Oh Dear, Lee Guilty Of Drug Possession

Recommended Posts

Couldn't agree more.

As stated, I know a number of people that smoke a spliff purely for recreational purposes; from all walks of life and various ages. Personally, it's just never 'floated my boat' to try it. I am not aware of ANY of them becoming a financial drain on the NHS.

And whilst I'm not making a pro-drug argument (I don't preach how people should ever live their lives), cannabis is possibly doing less harm to people than junk food; particularly if we bring the UK's apparent ever-increasing levels of obesity into the equation.

Oh but I think you are!!!

I think you have done so consistently throughout this Thread.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, but it certainly differs from mine.

TWK - I think you are making the classic mistake of interpreting anti-criminalisation/pro-legalisation arguments, or arguments which point out the hypocricy of different laws, for someone being "pro drug." They are not the same.

Certainly, I think there are a range of recreational drugs that should be legalised, put the profits into the hands of the gpvenment rather than the criminal fraternity, and allow that money to be put into the health and education system instead. It oudl also free up police to do "real police work" rather than drug activity. And I imagine if the young folk out on the town were doing pills rather than alochol, the social costs (drunk dirving, violence etc) would be markedly reduced.

Having used speed I certainly wouldn't be having my engines "done" by somone using it to stay awake to work on them.

Well if you have used it are you perfect! what a hypocrite.

and on another post also you were taking the piss out of Mr Lee.

Sid - if you were to say you wouldnt want the mechanic down the road to work on your car while he was drunk would you be:

a) a hypocrite

B) hacing a pop at the mechanic

c) Both of the above

D) None of the above

Its illegal and ít's not uncommon that the use of weed leads to the use of stronger drugs and other forms of criminality.

ah, the old "gateway drug" argument. If there is indeed such a thing, then surely alcochol is thhe main "gateway" drug. As for criminality - i think you are mistaking statistical occurence for causality. While a decent percentage of criminals may use weed, that is far from the same as there being a significant percentage of weed users who are criminals (other than breaking the law around pot smoking obviously).

There is remorse in what Michael Lee says about his drugs offence. That's where the matter should now rest.

I agree with you gustix. Hopefully Michael will now get his life back on track (no pun intended).

I'm allowed to comment am i not ?

I've got no wish to "kick" Mr Lee or any other drug users, irrespective of the excuses they may or may not come up with to defend their actions.

I'm simply passing comment on the picture...

Drop me a line privately if you have a problem Gustix (John?)

not a comment on Michael Lee as i do not know his circumstances and the reasons behind why the police called in the first place......but those saying that cannabis is harmless are totally wrong...i have seen first hand the damage it can do and to flippantly say it is harmless is totally incorrect....every case is different but it is certainly not harmless in all cases that is for sure,

As with alcohol it depends on who is using it, if someone says it's harmless it's probably because they've not seen or personally experienced any problems with it, like me for example. I maintain it's harmless because that's my own experience, I don't say it 'flippantly'.

Having 'moved' amongst regular users for the past 25yrs I can say with my hand on my heart I have never seen anyone have a problem with cannabis use.

If it has impaired my life in any way it would be that I always used it with tobacco, I smoked cigs since I was 9y/o so cannabis wasn't the pathway to smoking.

Using a loosely based comparison with alcohol I would put cannabis alongside shandy. Obviously there are those that will move on to other drugs, just like those that step up their alcohol intake from the odd shandy, you can't change human nature and that's where the problem lies, not with the substance.

Anyway, seeing as this thread is about Michael Lee, good luck to him, I hope life works out ok for him, what a shame that someone thought it ok to report him to the police over a little bit of nothing, he must have upset someone a tad.

Something along the lines I have been thinking. I have never touched drugs, gave up smoking in about 1969, and have about two cans of beer in a year. But I was once very heavy on drinking and also smoked a lot. I gave them up for medical reasons. Perhaps that's why some poster think I am "an old misery guts"!

Seem to be a differing statements as well with Michael saying "I have not taken drugs for a long while now.” but in court his lawyer stated that "Lee is a self employed engineer specialising in producing and tuning racing motor cycle engine and works through the night. He takes amphetamines on occasion ‘to keep him going’.

Lee also smoked a small amount of cannabis for relaxation purposes".

Personally I've not got much sympathy for anyone taking drugs. We've all got problems of one sort or another but don't resort to taking drugs.

Yea looks like he trying to safe his own skin , he told his lawyer that he was taking drugs now this week he's says he's not been taking them for ages ..thats why I never feel sorry for as over years he gets caught only to say he's stopping only to be caught out again .

I would like to think the majority?of the speedway fraternity have sympathy for Mike i certainly do.It has disappointed me that some have put the boot in and that is so easy to do but some of those people need to take a look in the mirror and honestly say to themselves have i ever made mistakes.? Did Mike's actions hurt anyone? maybe himself more than anyone and his family but does that make him a bad person NO?.Since his speedway career finished and his last prison sentence i believe he has made great strides in his life ok there has now been a hiccup. But people who have been through a hurtful split with someone would understand why it happened my wish is that most of the speedway circle give him support and allow him to do what he does best being involved in speedway again.I can totally understand why people would say he has had anough chances and i respect that point of view. But my take is for (ex) my kids i would always support them even if it was there 50th chance mistake) this offence really is so trivial not right i know but trivial and hopefully people will move on to another victim because they're always is one.
