sjw ministerofport 1 Posted June 24, 2004 The chances are that an arm chair view of a GP or Elite league speedway meeting is the first contact that the general public will get of our sport. Why is there not more focus on advertising the different speedway tracks around the country. I am sure that it is in the interest of Sky TV as well as the clubs to entice new fans to all of the tracks. Whether a league meeting or a GP the presenters could help, for instance a league meeting that is being covered, they could mention both teams next fixture and so on. The GP's could ask the riders more about their league clubs and how good the racing is. Anything to spread the word.
Trees 2,814 Posted June 24, 2004 Yes good idea, instead of advertising just the BSI GP's and SWC couldn't they put up a list of fixtures for the next week or something, surely not too much to ask?? As for the advert for the SWC, it's tacky imo!
SCB 0 Posted June 24, 2004 As for the advert for the SWC, it's tacky imo! To be fair, the advert is for the tickets for the "real" thing and the GP advert selling tickets was taccy yet Skys GP advert was as it should be. Prehaps BSI should ask Sky Sports to make them a decent advert.
Old Saint 3 Posted June 27, 2004 May I ask why restrict the advertising to Sky? Why not advertise meetings more widely on ITV and in local newspapers? Speedway is an exciting sport but needs to promote itself more widely.
sjw ministerofport 1 Posted June 27, 2004 No reason Old Saint, but Sky are already involved and would also benefit greatly.
