Post #144: September 19th at Pori.

Never seen Pirttinen and heard only once before. According to the results seem's somewhat decent, actually beat Rene Lehtinen.

May be Juha Moksunen or Roj Malminheimo? I have nice photo of Roy from Vjunov Memorial in St.-Petersburg (Leningrad).

I'm quite sure it's not Roy Malminheimo. ;) He's more in to the recreational side of motorsports these days. Moksunen would probably still fit his old kevlars and was in fact named in one of the teams only about 4-5 years ago but I doubt him coming back as much as Malminheimo.

Some great racing at Eskilstuna on friday night. Timo Lahti and Niko Siltaniemi rode brilliantly, Joni Keskinen was good and the rest of the Finns delivered according to their capacity. Teemu Lahti had a nasty fall in heat 13 due to a mechanical problem and it looks like broken bones on the shoulder area.

I was delivered a ”Best wishes to f-s-p” from a forum member from Ipswich today, we just dont know (my friend forgot) who You were. Hope You had a good time at Gdansk alltough it was a rain affected meeting. And best wishes right back at You!!

Timo Lahti excellent again, Keskinen-Mäkinen-Siltaniemi also good. Teemu Lahti out with a broken collarbone and Mika Loppi hurt his wrist in a fall today. Jiri Nieminen was in the mix with a couple of points to his name this time.

This make's the standings at:

Seura O-+-P

Kotkat 7-29-219

Haukat 7-28-217

Jokerit 7-25-206

Paholaiset 7-15-143

This will be interesting come saturday at Seinäjoki. Beating Kotkat by three (or more) points will give the title to Haukat. If they win by two, Kotkat will take the title. No reruns according to the rules. Jokerit will take bronze unless Haukat or Kotkat are a complete noshow.

IF Haukat is 3rd on saturday and still win Kotkat by just two points, it's a tie and the rulebook has no solution.

Good to remember also that Kotkat has a suspended penalty on their shoulder. Should they be one rider short or their team manager late from the briefing, thats minus three points from their tally and would actually give a realistic chance of a silver for Jokerit.

Official ruling regarding Paholaiset at Kauhajoki (they rode the meeting with only three riders according to the federation results sheet) is that their team was full and there's no point deduction. Jari Mäkinen was there (I knew that) for the practise but left before the meeting due to illness.

So the standings before the last round as follows:

Seura O-+-P

Kotkat 7-29-219

Haukat 7-28-217

Jokerit 7-25-206

Paholaiset 7-16-143

My mistake totally. I saw only three names in the results and thought the team was incomplete. Well, even Greg Hancock makes mistakes... B)

Says in Speedway Star that Teemu Lahti could be on his way to join Tera at Scunthorpe. Be good to see him over here if this happens.

Was supposed to (/could have happened) ride today if it was not for this: "Here we go, go..." and this: gone!

Season finished with a broken collarbone that was operated this tuesday.

What a shame for the lad!

Which other Finns do you think could do a good job in the PL? Makinen struggle before, but with a bit more experience now do you think he would be

better if given another chance?

I find myself in disbelief when I think eight months back, but currently I think Mäkinen might actually shake some feathers (easily?) in the PL. Siltaniemi would cope also and Timo Lahti would impress.

Jokerit 8 – 233 – 28

Paholaiset 8 – 154 – 18

Haukat is the champion through countback on meeting wins. They won the championship with tied points alltough I said they wouldn't. My mistake, second this week. Not my week and just to top it all I was called today by phone and asked to retire from my commentary. I'll think about that more when I can stop laughing to the whole matter. B)

EDIT2: Teemu Lahti had his meeting with the knife postponed until this coming tuesday due to (you'll love this): a lack of tools and proper spare parts by the surgeon. I spoke with Teemu today and we certainly had a good laugh. :P Teemu was a bit tired though with some strong painkillers on for an 8th day and counting...

I spoke with Jani Pirttinen today and actually saw him ride for the first time today. He was not at all bad for a guy thats's bought his first bike ever this season. Didn't ask but I think he's closer to 40 than he's 25. He has a history of motor racing since 1986 and it envolves mx, formula ford, rallying, the snow sleigh something stuff and others and even national championship medals have been won. It looked a bit wild at times but he did take a heat win for Kotkat in a meeting that was very tense and important for the top three teams.

Way to go Tomek. Glad for him! :approve:
