No, but bearing in mind that we couldn't pay our riders properly last year, half the promotion team bailed and the commercial manager's gone then it's not exactly rosy. The reality is that we can't afford a competitive EL team and don't have a benefactor-style promoter willing to cover vast losses.

I think this team needs a bit more than Phil Morris. Not even The Thunderbirds could save us.

And here we have a thread that is now becoming however many pages long because of that attitude. We had a page alone of Starman refusing to accept that Holder had been declared in the team. On any other teams thread this type of discussion would be over in a page and a half. And then particular Poole fans will pipe up with 'if this was on a Poole thread it would be 20 pages long as you hate us boo hoo...you're all so jealous'. So let this thread serve as a note those Poole posters - YOU are the reason Poole threads go on and on.

The unnecessary interval is one of my pet hates. Especially annoying is when there's already been lengthy hold-ups for fence repairs and the like and they announce an interval.

When reading Steve's posts I find that if you imagine a 5 year old with screwed up face going 'NAH NA NA NAH NA' at the end of each one it kind of makes them complete.

I remember watching us annihilate Mildenhall at the start of the 2008 season and thinking we must be pretty good. Only for everyone else to trash them too. We are clearly, as everyone predicted, a dreadful team. I wouldn't be reading too much into any result at the moment. .

It's still just someone's opinion. Look at the Speedway Star predictions, other than teams that are obviously poor/good the predictions rarely have much to do with reality.

No, it's about having a draft that's worthy of the name. The whole point of this debate is that if Bates is simply allowed to sign for A.N Other club then why bother having the draft in the first place? Otherwise, just do away with it and have a rule that says that any NL rider who hasn't ridden in PL or achieved a PL average of x or above have to make up the EL reserve berths. But that isn't the system the BSPA decided upon. They decided on a draft, and if they're going to do that then at least do it properly.

And for that first Sky meeting at BP some folk on here are going to need to get their tin hats on.

If those 3 or 4 people stopped posting Leicester threads would still have people moaning about the place because it offers up poor quality speedway - they wouldn't have agendas, they're just speedway fans. You might be perfectly happy watching speedway there every week, but don't be surprised if plenty aren't.

You might like to tell yourself that, but it's not true though is it. Many, many neutral fans have visited BP and commented on the poor racing there, they have no axe to grind, they just visited a track, paid their money, and saw a poor night of speedway.

The point was about comparing EL/PL. It's all relative as those aren't tracks famed for astonishing speedway, but the points I made would apply to those tracks too.

Yes there is. And in terms of racing I prefer the EL, not because there are more 'good' races, because to be honest I think the number of 'good' races in a meeting has been pretty much the same in PL and EL. But the first couple of bends are a little more cut and thrust in the EL, and there is a higher chance of a 'Wow, did you see that' kind of move happening. That said, I enjoyed following Brum in the PL immensely and I wouldn't worry if we ever end up back there. There is slightly more variation in the teams you face, though not to the degree that some PL diehards would like to believe.

This is what separates the perpetual whinger from the genuinely concerned fan. Speedway is in poor shape and on an inexorable slide into oblivion. So lets try and address the factors that are causing that, not whinge and moan just for the sake of it and about things that aren't going to make any difference. Do you really think that if the picture is changed to a speedway bike, and the 10 ticket price reduced to £5.80 or whatever that more people will be there? Any of the offers listed for the meeting are reasonable value.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Can you even imagine the vast swathes of groups of 10 people who were going to sign up for this one and now won't. Or, even worse, the tens of thousands who will pour in through the gate only to storm out as heat 1 comes to the tapes and they realise the bikes don't have rear suspension - final nail in the promotion's coffin I fear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody seemed too bothered by rider safety if they fell before the end of heat ten. Besides, the fact is we all know that the meeting would have continued had Poole not been the required numbers up. It was a dreadful, farcical evening, a sham of a meeting that only existed to ensure Poole got their way, as several Poole fans on here acknowledged at the time.

I doubt it, but it'd be better than nowt. You could do the reverse of your near neighbours and get the track right and worry about the rest later.
