For the benefit of the heavily injured Sönke Petersen the German National Team started a fundraiser with the slogan: “Stand up! We support you!” With this campaign the team wants to support his teammate as well as his family. Teammanager René Schäfer therefor opened a fundraising account. “Sönkes fate is a tragedy where all of us are asked to help him with the means that are available to us.” Schäfer also emphasized that 100% of the funds will be forwarded to Sönke: “Every single cent that will be transferred to the fundraising account will be given to Sönke.” The opening of the fundraising account is only the start for further activities to support Sönke. “Tobias Kroner contacted me and offered me his help. Further some clubs signalized to participate in benefit activities to help him”, Schäfer said.
