If there was a stadium built it would need to incorporate this. However, none of this will happen anwyay.

Deano 1,318 Posted September 29, 2004 May be the idea should be taken seriously. Slightly off topic I know but, I wonder if anybody at the BSPA have done a feasibility study on the decline of usable stadiums over the past twenty years. This number is only going to get smaller as time goes on, in order to protect speedway long term they need to start looking at owning their own stadia somehow. OK they don’t need to be glamorous but security is more important.
FUJI 602 0 Posted September 30, 2004 ODSAL BRADFORD make this into the mecca of speedway its got facilities in now as a rugby team are using it ( bulls ?? ) how much would it cost to update toilets, seating, car park, racing track ?? i dont think we are talking megamoney...its pretty central for airports,,motorway links etc. it might not be everyones cup of tea...but it would almost be a neutral track as regards cup finals p.l.r.c. e.l.r.c. etc. my last visit there was back in 1990 for the world final....think this would be an ideal venue for big meetings and might settle the arguments about home track advantage etc..i.e. sheffield...workington etc.. RogH 0 Posted October 1, 2004 Odsal Stadium has been partially squared off with hospitality boxes at one end. I fear no return to this venue for speedway.
sjw ministerofport 1 Posted October 5, 2004 I know it will never happen, building a major stadium for speedway the cost would be to much but what is wrong with dreaming. A piece of land out in the country, big enough to house a large stadium and car park. Elite league sides to meet each other on their home tracks once and a third match to be held at the new stadium. The same for the Premier and Conference clubs, then all the top individual meetings. With the GP Make it a two day spectacular. The first day practice followed with a massive party with live music fire works and a fair. Hire local fields for camping. Hire the stadium out for dog racing with a track built on the inside of the speedway track for a change, have a casino a large resturant. Use it for concerts. Have a weekly training school through out the year. Now where is my cheque book
SCB 0 Posted October 5, 2004 Surely the Centre of British Speedway is on the South Coast?! Poole?! Wimbourne Road to be exact!!!
Eddie 7 Posted October 5, 2004 Sure, we could build a purpose built, all facilities top notch stadium that would host all of our top events. Twelve months later, some high flying, big wig, multiple track promoter could then make an offer to the owners, move in and decide to run yet another EL team from there, and run all the big meetings as well. Back to square one.
Daniel Smith 5,645 Posted October 6, 2004 It could happen in theory, goes like this, We have 3 and a half thousand members on this forum, Everyone puts £1000 in the kitty = £3,500,000, Vote in a chairman as it would become a full time job, £2,000,000 on the build of the stadium, £1,500,000 to keep it running for the next 2 years after, Buy then should start making a profit and everyone then starts claiming there money back with interest. Sounds all so simple doesn't it????????????????????
SCB 0 Posted October 6, 2004 (edited) £1000? I want to invest £500,000!! Incidently, the Millenium Stadium cost £117m so everyone needs to invest £300,000 and lets not forget, half the millenium stadium was already in place!! We just need a lottery grant twice the size they had the for millenium stadium! Edited October 6, 2004 by SCB
Guest bispham_seasider Posted October 7, 2004 So simple and of course we all have a spare grand or 2 to throw away! I'll start the ball rolling with 50p, anyone got a good bank account that pays great interest rates for my dosh to go in?

AtSpeed 0 Posted November 25, 2004 I dare say in Speedway's 76 year history there has been many a debate on who won etc because of "Home Track Advantage".Perhaps now is the time for Speedway to build a track entirely fit for the purpose of being the Showpiece of British Speedway capable of holding ALL the major events. To make it a true Centre of British Speedway, an adjoining building or incorpated into the design of the Stadium, space for a British Speedway & World Of Speedway Museum. Just take a look at all the "Big" events in British Speedway....... Speedway Grand Prix, ELRC, EL Pairs, EL Play Off 1, EL Play Off 2, EL Play Off Final, PLRC, PL Pairs, PL Fours, CLRC, CL Pairs, CL Fours. The Championship Of GB. The KOC for all Leagues could all be made into a 20 heat "spectacular" as the KOC Final. Plenty to keep it going through the Summer and to keep it in use during the Winter, hire it out as a corporate venue also hire it out for Concerts etc. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just read your piece above, if you go to www.speedwaybits.co.uk you'll find that this is what we are looking to do. We have a couple of things stopping us, Money, and somewhere for this to happen. If anyone knows anybody that has a field ideally in the Midlands area and wants to sell or rent out, we are prepared to put in the hard work to make this the best in the country. We would also have training days and nights (in the summer). We have the experience we just need the help to get the right place to do it. Please reply to this if you can help Many Thanks
