Swedish 2021 Season (info on 1st page with signings, rules and etc).

Recommended Posts

No decision yet on how to handle the Covid-19 situation except that there won't be meetings run without spectators.
Problems mentioned are also quarantine of riders / people that traveöl between countries. A rider cannot go ride in different
countries if they have to spend a week in quarantine each time.

The Swedish elitserien teams have decided to postpone the start of the season to 2 June (4 weeks) . There will be no quarter finals either. Other changes are an increase of number of transfer cards from 3 to 7 and the average floor limit has been powered to 8.000 from 8.500.

Svemo have issued a ban from riders from other countries coming to Sweden to participate in activities (mainly motocross).
Apparently riders from Denmark have ignored the travel ban and travelled to Sweden to participate in activities. The same goes for
Swedish riders who are not allowed to leave the country to participate in activities in other countries.

I get the feeling there won’t be any Speedway this season.

But what can one do, safety first!

New decision today. All competive motorcycle sport (governed by Svemo) is cancelled until further notice.
Training and membership/board meetings are still allowed though.

Additional starting options for the Swedish speedway elite league – BAUHAUS-league

The Swedish elite speedway clubs association, Elite Speedway Sweden (ESS) have already announced that the BAUHAUS-league will be delayed due to the Corona pandemic. Previously, alternatives have been presented for different start dates in June. Now the clubs have worked out even more alternatives for a later start as well.

......

At the end of March, ESS communicated different launch dates in June for the Swedish elite league, depending on the restrictions that Covid-19 imposes. For more opportunities to carry out the season, the elite clubs together have discussed additional options and come up with several different possible solutions with start dates until August 11th.

According to Dackarna's chairman Thomas Karlsson Elitserien will not start on 2 June. The clubs will have a new meeting on Monday and a new decisions or an announcement is expected on Tuesday or Wednesday. Thomas say he expects that there won't be any speedway in Sweden for entire June.

Jerker Eriksson is sceptic about Swedish Elitserien resuming this year. He also says that in his opinion Swedish speedway shouldn't push too
hard about restarting. He says that people's health is the most important and that many people have lost their jobs.

Not sure what has happened to it, but i visited the arena once when i was in Sweden but didn`t see a match.- Google translation.

Arendalsbanan is a speedway arena located in Arendal on Hisingen in Gothenburg. The Arendalsbanan used to be the Kaparnas home course.

The arena has a length of 336 meters, a width of 12.5 meters, a radius of radius of 30 meters and a curve width of 17.5 meters.

The audience record is 5,940 spectators and was set on September 24, 2002 in a match between Kaparna and Rospiggarna. The track record 60.1 was set by Tony Rickardsson for Masarna on September 24, 2004.

There was some plans and controversy around it. Säve (the new track) did not happen and would be pretty typical that after a decade Arendal is still there un-used.
