Do people actually believe that Coventry Stadium, would be a) a viable option for a football club b ) that they'd ever get planning? Really? Honestly? LOL

Seems to me, that there is as much BS spoken on that forum, as there is here!

Never in a million years..

Yours faithfully

Hiacynth.. :D

Coventry City couldn't possibly play at Brandon unless the speedway track was completely removed.

You'll see on Sky tomorrow at the Berwick v Newcastle meeting that Berwick Rangers' Scottish 3rd Division football pitch barely fits inside the speedway track at Shielfield Park and that track's over 60 metres longer than the one at Brandon.

There are mutterings and rumours and I stress nothing more, that Brandon could be on the list of proposed sites for Coventry City's new stadium should they leave the Ricoh.

At this stage nothing more than that!

You're a long way behind with this "news"

Yes, so far three pages of comment as rightly pointed out running under the title -

There's a lot of rubbish regarding planning approval on this page! Sound planning reasons have to be given in order to turn an application down.

However, major investment in the road outside the stadium would be needed to get planning permission.

Rushden and Diamonds old ground is currently used by Kettering Town.

Kettering have been playing at Corby since at least the turn of the year. Nene Park has been unused for a good few months now and would definitely be available to Coventry if they wanted it (won't happen though).

Looking more likely CCFC will have new owners in the near future so hopefully this was just a SISU pipe dream.

Coventry City FC were deducted 10 points from going into administration in this football season just about to end!

How on earth are they going to afford to buy land and then build a stadium on it when they can't afford the rent on the Ricoh which wasn't that exceaaive for a stadium of that size?

Their former ground at Highfield road was a decent stadium right in the City that was more than sufficient for the club. The Ricoh is to big for the clubs support levels and is out of the City on a retail park!

Like others have said, The Ricoh needs the football club and vice versa. The Ricoh would become a massive white elephant and the Council would look silly allowing another stadium to be built!

If the worst comes to the worst next season Coventry City will play their home games at one of the Birmingham clubs or other Midland clubs and eventually they'll get new owners and end up back where they belong, the Ricoh!

I agree with almost everything. The rent is very excessive for the stadium when you look at other stadiums. Hull City pay a third of what CCFC pay and get matchday revenue, CCFC only get money from ticket sales at present.

The Ricoh bosses offered to reduce the rent from £1.3m to 400k but this was still turned down. Luckily SISU are not actually running the club so whatever they say we can dismiss it as fantasy. Brandon is safe for now.
