Academy 3tt At Ipswich On Thursday

Recommended Posts

Talking about the meeting, how quick did Darcy Ward look to anyone who went? Seems to be racking up the points for boston, wondered how he'd fair on a totally new track. . . by winning all his races :o

An enjoyable meeting, especially as Poole won with a weakened team!!.Although Kyle wasnt physically with us,he most certainly was in spirit.Missed ya mate.We did it for you!

I believe that was Brendans first ever full 15 pt maximum. :approve:

As for Darcy Ward, awesome performance......again.Its no wonder he had folk round him like bees round a honey pot.

I sincerely hope that Shane Hazelden isnt as hurt as it first appears.Very nasty crash.

Good to meet up with CrazySue,Badge,PanthersChamps06 and Soph.Best mention Jaybea as well!

Special Thanks to Badge for helping me with a problem once the meeting had finished.

It was good to see some of the up and coming talent and apart from Shane, who we wish a speedy recovery, this was a good meeting and everyone of these kids deserves a pat on the back for giving everything. You could say it was a refreshing change and one I hope can be repeated. The one rider who really stood out was Darcy and his time of 62.4 in heat four was on a par with some on his more illustrious colleagues from the Elite league. The crowd was on par with that when Sky are in town so not bad but it is a great pity that more did not turn up. Most opinions of those I spoke with were that it would be good to have more of this or at least a conference league side to race on those nights when the witches are not riding at home, which is all too regular occurence this season. And one final thanks goes to the men in black. It was great to see the real bikes out again on the track.

A great night of Academy speedway and a showcase of the young talent out there.

Here's hoping the awful crash Shane Hazelden had was not as serious as it looked, speedy recovery to him.

Darcy Ward, one word - stunning. Many congratulations to the Poole team deserved winners. Bad luck to Rye House, just wasn't their night. And of course well done to the Academy Witches.

Much praise must go to those who promoted this event. It would be great if every promotor in the Elite League put by one evening a season to hold a meeting like this.

To see the "Men in Black" on their vintage machines, with the 'proper' smell and noise brought back many memories.......!

An enjoyable evening. :approve:

Darcy was always in the Poole team, even though I disagreed with his inclusion.

Kyles replacement was Dan Greenwood.Dan seems to be struggling at the moment, for whatever reason.I know both he and his Dad are pulling their hair out trying to work out why.Thats not to take anything away from his efforts which were greatly appreciated.

The way the meeting panned out,I am convinced Kyle would have scored more than Dan.

I would also like to thank Ipswich for putting the meeting on in the first place. All the lads seem to enjoy the experience .

I think Darcy's fastest winning time was some where in the region of 62secs and the average 4 laps at foxhall this season is some where in the 60-61secs, so not bad not bad at all.

As some of you know Shane had a bad crsh at Ipswitch on thursday night. I am sorry to say that he has badly broken his leg again but in a different place. He has broken his Tibia and Fibula just above his ankle and the ball of the ankle has been fractured. He was transfered by ambulance on Friday afternoon to Tunbridge wells hospital which is near to home to have an operation to fix all the breaks.

He had the op yesterday afternoon and they have put a plate and screws to fix the Tibia he has also had screws put in the ankle to hold that together and the other break we have been told will heal normally while he is in a cast. We have spoke to the consultant today and they are happy with the operation but want to keep him in for a few days as he has a lot of swelling and is in a lot of pain.

I would like to thank everyone that helped us out Thursday night we really cant thank you enough, and for all the calls of concern for Shane.

Garry
