This Weeks Speedway Star. - Postal

Recommended Posts

In the 11 years i was there the daily workload more the trippled yet RM still claimed it was losing money hand over fist

If the workload was able to triple, then one wonders what everyone was doing before...

I used to socialise quite a lot with posties a few years ago, and they seemed to get through their regular work in a few hours, and then went in and did a few more hours overtime to deal with what hadn't been done earlier in the day... That's when they weren't going on strike...

This said, I'm mostly pretty happy with the service that Royal Mail provides (although not Post Office counters). Postage is also one of those rare things that's actually too cheap.

I received 11th,18th,and 25th Dec issues today but not this weeks. I have already decided not to renew my subscription and will nip in to town an buy one now and then.

What amazes me is that Royal Mail somehow feel it acceptable to decide what post they will and won't deliver first. I'm sorry but if someone has paid for postage, they should get the same service.

Couldn't agree more.

How about this one. Today I received last Thursday's star in the post. (with the first class postage paid GB impression on the brown envelope as normal)

My mate still hasn't received last Thursday's...but this morning he did receive a subscription renewal request from the star.....with a second class franking impression dated yesterday!

So a first class copy of the star takes over a week to arrive

but a second class letter requesting subscription renewal arrives in 24 hours!

That comment is completely incorrect.

Delivery span is fully dependant upon the service (product) that the customer has paid for.

To offer all customers the same level of service, irrespective of the fact they have paid for postage, would break the compliance law within Royal Mail's 'Universal Service Obligation' - as issued by Government.

Speedway star pay for 1st class postage, therefore, they should get exactly the same service as any other first class post, it should not be put aside because it's a magazine. The sender determines the urgency by picking the level of service at the start.

Maybe speedway star should stick on the envelope, "urgent" and just pay for 2nd class post?

This week's edition arrived this morning - bang on the dot. Is it the weather that makes everybody (well okay not everybody but many on here!) whinge?

Well you're alright then jack. :P I think we have every right to have a whinge about this because I haven't even received last week's copy yet never mind about this week's which you seem to have been lucky enough to get on time. Christmas/bad weather or not other stuff seems to be getting through - I've even had a damn holiday brocure this morning.

That must have a pleasant surprise for you, I didn't bother stoppping off at the shop on the way to work this morning. Cue: mad dash lunch hour dash accross town (I do miss my Thursday morning read; boys and their comics, LOL!), I'll post later whether my copy arrived or not....

Success! It was waiting for me in the shop. Reason I didn't bother this morning was the strike at Hull railway station meaning much less mail delivered all week. Still, I have my comic now so for me all is well....

Only the sender (Speedway Star) can complain to the Postal Authorities. Recipiants do not matter as far as they are concerned.

Then the GPO (they still known as such?) want things both ways i.e. have their cake and scoff it as nigh on all of us are senders AND receivers.

No doubt my mate HTID, (who found out, and no doubt will confirm, that speedway track preparation is both an art and a science not to mention ruddy hard work over the course of the season just ended! ) will be on here soon and I'll certainly agree with him that my regular postie is innocent and that those above - WAY above, are to blame.

Hate to think what things would be like IF the post was privatised - not everyone has a computer forum members would do well to bear in mind!

Don't worry folks this weeks Speedway Star contains the Poole Pirates 2010 track review.

Also full page interview with Bjarne Pedersen (Poole Pirates)

And Isle of Wight 2010 track review featuring Danny Warwick and Brendan Johnson (Poole local lads).

So production runs to meet the high demand will cause a few problems.

It is on sale in newsagents today at £2.70 (New Year price increase from £2.60, but it has all that top quality Poole material in it)

4th Coventry 52pts + 9th Ipswich 26pts = 1st poole 78pts Statistics forever inscribed in the history books.

Last weeks arrived today, still a week in arrears, any posties on here able to give a clue as to when the postal service is likely to catch up? Cheers.

Krzysztof Kasprzak (Poole Pirate asset with too high average to fit in the team) was in the Winners bit Kev.

Lakeside and Coventry paid us for his services and he paid our local authourity his council tax so everyones happy down here.

Enjoy Krzysztof in 2011 Kev he will do a good job for you.

Krzysztof and Bjarne loan fees will part fund our campaign so business as usual.
