Maybe the club could make one of the prizes a contract to ride for Sheffield in 2014.

Have a word with yourself Spinny! OK if the next Darcy Ward wins it but with our luck it'll be the next Burt Ward. then we'll be stuck with Robin at reserve for a season! The correct answer to what do we get out of it is "one of the best race meetings of the year, almost without fail!"

So we have the season ticket price remaining at £300 for 2013. Included in the fixtures are he PLRC, British Semi and international. If the Sheffield Management read this could they clarify which, if any of these matches season tickets will be valid for. I assume as in past years they are not valid for PLRC. If I remember correctly, in 2010 season tickets were valid for the British Semi (but no free programme) in 2011 admision had to be paid for but we got programme free so not sure which will apply in 2013. Not sure what will apply for the international.

Or might even be a Taylor Poole.

If you look at past winners there has been some really good riders won the Top Gun.

And imagine if you offer a contract for the following season, surely you are going to attract the best of the young riders from GB and any Aussies who are over trying their luck..

And lets not forget the club have made a big play about rebuilding the asset base at Sheffield.

Would not mind if we could swap Robin (Aspegren) for our number 7.

From the Website 2013 Season Tickets are based on a minimum of 20 Home meetings to reflect the lower numbers in the Premier League competitions but bring added value with additional savings at Owlerton Stadium and reduced admission at other clubs on an affiliated basis.

Car Park

All season ticket holders will receive a 50% discount on car parking, a saving of £20 over the minimum number of meetings and is subject to space being available, there is no reserved or guaranteed parking so first come first served

Tiger Tokens

Every ADULT SEASON TICKET (excludes concessions) will receive a Tiger Token with a face value up to £3.00 that may be spent at any of the stadium bars or to purchase raffle tickets. This represents a saving of £60 over the minimum number of meetings and a saving of £80 when used in conjunction with the car park saving. This offer is guaranteed for season ticket holders on each occasion that the season ticket is used we will from time to time apply this promotion to Adult turnstile admissions.

Affiliated Clubs

We are in the process of negotiating reduced admission with other clubs that will allow season ticket holders admission to other Premier League clubs for a target price of £10 for all classes, the discount will not apply when Sheffield are the visitors. A list of affiliated clubs will appear on the website and Race Card in due course.

Semi, PLRC and International aren't Sheffield Meetings so the ticket won't be valid. On the other hand if you park in the car park and but a drink you'll save £80 on last season's prices. Sounds pretty good to me.

Cue people who don't drive and don't go in the bar..................

Actually Spinny, I don't disagree with you on the quality of the winners, just our potential to record an epic fail!

Previous winners of the Top Gun or Amateur Meeting or Cream of the conference going back to 97 are:

James Birkinshaw (beat Simon Stead and David howe into 2nd & 3rd)

Adam Allott

Paul Lee

Ben wilson

Josh Auty

Adam Roynon

Darcy Ward

Taylor Poole

Gary Irving

Not a bad roll of honour, and proof if proof were needed to anyone who doesn't turn up that there are stars of the future in those events

So if you buy a season ticket, you get treated like a greyhound racing punter and only have to pay a quid for the car park?

Has the car park issue ever been raised? Why is it a quid for the dogs and 2 quid for speedway?

I wonder how much they charge the casino customers maybe a way around paying 2 quid.

Great value season tickets!!!

12 league matches 2 cup and 1 KOC

15 * £15 is £225

Only paying £75 over the odds or gambling on progression to play offs / later cup rounds. Requires a miracle to break even let alone get a decent loyalty discount

Compare that with my football ST £410 or 23* 28 = £644 ie .36% discount

Why are speedway season tickets such poor vfm?

Just noticed S/T price at Berwick £160 14 meetings your in profit

Sheffield requires an ublikely 21 to be in profit

I hear as part of the improvements the turnstiles will be made narrower John!

A team with Steady, Hall and Wells should do better than 2012

Without Wells not looking good

Steady, Hall and Wells, £60 worth of ale and park my van for £20 less, only a tenner to get into Workington when I go at least 4 times a year saving me another £16 and I can watch from the comfort of the restaurant. That's £96 I'll save at least yep my glass is half full, "Owlerton Stadium the Wembley of the North"

I see, according to the Star,Sheffield have managed to bring April forward to next month, perhaps they could reverse the whole season, then we could work our way up from bottom to equal with everybody else.

Who's April and what's her bottom got to do with anything?

Does it matter? Most dogs around the Owlerton area can not drive.

Looking at the admission prices on the website, the 'concessions' is followed by OAP, over 65s' with ID. In past years I thought this had also included Students over 16 who are in full time education (with proof). Are they expecting these students to now pay full price?

Think this is harsh for someone with no or very little income to pay full price!

Anyone know any different?

Why do people compare Speedway with football? Football doesn't rely on its gate money to pay its way because of the Sky contract, Advertising, and the sheer volume of punters. also if Sheffield charged £28 (TWENTY EIGHT POUNDS!!!!! to watch a bunch of overpaid fairies kick a bag of wind about) for full admission I am sure that they would be happy to discount it down to a mere £17.82 a match. As for using Berwick as your benchmark - wasn't this the club who signed a load of expensive riders and then said they may not be able to run because they hadn't got a sponsor? Be lucky if they complete the season - maybe that's why you "break even" after so few meetings.
