We have had years of it.Asking the same questions, posting the same comments over and over like a stuck Frankie Vaughan record.Nobody takes the old boy serious.

Aren't you a little confused Sir Sidney? My item as quoted by you was a comment not a question. Read it carefully and notice the difference! Then have a laugh - at yourself!

What a shame I'm not a journalist. Thank you for pointing out my failings. I tried and failed to indicate that you asked the question on Facebook.

The point remains that you already well know why cars continued and speedway didn't. Nothing to do with viability - all to do with the commercial aims of the owners.

Off out now to have a laugh at myself. I frequently do so.

Are you going to the Dons Den event on Friday? Perhaps I could buy you a drink and we could have a chat about it.

Enjoy your day

You obviously are not up to date with your Facebook exploits these days. Modestly I would say I am "...a welcome guest..." on some of the groups. Even their Mods sometimes make a point of thanking me for my comments. And that includes the FB group that well matches the BSF in regard to its membership size. But then reactions of your type towards me have been your BSF stock-in-trade (and pointed out by other BSF members) for years. It boils down to the fact that "...a troll will always deny being a troll..."

There was no personal intent on my part Sir Sidney. I appreciate and respect your reasoning for the Post now. So far as The Dons Den event on Friday is concerned I will not be there but as you may have noticed it has received much coverage on various Facebook groups and the indications are that it will be a big success -as it deserves to be. I hope you have an enjoyable evening Sir Sidney.

That's a matter of opinion! I used to be responsible for the Readers Letters pages for a time at the 'South London Press'. Comments in the context of your Posts were quite frequent. We had a spike for them. You would have been a prime candidate so far as most of your wind-up utterances are concerned.

On the BSF you have from PMs I receive from one-time BSF regulars specialised in upsetting quite a few Posters to the extent they have ceased contributing. BTW I now wait with some amusement the next utterance from you.

A great pity this thread has so sadly deviated from 'Wimbledon Memories'. Hopefully it will return to the theme it was designed for.

The underline is a surprise! I have no concerns because I don't know any current riders so it's doubtful that at first hand I have been in debate with any of them or have need to do so.

Many riders I knew from the old days of speedway are co-members of the same Facebook groups as me. Frequently when I mention one of them they respond with the LIKE sign.

So, as far as the context of your Post is concerned "...I won't be losing any sleep in regard to the remark..."

Re your latest quote: I respond because you in your vanity design comments to ensure that a response is made of the kind that you will be able to continue the 'slanging match' style that pervades most comments you place on the BSF. A matter that will ensure this comment from will get your usual attacking nonsense.

Now what about restimulating Wimbledon Memories?

PS: A search on Facebook fails so far to find any indication here some riders dislike my comments. Are you having porkie pies for lunch today (I acknowledge you highlighted this amusing comment previously. Nice one.)

With my historical knowledge of Wimbledon Speedway (proven by articles in many publications over the years!!!) I think that I am qualified to debate memories of speedway and other happenings there. How about when they had a professional baseball team there in the mid-1930s? Oops - not motorsport!!!

Does any member recall a period in the late 1950s when Wimbledon for a few meetings staged second-half races for standard-type road bikes? Offhand I think they were described as stock bike races. The best rider was Pete Rogers. Can anyone recall other race participants. I would also like confirmation that the bike engines were 500cc.
