    Ice Speedway 2019-2020

You are correct. Championship points are awarded for the finishing position. 20-18-16-14 for the finalists. 12-11-10-9 for the S/F 3rd & 4th places. 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the remainder. You could still have a winner who only wins one race all night, the Final!

  5. From the FIM Press Release:- Speedway: A tender was launched during the third trimester of 2019 for the promotion of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship for 2022-2031. Various offers were submitted to the FIM Board of Directors, who chose after much consideration to sign with Discovery / Eurosport Events as their proposal was the most interesting and innovative from a sports, development and TV coverage point of view. The FIM would like to thank BSI for its dedication and hard work and hopes to collaborate with them again in the future.

And how would you work out the fairest Gradings? Using Rolling Averages I presume?
  7. Thank you so much for your continued support of the British Youth Riders, and without your support we would not be able to help and assist many of the riders. You were so kind in 2019 to supply the Young Lions with an amount of £2500. With this amount we were able to supply the following - 125 Riders: Luke Harrison Max James Max Perry Ben Trigger Freddie Fox Baron With an amount of £150 each towards their travel and accommodation to compete in the FIM European 125 Final which took place at Torun in Poland. Also each rider was supplied with 2 tyres for the event at a cost of £45 each per tyre x 10 = £450. At the end of the Youth Championship we were able to supply all the riders who competed in this year's Championship a goody bag, which included a mix of handlebar grips, chain lubrication, WD40, air filter spray, bike wash fluid, cable ties, duck tape and goggles, which came to a cost of £614. Drew Kemp and Jason Edwards competed in the European Under 19s, which meant they travelled to Germany and Czech Republic respectively, then onto Slovakia, and we were able to supply them with 2 tyres each for the Semi Final and then the Final, so 8 tyres in total, at a cost of £45 each so a total cost of £360. So currently the amount of £2174 has been spent, meaning we still have £326 remaining which will help towards the cost of paying for the pre season training camp we are planning for February 2020. Again thank so much for all your hard work and commitment to British Youth Speedway, and hopefully you can see that now getting riders to compete in Europe, we are now able to compete against the best in the World and we are now winning medals at European and World levels. 2019 Successes: FIM World Under 21 Team - Silver Medal FIM World 125 Track Racing: World Champion - Max Perry Runner Up - Luke Harrison FIM European 125cc Final: Third Place - Luke Harrison European Under 19 Semi Final Winner: Drew Kemp European Under 19 Finalists: Drew Kemp and Jason Edwards European 250cc Finalist: Sam Hagon and Sam McGurk Young Lions Management 2019 Under 21 speedway Under 19 Speedway British Youth Speedway Neil Vatcher

2.5% is just for team building. Actual average determines No.1.

Totally agree with the post, and particularly relevant is your last sentence. At a recent NSSC meeting Referee Phil Griffin, who by the way provided many laughs in his talk-in, was particularly scathing in the attitude of a particular CL Heat Leader who thought that around 140 actual 'working days' in a 5 month season should allow him to live for 12 months.

    Unusual speedway prizes

Gary Guglielmi's first ever open meeting win was at Mildenhall. He won a sack of carrots!
  12. Perhaps now is the time to say that NDL lads stepping up to the CL should be 'protected' by keeping them at reserve for their first season?
  13. The two riders who finish 3rd in the Semi's are ranked according to their Qualifying points/countback, as are the two who finished 4th.
  14. Using the 2020 format in the 2019 series sees Leon Madsen as World Champion with 154 points (130 2019) and Zmarzlik in 2nd place with 147 (132 2019). Madsen would have had a 1 point lead prior to Torun. Zmarzlik would have had to finish ahead of Madsen in the Final, to win by 1 point. No other changes in positions down to 18th place in the final standings. Janowski, Doyle and Dudek miss out on automatic qualification.
  15. Surely you can afford the measly sum of £10 for a full season of GP spreadsheets from all the money you fleece earn from your suckers clients!
  16. You could quite easily use the 2019 format for calculating the scores. There will be a KanDysoft version that will help you!
  17. Thanks R&R. How will that impact on the GP Spreads?
  18. I'm not a fan of this if it is true. As I said earlier, a rider may score 15 points in the Qualifying heats and finish third in his S/F for an actual total of 16 points, loses 4 points in the new format, being 'awarded' 12 points. Another rider may qualify for the S/F with 8 points and finish second in his S/F actually scoring 10 points but gains 4 points after being 'awarded' 14 for finishing last in the Final!
  19. It's the 2016 EL Format, with 'protected' reserve heat 12. Tac subs heats 5-11, but not double points.

    The first race you saw

Can't remember the exact date, but it was in 1963. My neighbours were Speedway fans and took me to Brandon one Saturday night. We sat in the old wooden stand that looked down the straight, and I had no idea what was about to enfold. 4 riders lined up at the tapes, and when the tapes rose the riders raced straight towards us, and in an instant I thought they were all about to fall off as they threw their bikes into the first turn. I was hooked!!!

I'm not sure, but don't teams that move up get first dibs on the riders from teams dropping down?

And a number of Pawlicki's missed matches were also Polish 'recalls' for which the Bees were allowed a guest at reserve!
