foamfence 2,917 Posted February 20, 2013 I hope he gets the necessary help to put him right, It would be a tragedy if he carried on in this way and ruined his career.
mdmc82 2,878 Posted February 20, 2013 He is a ticking timebomb. Its one thing after another and tarnishes the reputation of speedway. Would be best if he didnt get work permit.
BWitcher 12,453 Posted February 20, 2013 Neil Middleditch's comments are reprehensible. Fleeing from the police whilst under the influence of drugs and alcohol, riding an uninsured and unregistered bike and Middleditch says:- "It is what most young people do these days isn't it? He wasn't racing or putting anyone else's life at risk on the track." No Middleditch. It isn't what 'most young people do' at all.
Backless 538 Posted February 20, 2013 More worrying than the exploits of the drunken drugged thug is the attitude displayed by the quote from his Team Manager with whom he stays.
ekimba 319 Posted February 20, 2013 When contacted by the Daily Echo, Pirates team manager Neil Middleditch said: “It is what most young people do these days isn't it? He wasn't racing or putting anyone else's life at risk on the track. That statement beggars belief, support your rider by all means but don't try and condone it by tarring "most" young people with the same brush
brewer 159 Posted February 20, 2013 i agree the kid needs sorting out, we see it with so many talents in sport and showbiz, weve had them in speedway before as well, not totally sure of the answer, but what does astound me is the attitude of our national team manager! what absurd comments to make about the situation, think he has lost the plot on this one.
paul90210 40 Posted February 20, 2013 if he has been caught doing drugs then he should be banned, end of story. I for one hope he doesn't gain entry to the country and does indeed get a speedway ban. maybe then it will show all the up and coming riders that their actions do have consequences, and maybe it will help straighten out other riders who maybe heading down the wrong path. and what a comment from the well respected neil middleditch. after that comment any respect i had for the man has now gone!
Backless 538 Posted February 20, 2013 You can guarantee that if a Brit was stupid enough to be in the same position, the Australian authorities would laugh at any visa application. It's to be hoped that the UK authorities adopt a similar stance.
BWitcher 12,453 Posted February 20, 2013 Middleditch should be sacked from his role as National Manager, in no other sport would he be allowed to continue after such comments.
5thPlace 21 Posted February 20, 2013 Cant work out whats worse. Darcys actions or Middlo saying its whats most people do - the mind boggles. He wasnt risking peoples lives on track LOL NO! he wasnt. but what about the roads he was riding on Middlo !
mikec 412 Posted February 20, 2013 Hope someone can take him to one side, someone he respects & looks up to - reminds him what an incredible talent he is, as well as exactly what he has to lose. He's still very young, he's not the first at that age to make bad decisions, I know I did. I learnt from those mistakes & hopefully he will too. Regardless of who we support it'd be a terrible shame if his talent went to waste - on a speedway bike he is everything our sport needs right now. No less than Jason Crump tweeted last year to the effect that he was the most natural talent on a speedway bike he'd seen since Per Jonsson, high praise indeed. I really hope he'll get, & listen to, some sound advice, gets his work permit for the UK for 2013 & shines - including two visits to my team Belle Vue this summer. foamfence 2,917 Posted February 20, 2013 Didn't Havvy get a years ban from Speedway for being prosecuted for cannabis possession? Lee and Courtney got prison sentences for drug offences as well, I seem to remember.
paul90210 40 Posted February 20, 2013 thats the problem though, britain let anyone in whereas the aussies are more strict. I have no doubt that he will be allowed back in the country unfortunately
LagutaRacingFan 1,927 Posted February 20, 2013 Don't see what's the problem? Riders like Krzystof Kasprazak who have been in possession of illegal silencers have been allowed to ride in the UK but Darcy shouldn't be allowed? It's not like he has cheated or brought the sport into disrepute... cough "Edward Kennett"
