  1. Fair play Neil. Best Wishes for tonight, 100% commitment as shown in the last 2 Meetings is all anyone can ask. Well Done
  2. The miracle worker who managed to pass someone on that excuse of a track was Renat Gafurov
  3. Can anyone help me out please. I'm working on a Website, which hopefully will include all riders who've appeared in British Speedway since 1965 (gulp!!). Can any of you Crusaders give me some 'gen on a P.Furniss who rode for you at Middlesbro on 3rd July 1969, as he doesn't appear on the Crusaders website anywhere?? Ta

Many thanks for your help. I'll have to see if the Speedway Star Track Review for that year shed's some light. I'll let you know if i find anything so you can update your site if necessary.

    Floppy makes the squad

Gawd help us! Are they shipping Arlington en bloc to Denmark then
  13. Sky are providing Speedway with more exposure than ever, those of you who are constantly whining about their coverage should cast your minds back 5 years. Speedway has no divine right to TV coverage and the fact Sky choose to put it on Extra is their right, we are a minority sport and it's only rarely that Sky treat it as so.
  14. My prediction is procession!!

Ah! a cracking performance considering i could barely see straight!!

    Riders' debuts

Oxford tried to sign Jeff Sexton in 1976, didn't materialise for some reason and he dissappeared into oblivion. Mikael Blixt was badly injured riding for Berwick in the early 90's and had to pack in. Jimmy Nilsen's debut in a pairs event in '85 was pretty hot (9+2)!!
  17. I've got the Speedway Stars from that period and may be able to send you some info. Might take me a few days to get it together though

    Slovenian Wildcards ?

On an Australian licence. Don't know if that's been held against him (or the fact he couldn't cut it in the GPs in the past). Rico Think Richie meant Zagar not Ferjan!!
  19. Through the eye of a needle comes to mind!!!
  20. And telling cameramen to F*** off!!! Quality tele!!
  21. You are telling me that Simon Stead will Challenge the likes of Lee Richardson, Jason Lyons etc better than Dean Barker would at this precise moment in time??? Fair enough in Years to come - but why not wait untill then, instead of putting a wild card in who will most likely turn up and get two lasts (unless theres an exclusion or ef). Not even the biggest Simon Stead fan if being honest will admitt he has a better chance of doing well than Dean Barker!! I think you'll find Simon comes into the will improve section!! Deano (as good a season as he's having) doesn't fit into either
  22. I can see the benefits of putting young riders with potential in to give them a taster for years to come, after all England wants future World Champions and to achieve that these boys need every bit of experience they can get (although i don't think either Howe or Stead will ever achieve that accolade), i see no benefit in putting in riders who are neither going to improve, or challenge the top men in the event. In my opinion messrs Barker, Stonehewer, Screen, Havelock etc all fall into that category.
  23. Managed to get some late scoops in O'Neills at the end of the road. Opern till 1am if i remember rightly, it was a bit fuzzy though!!
  24. Looks like a poor decision to leave Chris Harris out to me. IMO he is far more deserving of a place than Simon Stead on this years form. The other choice is difficult as there is a big gap from Loram at number 3 to the next bunch of English riders. The likes of Screen, Havvy and Stoney have had they're day and the younger lads (of which we have quite a decent bunch at the mo) are quite ready yet. Therefore i suppose Howe is as good a choice as any. early baths for the pair of them though i suspect

    Rudy Muts

Rudy only rode for Wimbledon (77-81) and had a bad smash in 79 i think. He was a very tall rider who averaged around 5.5 in the top league in his career, as Dekker said he ended up on Swindon's list but never rode. Other Tulip ticklers were Piet Seur and Frits Koppe who rode for King's Lynn and weren't much cop. Also Henk Bangma who rode for Exeter before badly smashing his leg in his first ride at Peterboro for Swindon.
