickthemuppet replied to Niclas's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If Poland do not win this final it will be the fault o the team manager Marius Ciesak . Why oh why did he not use a tactical on Jarek Hampel in Heat 17. -

I don't think you can carry on promoting Speedway if you are not paying the riders. -

mickthemuppet replied to sunnysally's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Can Ipswich put a team in the Speedway World Cup next year. If they can get Scott Nicholls to ride the other four riders were there tonight with Jaraslav Hampel, Tomasz Gollob, Daniel King and Troy Batchelor. -
Tai Or Kenett
mickthemuppet replied to Tommy Sweetman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I backed Danny King to be the top scorer for GB at 16/1 and have been paid out as a winner. Should I get on to the bookmaker and say they have made a mistake. You've lost me on the Denman bit ,mind you a lot of your posts are a bit wooly. -
Swc Event 2, Peterborough 13.7.
mickthemuppet replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think you will find that there were hardly any teams that had there best riders out whether it was by injury or team selection, so it was not just Team GB If everyone scored what Danny King did this would be regarded as a fantastic performance -
Tai Or Kenett
mickthemuppet replied to Tommy Sweetman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Only you of all the people on the forum could suggest to dropping your top scorer. Still one out of three for you is not bad. Rico should ride but not at the expense of Danny King, but for Woofie. -
Gp's Or Back To The Old World Championships
mickthemuppet posted a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Coming back from the Swedish Grand Prix, can this system survive. We have had now 3 SPG's and the attendances to put is mildly have been disappointing. We started at the Prague Grand Prix at the Marketa Stadium. Last year I thought there were 7500 to 8000 although there seemed many more walking round the city. This year I think more like 3,500 there. Then moving on to Lezno. Last year 25,000 this year looked about half that amount. Then we move on to Ullevi in Sweden. The Swedish Federation say they need 18,000 to break even. Last year 17,000 this year 12,000 to 13,000 . There is a groundswell of opinion that the world championship should go back to a one off final like it used to be. This is backed up by quite a few ex riders and surely it would be a sell out at Cardiff with perhaps 80,000 there. I am sure that the days of the GP are numbered. I am sorry to say this but Cardiff will be lucky to get 30,000 people there this year, as the general trend is the GP's are too much the same and they are getting too dear. Once you get rid of the GP's British Speedway can get back to racing on Friday and Saturday nights with greatly increased attendences which will mean more money coming back into the sport which will entice the top riders back -
Gp's Or Back To The Old World Championships
mickthemuppet replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I bought the subject up , as you will probably hear quite a bit more about it in the near future. This is seriously being considered. , by certain FIM officials. If the promoters around Europe cannot make a profit out of GP 's they are not going to keep carry on running them are they? -
British Final

As Danny King has just been excluded from heat 8 there should be provision for an excluded rider to go off 15 metres back -

Congrats o Robert Mear on winning the meeting but very unlucky on Tai who looked the winner before his puncture. Wel done Kozza Smith on you comback trail . Lewis Bridger grow up because Kozza and Tai beat you in one race. Nothing dirty just good hard racing. Does it make any difference if you win the meeting or just qualify? -

Temporary Tracks Cardiff And Ullevi
mickthemuppet replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Great - The sooner the Grand Prix are got rid of the better Speedway will be. That have been the reason for the decline in Speedway in Great Briain. Let's get back to the old world championships with riders having to ride three qualification rides then semi finals going on to a Grand Final. That would certainly fill Cardiff or any other large stadium -
Forget the Bookmakers the best odds on offer will be with Betfair and they are the only people where you can bet place only. That is on the first three places. Some bookies bet win only. Betfair odds will normally be up on Friday. Forget Bookmakers their odds are very poor.

Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has just announced that the Grand Prix will be decided on race wins this season and not on points . Should Speedway Grand Prix's go down the same route . I don't know if this would make much difference to the results although Mark Loram certainly would not have won Has Formua One got it right or have they make a great mistake?

Czech Gp

For any trips first go to www.quidco .com and sign up. Then go to to Hotel.com or others on this site as this willl get you on average 10% discount on hotel prices. Last year I booked the 5 star Corinth Towers for two and the cost was £130 for 3 nghts Bed and Breakfast and we were upgraded. Great value ut this year for the same 3 days is £256. Still good value. Hotel is 300 yards from Metro then 3 stops to Prague Centre. At the airport get the bus to Prague. This will take you to the Metro which has 3 lines and a 4th to be added. The Metro will take you nearly evewhere and it is cheap and frequent. You can also take the trams or buses. I think a days ticket was £3 for all. Last year we sat on the 3rd and 4th bends ,3 rows from the front . Great view until they graded and watered the track after heat 4 .Then we got covered in wet shale. We then moved to the home straight and sat there in the dear seats. No problem. Prague is a great city ,certainly in the top 5 cities in Europe. -
Will the could I call it the devaluation of the Pound against the Euro affect peoples trips abroad this year. I went to Prague where for two the cost of the hotel was £142 , this year £258 for the same hotel. What sort of product to the GP's think they have with tickets there going up to £84. That will be a miss this year. Obviously will not be going back to Gelschenkirchen. I went to Sweden as well and that is 25% up on last year. It will be quite interesting to see whether the GP's will lose their attraction in the near future

As Poland are the possibly the top Speedway nation at the present time why have they only had one world champion who was a lucky winner in 1973 and except Tomasz Gollob not looked like having another one

Idea For Sgp / World Final
mickthemuppet replied to dabbsjoe's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having been to both one off world finals and Grand Prix home and abroad, there was nothing like the one off world finals for excitement. How can you compare a Individual World Final at Wembley with a GP at Gelschenkirchen or Vojens I personally think the GP's in their present form only have a limited shelf life left in them. What is the point going to a GP when the world championship has already been decided. Attendences are falling at the GP's and will fall further still this season. How many actually made a profit last season. -
European Hotel Prices
mickthemuppet replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Go to the site www,quidco.com and book hotels abroad with the holiday companies like hotel.com and save another 8% on average. They do holidays all over Europe,Electrical goods, bookies account all with discounts. It cost £5 to join but you do not pay anything as he comes off your first discount. -
Sweden's Elite League - Only 9 Teams!
mickthemuppet replied to oldtimewolf's topic in International World of Speedway
So with 9 teams all club will have to go at certain times of the season without a home match for three weeks. Wonder how long the gap will be if they get rain offs as well.
