Oxford back Are there any chance of other defunct tracks returning
mickthemuppet posted a topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Now Oxford are back what are the chances of other tracks returning like Coventry, Bradford, Swindon, Workington, Exeter, Arena Essex or even Reading -
I have to admit to having seen all these riders. My first world final I saw was the 1949 World final when English riders finished 1st,2nd, and 3rd Dan Forsberg was an excellent heat leader for Birmingham and Aage Hansen rode for Ipswich in 1957

probably because his was owed money

SON 2021 finals Sat/Sun 16th/17th Oct- FINALS START AT 4PM BOTH DAYS

No S O N shoud have play offs and finals. Should have been 42 heats and that's it. Poland were far the best team and should have been crowned champions. Rather silly that the team scoring way more than any other team only come second -
It will be interesting to see what odds Bet 365 will put up for Belle Vue at Peterborough. Normally a team that draws away would be around -8 at home but I think 365 will go around + 4 to 6 to the Aces. Wolves v Ipswich perhaps + 8 for Ipswich
-
Interesting to see Bet 365 individual scores and on the two previous meeting at the EESG only Jay Etheridge @ 6 scored higher in both matches. Surely MPT should get more than 3 and Tom Brennan more than 2 and Jordan Palin more than 2 although he has not scored a point at home against BV at home. With Craig Cook a home win looks likely
-
This might be the last time that the bookmakers put up odds on a league match ever. Possibly around 4 left and at one time there were around 20 Tonight Peterborough at +6 looks quite generous as the have not lost at BV this season and BV have had a few close meeting where they should have done better Hans Anderson over 5 looks interesting as does if fit Michael Palm Toft over 5 as well

With 3 guests how can Peterborough be priced up at 1/5 ipswich are 7/2 scratch and 11/10 with 8 start

I think JS is much derided as not only did he beat Ivan Mauger to win his World Individual he won the World Pairs as well in 1971. He partnered Andrzej Wyglenda . They scored 15 points each for 30 points. Who finished 2nd on 25 points none other than Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger 3rd was Anders Michanek and Bernt Persson. So was this title a fluke as well His problem was the restriction placed on him by the Polish authorities who blocked him from leaving Poland too many times
-
Surely there should be room to run Grand Pix and an individual competitions in the same season. Other sports do. I used to think the qualifying rounds in the individual event were great .A rider would have one home meeting and two away and highest scorers went to the final 16.

Jack Parker finished 12th in one Wembley world final yet never took part in one race -
The individual world finals were always at Wembley. This competition was set up by 7 British promoters which included 6 from London clubs. The profits were then put back to the UK clubs. Where or why did all this change . Surely they had a monopoly like Darts and Snooker has where world finals are always held in this country. I am sure Len Silver would have some of the answers
