Redcar v eastbourne koc semi finals 6/7 sept
northyorksbear replied to ruckerroo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We all said 10 points was the benchmark - any more made Bears favourites, any less Eagles on top - so all to play (ride) for in second leg. I'm hoping Edwards poor form continues (can improve after tonight) that might just be the deciding factor, but ultimately I think it will be how the big boys do against each other -
Well Done to Kaiser Erik, great performance. But lets also celebrate Tom Woolley, he matched GB & Glasgow (and defending champion) star Craig Cook's score - and from one less ride

Whoosh - still going up

Not worried about the result in this, Bears are on a fact finding mission ready for the biggie next month

If you deliberately post to wind people up then don't moan when you get flak back! If you can't take it don't dish it out ! -

If it is off I'll just tell my wife I decided not to go to spend the evening with her - it will earn me some credit after pointing out I was out 4 evenings out of 7 at Speedway (maybe 5 out of 8 if I go to Scunny) Nobody spill the beans and tell her it was cancelled if this happens -

You would have been even more impressed with Jitendra's extra article in the week before's programme he put out a two page spread detailing the whole reasoning behind the triple change the Bears made and explaining exactly how the promotion (himself and Jade) went about it. A really top class and informative article which countered all the rumours and criticism posted on here about timing of Ulrich's departure, his expenditure on flights and Jack Smith being harshly treated. Fans at Redcar feel we are very lucky to have two guys who understand the necessity to engage with the public, give explanations (where possible) about what is going on behind the scenes and want the crowd each week to feel they have been made welcome and had an entertaining and value for money evening! I'm sure your comments will have gone down very well with them both.- 27 replies

Whilst it is good to be gracious in defeat, one should also not gloat (too much) in victory, certainly not to the extent of abuse - to mirror a previous comment it is good to see genuine Bears/Speedway fans enjoy the victory and be grateful!!! -

Jade needs to have a serious talk with the riders on the inside gate on the other three occasions - not following team orders and the masterplan !!! Think the Bears had some things go their way over the two legs - Proctor not matching Jensen's potential score - Ostergaard riding his 550 instead of the 350 - rr working in their favour in both legs and of course the major factor of duping Glasgow riders at the tapes this evening But you have to take your chances and following the defeat of Somerset this is another top side we have put out of the cup, really good to hear genuine Glasgow/speedway fans offer congratulations to the winners over two legs. Lets hope we can meet in the playoffs (preferably the final)! -
Cheers

Hi Plymouth fans, I'm down in this area on holiday and intend to visit Plymouth for the first time on Friday - Any tips? Seating arrangements (the missus will want to sit!!) , food ? parking? Any thoughts very welcome

The only reason he may have outscored Greaves at home is due to Redcar giving him the easier no 7 slot so he faced an opponent's reserve 5 times - he was very fortunate in this respect, and if as been suggested he resented being dropped from one ride to make way for a far superior rider which would without doubt have helped the team, ,then he needs to have a close look at his attitude towards a team sport. I have nothing against the lad and he seems very personable I wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts.

So a rider asks to be replaced but then you decide to wait s day a week a month in case they change their mind!! Possibly the most ridiculous post I have read this season

Julie Lewis Memorial @ Redcar 24/5/19

Agree with Boz -McDonald looked useful- worth a go if a team needs a rider - Bukhave did look good, but I think he may have tired - some riders had 7 and even 8 rides - and I reckon Jacob wasn't used to that. List looked ok, but always at the back, think Josh Auty gave him starting tips whilst at Scunny!! I would also like to say well done to promotion on an innovative ides and the presentation of the meeting exceedingly slick getting through a full programme of 23 heats -

I agree it isn't a "great" line up in the sense of world class GP riders - In an ideal world we would want to see Tai Woffinden, Greg Hancock, Nikki Pederson, Freddie Lindgren, 2 or 3 top Polish riders, Jason Doyle, Emil Sayfutdinov, Hans Andersen etc etc. You could also argue that a "better" line up would include the likes of Robert Lambert, Danny King, Craig Cook, Jack Holder, Chris Harris etc etc. However this is a testimonial meeting and most of those riders won't be available, or will be reluctant to ride for the basic pay on offer (You only have to look at line up for the Ben Fund - very similar to Ben's line up!!) What Ben has done in assembling his line up goes very much in tune with his character, he has all his new team mates on board (except one who is unavailable) as he sees the value in giving them track time and it will help to build team spirit for the coming season. He has made the gesture of including Workington (a good commercial decision if it entices comets fans over) and giving the likes of Simon Lambert and Kyle Bickley the opportunity to get additional races under their belt and remind promoters they are available. I assume the invite to David Wallinger is a thank you for all the assistance he has given Ben whilst he has been with Redcar, again a typical gesture from BB. So no it isn't a "great" line up in the true sense, but when you look into the reasoning and thought behind the line up it is a very, very good one and I hope many fans come along to support all the riders
