1 valve 558 Posted November 11, 2013 Sisu mislead the paying public? Whatever next I have a perfect location for CCFC. Its just off the M6 and has lots of car parking and has a great football pitch already in situ - I think its called The Richo..perhaps one day, those involved will stop acting even more stupid than this post of mine and work something out like grown up adults in order to return CCFC back to the Richo! Umm suppose that might be the problem - adults acting like un educated kids running sport and councils to feed ego's and wallets...what was that saying? ah yes, Pride before a fall!
FranktonBee 54 Posted November 11, 2013 Ricoh actually, but I get the drift They'll be back there before too long.
Woz01 3,589 Posted November 11, 2013 The council and the club are actually talking now but club wants the freehold while the council want a rent deal. Even if the council were willing to sell I'd guess their valuations will be miles apart. At least speedway seems safe from the Sisu vultures.
dj350z 2,266 Posted November 12, 2013 Have never understood why Coventry City Council have wanted to own a football stadium - not now anyway!
sancho 28 Posted November 12, 2013 Have never understood why Coventry City Council have wanted to own a football stadium - not now anyway! Because they saw it as a money maker, But that was when CCFC were a premiership club. 2 relagations have put paid to that.
dj350z 2,266 Posted November 12, 2013 Because they saw it as a money maker, But that was when CCFC were a premiership club. 2 relagations have put paid to that. Which is precisely why it is an unwise strategy for a council. Did they make any money out of it when they were in the Premiership?
Woz01 3,589 Posted November 12, 2013 Which is precisely why it is an unwise strategy for a council. Did they make any money out of it when they were in the Premiership? The council only got involved when the club was a championship club and couldn't afford the 45,000 state of the art stadium they initially proposed. Anyway the Ricoh is much more than a football stadium with a indoor arena that can hold upto 10,000 people a casino and hotel also.
1 valve 558 Posted November 13, 2013 Which is precisely why it is an unwise strategy for a council. Did they make any money out of it when they were in the Premiership? Although at first I found it hard to believe when I heard the figures mentioned - but stageringly, football revenue has never been anywhere near the highest form of income for the council from the Ricoh facility. Obviously CCFC keep the admission money but all other "hire rent and food supplies" for other activities represented 90% of income i.e. CCFC contributed circa 10% - with this in mind it is easy to see why the council would like to keep the facility equally why CCFC would lik to own the freehold. I dont think the powers that be within CCFC should entertain the concept of building their own (mini) version of the Ricoh given that there is no real suitable site for such a facility, more that they should return to The Ricoh and work from within at persueding the council to form a meaningful partnership - just think egos and childish spats will prevent that from happening...."I want it all, I want it all & I want it now!" as queen would sing!
