EL costs.........just the riders fault?

Recommended Posts

Apart from riders demands, what else makes running in the EL so expensive and prevents PL clubs from seeking entry?

What I find difficult to understand is how some EL clubs stay in existence when their crowds are not much more than PL clubs who are maybe just breaking even but don't have to pay GP riders' wages, air fares etc.

They must get some form of subsidy, but nobody will say how much money Sky are paying for TV rights, sponsorship.

Dont also forget that some EL promoters are happy to run at a loss to work with their other business iinterests. I cant think of any PL teams that do that.

Of course there is a subsidy from Sky, it's alternatively know as 'part payment for your number one subsidy'. This year it was £60k.
